Wow, just wow!! My mother's service and therapy dog, "Hansi" the schnoodle, passed in early January 2018. Hansi has visited hospitals, gone on airplanes, and international cruise ship trips, and has been in local newspapers. My mother thought this was her best dog, & he certainly seemed smarter and more intelligent than our beloved passed canines. She wanted a most fitting momento mori, & James Brost's website looked impressive. His photos of preserved pets looked suspiciously lifelike. Could he do the same for Hansi?? So, when Hansi passed, my stepdad & mother immediately drove Hansi to see James. He told them it would take quite a few months. Fair enough. Then came late June. I drove my mother out to James' workshop to pick up Hansi. He does appear lifelike! Except for his glass eyes (the real eyes shrivel up in the dehydration process), James cautioned us that Hansi was still organic and real. He gave us a care sheet with instructions and tips on preserving Hansi's look. The instructions made total sense and were logical. Hansi also came with a flat board to rest on, and a glass cover that can be removed (James recommended keeping him "under glass" to discourage insects and curious pests). I posted pics on Facebook and Hansi does indeed look "alive." Thank you, James, for your amazing work and explanations. Five Stars, Mister!

The work took some time but it was well worth it. I feel I have my baby back home with me. I have very happy with the finished results.

My girl looked like this in life

i paid a big deposit for a shipping container that's pressure to use him and him alone he promised my baby by christmas i got her home late march 2023 tree still is up for her but i hired jim to freeze dry my dog and paid him to freeze dry my dog in a certain position and sent pj's so he could position back legs for them to fit over feet and what did jim do he did not tell me he had possession of my baby girl for 4 months til a friend called and he picked up then he never freeze dried my baby he taxaderied her he skinned my baby girl threw away her bodythat was to be preserved in her skin tanned her hide and stuffed her full of strofoam and straw and left holes in her thats how i can see the straw and feel no bone or muscle but we all know how strofoam feels ..he killed her a second time he butchered my bsbys body i trusted him.to preserve

Spot is resting peacefully, looks like when he'd rest but still alert to hear me.

Simon was the FIRST to respond, prompt on returning my call. Within a few hours, I was at his property in Norco where he works from. My initial impression was great. Simons eagerness and professionalism was shown as he expressed his own passion for hunting. He is a small business owner which allows him to work around the clock. To be able to a prompt response on a Sunday morning is unheard of! Simon sent pictures of steps he's taken to prepare for the process and has included me in every step. Within 2 days, this buck has officially been scored by the Boone and Crocket Club. Simon also mailed us a copy for record. I am so glad Simon responded and is the one handling this entire process for us. Simon is highly recommended!

Due in part, I received a judgement in my favor. In all, the judge found Simon Romero guilty - he took my money, took my birds and did not perform the service he guaranteed to me almost 5 years ago. If you are in the same situation and are considering submitted a Small Claims Case against Simon Romero, you can access the case files, they should be public records by now. Case number is SCCO 2500369. The process was tedious and lengthy, but there's relief knowing the court made a judgement in my favor; Simon's Taxidermy should no longer be in business given the amount of clients that have found themselves in my same scenario.

I am an active duty Marine and an avid hunter and this guy is by far the worst taxidermist and…read morebusiness person I have ever come across. Mr. Campbell works out of his home which is fairly common for several of the taxidermists I've come across and I have never had an issue with this business model in my previous dealings with other taxidermists. However, Mr. Campbell does not have a clean area and his house/taxidermy shop is in absolute shambles with skins, taxidermy materials and projects in various states of completion just strewn about or haphazardly lying on the floor. Not exactly where I want my mounts to be, where they can be damaged or lost among the mess. Second, this guy initially told me the two Whitetail shoulder mounts I brought him would be completed in 4-6 months. That sounded reasonable to me as previous mounts I have had done elsewhere take anything from 6-9 months to up to a year to complete depending on the taxidermists work load and time for tanning, material ordering, etc. I had to call Mr. Campbell at the 8, 12 and 15 month interval because receiving no updates or progress reports I had no idea when I would be able to pick up my mounts. Each time I called he was rude and told me "just a few more weeks" offering no real information or progress report up to that point or a set completion date. Finally I was forced to give him an absolute no later than completion date that was OVER 16 MONTHS after I had dropped off my deer initially for him to actually buckle down and finish. Now we get to the best part of the story. When I arrived to pick up my mounts after waiting twice as long as I should have to receive them, HE HAD MOUNTED THE DEER IN THE OPPOSITE POSES i HAD REQUESTED!!! Not to mention the workmanship was shotty and the deer look like a mount a teenager could have done. When I pointed out his mistake he responded "Well do you think you could learn to live with it?" Now I am out $900 ($450 per head) and have to find an actual professional taxidermist to fix the mounts and give me a product that I can actually hang proudly in my house. MR. CAMPBELL IS UNPROFESSIONAL IN HIS DEALINGS WITH CUSTOMERS AND HIS PRODUCT ISN'T WORTH HALF WHAT HE CHARGES SO IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR SOMEONE TO HANDLE YOUR PRIZED TROPHY KEEP SHOPPING AND PICK A REPUTABLE TAXIDERMIST.
