I had an encounter with a maintenance staff member who was overly confrontational when I was trying to clarify a situation. It felt disproportionate but I thought it was just me. Later I spoke to a Woman who had a similar issue but actually felt threatened ... same guy ! At this point I figured something should be said. I looked him up , his name is Johnathan. He's a maintenance person hired by Prescott college and he drives the large white truck. As a college, it's important to remember that every member of your staff, not just your professors, represents your institution's values including those in maintenance roles, since each interaction shapes the perception of your brand. Hopefully the college can address this internally before more bad faith is generated because of this guy. read more

As a current student, I can confidently say you should get your master's anywhere else. The teachers are always late with grades, give vauge feedback, which is annoying because how is a student supposed to get better at writing or processing course topics without appropriate feedback? Why are we 8 weeks into the program with no grades or Input? The student aid and registrar staff are super rude. Marion specifically was useless and rude when I asked how to withdraw from a class. My advisor doesn't reply to my emails, especially the important ones where I asked how to contact the disability office and how to withdraw from a class. We pay thousands of dollars for bullshit. I'm mad. It is unacceptable. They also have been fucking students over on their returns. So many students' taxes were off when they got their TI- whatever form. We were supposed to get 100 back, but I wasn't able to, and they gave multiple students incorrect amounts on their tax forms. This place is a scam. Everyone is rude and doesn't do their job. You pay to get abused. Grad school should not be this much of a hassle. GO ANYWHERE ELSE! read more

The courses I attended were interesting and I enjoyed the content, however, an absolute waste of money (over a grand for one course). I had technical problems with their online platforms almost every day. I enrolled in two classes, but never attended due to traumatic events forcing me to leave the state. They are a rich private school and still sent what I owed to small claims. I tried to talk with them and I never got a single thing out of the courses because I couldn't participate! I can't even transfer my courses I did complete because they weren't transferable. Don't support this place. Get a better education for cheaper somewhere else and that actually has their online platforms functional. read more

As current student of the school I can honestly say that Prescott college offers a unique close knit and loving community. Within this community students have the opportunity to thrive in a hands-on experiential learning process. The faculty continuously show their care and dedication to the students and the unique educational approach that Prescott College offers through hands-on mentorship and a welcoming teaching attitude. While all schools certainly encounter difficulties in varying opinions I find Prescott College has an interpersonal approach to finding a middle ground for all people. PC has one of the most beautiful campuses I've seen ...But that's the most positive thing I can say about this school. It's just plain shitty, they lie to you over and over again the only thing they didn't lie about was their graduation rate, 40%! Are you kidding ?! The second most expensive college in Arizona , 70% acceptance rate and only 40% graduate ? That's ridiculous. They are rude and biased on top of everything, The RA system is completely useless and gives students too much power. They fuck up your taxes. They dodge every question you have, they make excuses instead of being honest. Just overall the most bullshit school I've ever seen. Don't waste your time or money. read more

Prescott College Library refuses to allow anyone to use the library computers except Prescott College Students. I was with a faculty member from Yavapai College and she was told to get off of the computer in the library. There was no one else in the entire Library at this time. No one except us. No students. No one except this librarian who said "I'm just doing my job." Apparently she sees her job as making sure Prescott College is NOT part of the Prescott Community. Yavapai College allows Prescott College Students to use their computers. All Prescott Public Libraries allow Prescott Students to use their computers. read more

Our son strongly considered attending PC, and after months of trying to get simple questions answered, he decided to attend Humboldt State university in California. PC has one the lowest graduation rates and is the most expensive school in the state. We're paying less for him to attend an out of state school with much higher credentials. They answered all our questions on the first call and provided everything in writing. PC felt like a series of really bad sales calls. We've just returned from watching our son graduate from Prescott College and also spending a few days touring around the area while realizing that he has gained a very thorough understanding of the geology of the region. As a student in Geology myself I was very impressed with the depth of his understanding. With Prescott College in the rear view mirror (unless he decides to go back for graduate work at some point) I can truly say that this was a great little school and perfect for our son who needs to get his hands dirty when he is learning to effectively latch onto the information. The very highly personalized graduation ceremony gave us added insight into the tight knit community that exists around learning and making a difference at Prescott. If you are looking for a unique college education that is experiential and challenging, this is a great place to consider. The small nature of the school also means that the staff in administration and finance will go out of their way to make college affordable and as painless as possible. I love Prescott College. It's a shining star in the darkened sky of overrated, uninspiring forms of higher education. As a graduate student, a Teaching Assistant, and an adjunct, I loved every second mingling with the brilliant undergraduates, passionate and deeply invested fellow graduate students, and dedicated faculty. If you naturally question everything, if you want to step off the conveyor belt in the factory that has become the college/university system in this country, if you want to make a meaningful difference in the world and find mentors to guide you, this place is it.
