8/19/17 was the perfect day for a wedding! I got to see two of my favorite people get married! The ceremony was beautiful and filled with love. We were ready to get the party started and outside our party bus awaited us- we loaded the drinks and headed out! We had photographers on board ready for several stops to continue capturing all the positive and fun energy before we returned back to the hundreds of guests that awaited at the reception. We made it to the first stop smooth sailing- unloaded for about 10-15 minutes snapped some quick shots and started boarding the bus again. That's when the driver informed us it was having "difficulties shifting." The air was still on so a couple of us sat on board while the others waited outside to stay out of the way while the driver tried to figure out what was going on. The driver turned off the bus to restart and see if that worked- once he turned off the ignition it no longer would even turn over (no more air at this point). Some of the wedding party pointed out the excessive amounts of fluid coming from the back of the bus pouring into the street- the driver was getting flustered and remarked that it has been doing this for some time and they just refill it with transmission fluid so he attempted that. The groom called the owner of Prestige Party Buses several times with no return call. After the driver going back and forth from front to rear of the bus for 30 minutes we finally called guests from the wedding to come get us in suburbans and trucks. While they were on the way the bus miraculously started again! We loaded up in pure relief! We called everyone and told them to go back to the reception and enjoy themselves. We started our way back to the reception as with the delay we no longer had time for another photo stop. We made it not even 2 miles until it stopped and turned off AGAIN, this time in the middle of MLK. We unloaded for safety to get out of the middle of the road. Another 15 minutes and the bus started. By this time, however, we made another call to the guests to turn back around and get us and they had arrived at same time it finally started again. With the fiasco of it all we had the bride and groom missing mingle time with their guests over cocktail hour, missed photo opts with the photographers that were paid for that time, guests getting hungry as now dinner was pushed back for our absence, and the embarrassment of several guests needing to leave to come get a stranded bride, groom, and wedding party on the side of one of the busiest roads in Des Moines.
We assured the newlyweds that the company would make this right and in THE LEAST refund the bus fee. I mean the bus driver himself stating there was a KNOWN mechanical issue.
This company put 32 people's lives as risk when knowingly placing an inoperable vehicle on the road. This is a liability issue at this point, yet who is NOT being compensated but instead being BLAMED for this issue?! The bride and groom. The ones that continued to be kind to the driver during the whole ordeal, the ones that missed some of their own reception and wasted time with prepaid photographers who were unable to get to any other photo spots, the ones that paid for an uber to send the photographers back to the reception to at least get photos of the guests they were unable to greet, THAT'S who's getting blamed and refused compensation.
This DISGUSTS us and we wanted to make others aware at the customer service, rather lack there of, from this company. We have worked with other local companies and would love to refer you to them! read more
