My daughter attended PELC nearly three years. My daughter is very happy and excited to go there everyday. My daughter always talk about how much she had fun with all the teachers and staff as well as her class mates! She is very happy and I think she feels like she is really a part of PELC family as well as mother, myself. Because all the teachers and staff are so caring and loving!! My daughter was a very shy girl initially but now she is very sociable and also very curious. My daughter currently attends full day three year old class, their curriculum is also very well organized and she learned a lot. Also I would like to mention that she was so excited to attend a Hot Shot sports program by Mr. Dave. I really wish I could send my son here but a waiting list was too long at that time. My son was able to attend their summer school and he was still talking about how excited and interesting it was! read more

We love this preschool! Our daughter started here in 2022, in the 2's class. We were very apprehensive as this was a kid who was super shy and been socially distanced in the pandemic. The first few months were tough but the teachers were super supportive and they had an extra assistant teacher who just hung out with her till she got comfortable to join the class. Fast forward to 2025, after completing her TK class here, our daughter is all equipped to join Kinder in a "big school". This year has especially impressive with themes every week, art and songs to go with the theme, lots of reading and writing without worksheets!! Kids learn via play, and love it. They do so much art daily, that you'd have to buy boxes if you decided to preserve them all. :) We also loved the playgrounds in each year, perfect for the age group and separated from other ages to keep them safe. Another plus is the events, they celebrate many festivals, performances for Mother's Day/Father's Day and Christmas! Last but not the least, the staff is amazing! All three classrooms that our daughter went to (sunflower, dragonfly and TK) have had loving and attentive teachers. Couldn't have asked for a better experience! read more

My son went to PECL for two years. He absolutely loved PELC, and the sunflower and rainbow classes he attended, and so did we! The teachers are just wonderful. Every teacher and staff we have worked with is so kind and loving. The classes are small, the activities and also snacks are high quality. Every kid there is happy, confident and curious. If you've been to other schools you will see the differences. I just wish they can extend to elementary school grades! read more

Awesome teachers here! Great covid protocols, my kid didn't get covid at all here during the pandemic.

The staff is amazing from the front office to the wonderful teachers. The students and families who attend PELC make the community and overall experience even better. My daughters miss their fiends and teachers during SIP, but the wonderful school still hold ZOOM calls and my kids love it. A few years ago (2016) we were looking for daycare for our oldest (now 5) and PELC came highly recommended. Thank you to everyone at PELC! read more

My daughter has been going to PELC since August of 2010. We enrolled her based on the amazing reveiws that we have gotten from friends and neighbors over the years. And now that we're there, we can see why this preschool has been around for 50 yrs! Everything in the class is so well organized and lessons are thoughtfully planned. All staff is very warm and loving, always saying hello to my daughter by name each and every morning. The office staff even knows my child by name and tells me little stories of things they have observed through the window while she's out playing. Many of the staffmembers and teachers and have been there for YEARS. All seem to get along very well together and really enjoy being there. I get the feeling that it's more than a job for them; they love these kids!! For us, this is as good as it gets. The school is as close to a family and home environment as can be in a structured preschool setting. The classrooms are well kept and the playground is amazing. It's like the kids have their own private park! Fridays are extra special as the kids get to have their faces painted and some one these are VERY elaborate! My daughter came home bearing a striking resemblence to Hello Kitty a few weeks back. It was amazing! I can't say enough about how loving and nurturing the environment is at PELC. My daughter is already enrolled to move onto the 4 yr old class next Fall and we are thrilled as is she!! WE LOVE PELC!! read more

We loved PELC SO MUCH! My daughter attended butterfly and rainbow rooms and both years she had amazing teachers. I do feel academics are not that important in these years and kids at Pelc play, play and play, and my kid has grown so much through playing. They gently encouraged her to persevere and to overcome her shyness. She has truly blossomed there. Thank you wonderful Ms Kelly and Ms Sue and Ms Amber and Ms Vivi, you are forever in our hearts! read more

I'm loving this year in the Sunshine Room! My daughter has been in the rainbow and sunshine room (full times 3s and 4s) and also spends a little bit of time in the Pre-K room with Ms. Sue. Quick list of great things here: -The teachers here are loving and FUN! We have especially loved Ms. Lynette, Ms. Hailey, Ms. Susila, Ms. Sherilyn, and Ms. Sue -Ms. Frevert is a retired teacher and teaches a music class 1X a week for the kids and my daughter loves it -There's a PE program, additional fee, but it's been great -The office staff can't be beat. I've had some great interactions and experiences with Grace, the director and Susan who is the gatekeeper of all information here. I have some friends who are in the part time programs and they are having similar experiences. read more

My younger brother went to PELC after my parents decided that the preschool I attended wasn't a good fit for him. They chose PELC based on stellar recommendations from family and friends, and we were not disappointed. It is clear why this school has so many fans and has been around for so long, my brother still talks about how amazing his teachers were and how much he learned. Now, my friends' children attend and I love hearing them rave about PELC and the teachers and the curriculum. The staff know all the kids by name, even those in other classes, and even remember things like their favourite superhero or what they did on their last vacation. Much of the staff that was there when my brother attended is still there, and they remember him and his favourite things even though it's been years since he was in their classes. They clearly love their jobs and the kids they work with, and their energy and love for their job is contagious. PELC is by far the best preschool I have had experience with, and the reviews from family and friends are always the best! PELC is amazing! read more

I have been sending my children to PELC for 2 years now and have loved every minute of it. PELC does a wonderful job creating a warm, nurturing, safe environment where my both kids feel completely at home. I have continuously extended how much of the day my daughter spends at PELC and still she never gets enough or wants to come home! The teachers are very warm and friendly to parents and children alike. I am a fan of all the fun projects, the Mother's Day Out program, the teachers and environment...but most of all, I am so happy to send my kids to a place that they just love. What more could you want in introducing your child to 'school' than a place that fosters a love of learning while feeling as warm and safe as at home?? :) read more

We love PELC! 2 year old has been in the Firefly (intro to preschool) class this year and she loves it and her teachers. Love the focus on play and great ratios, and her teachers are very caring and warm. read more

I am both a parent and a teacher with the PELC family and I would recommend it highly to anyone looking for quality care for their children. Both of my daughters have been through the program and we have been extremely happy with each and every class. My girls formed close bonds with all of their teachers and came home with art, smiles, and stories each day. If you really want to find out about the program, you should come by and visit our school, where you will undoubtedly find a number of happy parents willing to tell you about their own child's experience here. Better yet, schedule a visit to one of the classrooms and see the children for yourself. What you will find here is smiles, laughter, and love in any classroom that you visit. We have potential parents visit our classrooms all the time. and while these are scheduled visits, our classrooms have an open door policy and we have parents in our rooms throughout the day. I work in the full time program, where parents pick up and drop off their children at all hours of the day, often times staying to chat about their child, or simply watch as the children play. As a result, teachers here are constantly observed while caring for children. Parents see how we teach, how we resolve conflicts, how we discipline, and how we feed the children in our care. These are the same parents who return time and again to bring in siblings and refer friends and families to our program. Teachers here are kind, caring, and responsible people. True, I am bias, I work here. I know and love all the teachers in the program. However, that bias comes from working here for almost 14 years and having worked with many of my co-teachers for at least a decade. We are happy here, which is a solid foundation on which to build a nurturing environment for children. Preschool is a time of vital development in a child's life and one should always take great care in choosing a program. I truly feel the best way to do that is to visit the program in person. Look at the children. Are they engaged? Are they smiling? Look at the teachers. Do they seem natural and comfortable interacting with children? Look at the facilities. Do they look safe and inviting? is there enough space for children to play? Ask questions. Find out about the school's philosophy and curriculum. And then ask yourself if you can see your child blossoming in such an environment. For my own children, and the hundreds that i have taught here at PELC, the answer is overwhelmingly, yes. read more

I guess it's really hard to write an impartial review on a preschool as it concerns our most precious children. We are from a foreign country and my son didn't speak english at all. He is also kind of shy. So, we were searching for a preschool where he can be exposed to english of course and where teachers are caring enough for him not to feel alone. PELC completely filled out our needs. Of course, there is room to improve (I never heard about the perfect preschool even the one you pay 1000$ a month...). In my opinion, the pros are: Caring and gentle teachers Facilities (great playground and classrooms) Lots of craft and activities Reasonable price Perfect amount of activities involving parents (Halloween parade, Christmas show, etc...) The cons: Communication with parents (although they have improved their billing com and they have a monthly newsletter now). Complex system for extra school activities (lunch, hot-shots) My son loves the school and enjoys going so this is finally the most important for me ! read more

We had our two sons go here, both attending the 2's, 3's, and 4's rooms and the second one attending pre-kindergarten here. Pros: Most of the teachers are nice. I can't say many were particularly warm, but most were nice. They really focus on play instead of academics, which I appreciate. There's plenty of time for academics later. There's endless crafts; painting, gluing, drawing (crafts that they bring home)... and endless use of hands-on toys with magnets, beads, building toys, etc., a nice playground with sand and grass shaded by trees and a canopy. This is what I loved about PELC. At this age, I want my child using his senses to explore the world. Adorable singing performances for Christmas, Mother's Day, and Father's Day. Cons: The quiet child is not tolerated here. They MUST find a friend to play with ALL the time. Parent requests to allow the child to rest (maybe read in a quiet corner) are not honored and are in fact met with open disdain. When you have a problem and feel the need to escalate it to the director, Grace, she is hostile and tells you that you can leave PELC if you don't like it and threatens to kick you out even. Many sugary snacks. Overall, it's a decent place if your child fits in their box. Just be warned that if you have issues, they are often met with open disdain. If you don't like it, it's time to start looking elsewhere. read more

I couldn't disagree more with the negative reviewers. My child went to PELC for four years, in both the Mother's Day Out program and the preschool, and I can only say good things. We've always been welcome to observe and encouraged to come in and share something with the class (I've visited to read stories and to cook). I've never seen the need for the teachers to discipline a child: They help kids defuse and resolve problems before they escalate. My son has used the techniques he learned at PELC at home, even teaching his older sibling a thing or two. Teachers have been warm and friendly, and respectful when my son shy wanted some space at first. He soon warmed up, and we've been happy to see him become increasingly confident and outgoing with his classmates and the adults on campus. The flexible after-hours care policy has been a tremendous help, allowing my spouse and I to handle last-minute work demands and school commitments for our other child. My child spent mornings with the full class, and some afternoons with a smaller group -- his teachers' observations of how he interacted in each group size was very helpful, and they've helped him grow happily comfortable in both settings. We've had a few teachers change, but for the most part my son enjoys visiting with teachers throughout his time at PELC. We stayed in the 4's classroom instead of pre-K, and my child is well-prepared to start kindergarten this fall. The school communicates the monthly themes and daily activities. While there is no written daily report -- how could there be time for that? -- teachers have been very open to chatting with parents at drop-off and pick-up. Our family has experience with some other preschools too, and I am so glad we found PELC (and so are most of the other families we know there.) read more

I have two children currently attending PELC and I could not be happier. I have enrolled them in both the Mother's Day out programs and the part-time preschool and both have been a great fit for my family. The teachers are extremely loving, warm and welcoming. PELC has been great at adapting and changing to meet the needs of their customers. This year they extended the part-time preschool hours to 9-12pm and it is so much better. They also added a program called enrichment and additional drop-in hours to help families have a more flexible schedule based on their needs. Lastly, PELC is affordable. It is an excellent value for the money. The loving and dedicated staff, the hot shots and music programs and the clean, welcoming facility all make this an excellent choice for both mother's day out and preschool education. read more

It was a difficult decision in finding a preschool for my daughter when she was 2 1/2 , but am so glad I found PELC. The teachers are warm and very involved with the children. My daughter loves going to school and has grown so much academically, and socially. The director is very visible and available. She is very involved with students, parents and staff. I love feeling comfortable and confident about where my child spends her day! read more

I'm so glad I found the Fireflies class for my son. He has had a wonderful year attending PELC and loves his teachers, who are incredibly caring, warm and kind. All the staff in the office are lovely too and I would recommend PELC to any parent. read more

My middle child went to PELC from the age of 18 months - 4.5 years and my youngest began in the Mother's Day Out program at the age of 5 months and is still there, almost 2 years later. I love this preschool!! Many of the teachers have been at PELC for more than 10 years. They are highly experienced and very nurturing towards the children. They treat every child like he/she is the most special child in the room. Over the years, I've also had many positive interactions with the Executive Director who has a stellar reputation within the local preschool community. Above all, she is fair and always has the best interests of the children in mind. It sounds simple but the most accurate word to describe PELC is "nice" -nice teachers, nice facilities, nice playgrounds, nice programs, nice office staff. If you are looking for a preschool for your child, I don't think you could ask for anything more than PELC offers - loving and experienced teachers, developmentally appropriate curriculum, flexible program options, well-equipped indoor and outdoor facilities and happy, happy children! My only regret is that I didn't find this preschool earlier so that my oldest child could have had the PELC experience. read more

I cannot say enough good things about the school.... My three children have attended PELC and I have always been impressed by their teachers. My children have been in 5 different classrooms: Infant room -MDO Toddler room -MDO 2 year old part time 3 year old part time Full time 4's Pre-k with different teachers according to the age groups. All the teachers were very caring, always telling a little something that happened to my child, showing that they care and making me feel that my child was special. Children get individualized attention, rocking when they need a hug before nap time, many many hugs and laughs and they love their teachers! I am amazed at how the teachers remember my children's names even 2 or 3 years later and ask them about their new school.... They always make them feel important, reinforcing their self-esteem. My son began the pre-K year with a lot of anxiety and shyness. Mis Deborah and miss Sue were just wonderful. He grew so much and it is thanks to them and the environment they created. He had a hard time making friends and they asked me in the beginning if the year to let them know if he talked about a classmate at home so that they could help him build friendship with that person. It was very reassuring knowing tha they were aware and helpful. When I dropped my daughter on her first day of Full time 4, she had a hard time letting me go and I felt so sad. I started crying so I left quickly so that she wouldn't see me and one of her teachers followed me outside and actually hugged me! Saying that she knew how hard it was for me and that everything would be fine. They called me an hour later...told me everything was great, my daughter was happy..... ....priceless! That same year , in the beginning of the year, my daughter was sad the first couple of weeks because she had always been with me and missed me. When i talked to the office, the director went right away in the classroom and observed. She didn't take a chance and I knew also then that the kids happiness was one of her top priority. The infant room is just what I was looking for. Caring and nurturing staff, always smiling and greeting us extensively when we were coming in. And since my second child started in the infant room 5 years ago, this class has the same teachers. This is how great they are ;) The school is flexible. They have a part time program from 9 to 12 with the option of staying until 2. For the part-time pre-K the flexibility was even greater with the option of leaving them for 1,2,3,4 or 5 hours extra....even making the decision on the same day.... Mr Dave brings Hot Shots to PELC, it's a sports program that the kids loooove! Mr Dave is so funny, I usually come a little early to pick up my children just to hear the kids laugh at mr. Dave's silly jokes and faces. Every time I walk into the ofifice, Susan welcomes me with a smile. She's always been very nice and helpful. I was very indecisive as to wether to enroll my children full time/part-time... And she was very patient. When I have a question or I decide to leave my kids one hour longer in school, I email her and I get a reply within the hour. I have recommended this school to 5 families who followed my advice and they were all very satisfied. I am very happy that I still have one little boy at PELC because it is going to be very hard to part from this School. read more

My daughter has been going to PELC for over three years. She was in the Mother's Day Out program and then transitioned to the part-time 3's (Teddy Bear room) and then to the part-time 4's (Fantasyland). I have nothing but praise for this organization and it's teachers. My daughter was a shy girl who clung to me when I first started taking her and has just blossomed in the three years she has attended their program. The teachers know her name by the second week of class. The projects are fun and learning based and the children have a great time. My daughter wishes she could go every day. I am not familiar with the case of the previous report, but I have been told I can drop in at any time and attend class. They have an open door policy. And I have dropped by and so has my mom and my husband, on various occasions and they have always seen the children being taken excellent care of and having lots of fun. I also have to say that the administrators are great. Especially Susan in the front office. The teachers are well educated and caring. The organization donates to various non-profits in the Sunnyvale area and I think that is really important for our children to see the benefits of helping the community. I am a pretty picky parent and I have been pleasantly surprised by the organization and learning plans associated with PELC. I would definitely recommend the part-time program. I would also recommend Hot Shots for after school program. read more

Both my kids have been attending PELC since they were 2 years old. My older daughter graduated last year and my son still have one more year to go. My daughter was very shy and I believe PELC did a great job helping my daughter transition to kindergarten so smoothly. My son constantly complaints to me that I pick him up too early from school as he never gets enough time at school. Teachers are very personable and both my kids so far had the same teachers. I highly recommend this preschool to everyone. read more

Both my kids started at PELC since they were 2 and a half. We've been there since 2006! My daughter is now in elementary school and my son starts kinder this fall, so this will be his last year there :( We've had the same teachers since the beginning. The last 5 years have been an amazing pre-school experience for our whole family. We love it there and obviously so do my kids, since the have never complained about going to "school" and at pick up time they always want me to come back later "because i came too early". The teachers are warm, caring and very nurturing to the children. they truly pour their heart and soul into them. Teachers and office staff have been like family to us and we will miss them dearly. The best thing we have gotten from PELC is PEACE OF MIND...and that's priceless!! read more

Our second child now attends this school and our family has been with the school for 4 years, since our first child started at 2 years old. We love this school. The staff and teachers were very understanding and helpful with our oldest's food allergies. We had no concerns for his safety while he was in their care. The teachers carefully reviewed the snacks with us to confirm that they were appropriate for his allergies and they were always healthy. The snacks for the younger children were also posted on the wall in calendar form. The teachers are very loving and caring and really work with the parents to make the children comfortable in the school. We are also very happy to see that we have the same teachers for both of our children. The staff in the office is very helpful and accommodating with regards to schedule and any other concerns with the school. Regarding the sick policy, the school does not allow children with fevers, rashes, or obvious infection with post nasal drip. Our children did not get sick more frequently when they were in school or out of school (breaks during the school year like Thanksgiving, winter, or spring breaks.) Every child is different and our younger got sick more often than the older and they both went to the same school just during different years. Happy 50th PELC! read more

Words cannot capture how grateful I am to the care and education my three boys received for the PELC. The staff was professional, caring and educated. All three of my boys are different and the teachers were brilliant at being able to teach and work with each of my boys in ways that were effective and sensitive to their gifts and personalities. All of my kids are excelling in elementary school and the PELC was helpful and foundational to their success. I HIGHLY recommend this pre-school. read more

I have three children and each of them are currently attending PELC; our oldest child started at PELC 3.5 years ago - beginning with the Mom's Day Out program (part-time infant program). Since then, our children have attended the part-time pre-school programs and the full-time programs for three year olds, four year olds and pre-k. Each of them enjoy PELC and ask to go to "school" each day. The teachers and office staff have always been kind, nurturing and attentive to our children and their needs; and they have always assisted our children through any developmental milestones the children were facing (potty-training, dropping naps, separation anxiety, educational milestones, etc.). PELC staff has worked with us each step of the way. Because I have three children who attend PELC (some part-time and some full-time classes), I am at PELC a few times a day on most days; and I have only ever witnessed the staff being attentive to the children, interacting with them, playing with them, reading with them, etc. Each morning, the teachers greet the children and parents with smiles and welcome the children into the classroom; and I have always received detailed updates regarding the children and their activities whenever I asked for the information or when the teachers wanted to inform me about an event that occurred during the day. My children come home from PELC each day with new projects they worked on during the day. They also attend music class and they can sign up for a "gym" class during the week. Each class also has its schedule of topics and activities for the school year, along with differnt field trips that are scheduled throughout the year. When it comes to eating their lunch, our children have told us that their teachers encourage them to eat all their "growing food" - and the "growing food"refernce has become a common theme at dinner-time, as we continue that theme for eating healthy at home. We are so pleased with PELC that we have recommended it to other families we know; and their children have attended and do attend PELC, as well. read more

Everything I said in my first review is still true! After we graduated from the Pre-K program, my family moved overseas and my daughter had to skip ahead to the middle of Kinder. She was more than prepared for the transition and I continue to be grateful to PELC and the teachers there, especially Miss Sue and Miss Deborah. read more

I knew Susan, the one who posted the negative review. I saw her kids going through other programs afterwards. It is unfortunate that her kids cannot benefit from the loving and nurturing enviroment PELC provided. This year I think both full time 3-4 program are very strong. My kids went to PELC and they loved it. My son said he did not want to grow up and would like to stay in Sunshine Room forever because he was so happy there. The school is very well run. It is a hidden treasure in this area. read more

I want to write an update as our child attends another school now. There is one downside that I want to mention. My child does not get sick as often in the school. When my child was at PELC, there was a new bug brought home every week or every other week. Children who are sick are allowed to be in school and I think that is how the germs get spread easily. The part time classroom are shared with other classes on other days so the things get touched by different kids a lot more. Not sure if the toys are disinfected often enough. The classroom is actually quite small by comparison. Kind of claustaphobic and not condusive to growth than if there was more space in the classroom. Another minus is the billing/invoice system is not that great. read more

Wow! After reading that last review, I felt I had to put out another opinion on PELC. I've actually had experience with a number of preschools and daycares. I also visited many more just to check them out. PELC was by far one of the best. The facilities are clean & fun. Teachers are sweet. The administration is super accommodating to parents. I've never had any problems with them not letting me drop in unannounced (i.e. to drop off a lunch) or watch the kids playing on the playground. I have seen some turnover, but for the most part, the teachers just switch around between classrooms. They've been a PELC for a long time. I don't have any experience with the full-time daycare at PELC. read more

My 4 year-old has thrived at this school. She adores her teachers and she's always coming home singing songs she learned and showing us artwork she's done. In the 9 months she's been at the school, she has learned to read. The field trips have been wonderful too--Humane Society, Happy Hollow, and a planetarium to name a few. The only thing that can use a little improvement is the food they give the kids--we personally don't think Goldfish and spray-on "butter" are ok. Otherwise, this is a wonderful school. read more

PELC is a wonderful preschool and daycare center that I highly recommend to anyone looking for a nuturing, caring place for their children. I was new in the area when I enrolled my son in the preschool program. He had some transition and bathroom issues, but the teachers worked with him and me to smooth over those issues and to help him feel loved and wanted and cared for. What an amazing staff!! Even though my son is now taller than most of his old teachers, he is still greeted warmly when we are back at the school and they all say "remember when...." When my daughter was born and I enrolled her in the Mother's Day Out program I thought it would be hard to leave her. Instead, her teachers made it feel like a second home. She was snuggled, and rocked and sung to by the warmest of teachers. Obviously a school full of such wonderful teachers and staff has to be headed up by an equally wonderful administrator. Grace, the director of the school, was always willing to meet with me and discuss any issues or concerns that I had. She always conducted herself in a professional manner while at the same time she was warm and caring. I could not have asked for a better preschool experience for my children. I only wish they were young enough to send them back!!! read more

My daughter has been in PELC for over a year. She loves the school. I have never had problem getting her to school in the morning as she is always happy. Both my kids attended the 3 yr old and 4 yr old programs and my younger one is graduating from the 4 yr old program this summer. They both love the school and the teachers. Every time we drive by the school, they will point to it and say "my school, can we go there?" The school provides a very loving environment and the teachers play with the children constantly. I remember when my son fell on the wood-chips and laughed and asked me to oil him. I have no idea what he's talking about and spoke with a teacher afterward and she referenced the tin man in Wizard of Oz. Also they care about what the children eat, and they reinforce eating well and a balanced diet. I remember one time I only packed sweet rolls from my son's lunch and a teacher called me to double check if I missed packing other food groups and offered to give my son some carrots (PELC provides milk all the times). They have floaters to ensure good coverage at all times. The teachers and floaters have been with the school a long time. Where will you find teachers who have been at the same preschool for over 20 years!! PELC has them. These are observations from a mom's eye. When my older son turned six this year and I asked him what he wishes for; he looked me in the eye and told me he wished he's 5 again so he can go back to school at PELC. I know I have made the right choice and I will do it again if I have another child read more
