Our daughter absolutely loves this school. She was not doing well in a previous Cupertino preschool, and she'd constantly get sick there. We are very lucky to have a chance to send our son to the Children's cottage! We have a major life changing event last year, and we were in need of sending our son to his first daycare urgently. I was nervous about my son will have some adjustments period since there's no time for us to give him a heads up, but Miss Sally makes the transition so smooth that he loves to go back the next day! We sent our 2 yo boy to Sally's place about 4 months ago. My son is really shy and doesn't speak much around people he's unfamiliar with. Sally is very patient and kind. She always encouraged my son to play with the other kids. She will ask her assistant to read books and speak to my son to try to open him up a bit. We've been sending our son to Children's Cottage for 4.5 months and have really enjoyed seeing him grow and learn during that time! He started at Children's Cottage when he was 21 months old. We decided to start him on a part-time basis for two weeks as we transitioned away from our full-time nanny. Sally was super supportive during that time as it was a big change for us all. Drop-off was tough for about a week with some tears, but Sally would send regular text messages and photos with updates on how he was doing, which was so great for us to see. Now that my son is settled in, he loves it there. He's so happy in the morning when we arrive and drop-off is now a breeze. We were so lucky to have found Sally's Children's Cottage when we did, and I recommend her to everyone that asks. Sally took such good care of our son for 3 years, during which time, she taught him Mandarin, how to nap, fed him fresh food (that ruined him for the school lunches at his current after-care), and helped us greatly with potty training. My son was 13-months when he started, and took to Sally right away. I took to Sally's clean, organized, and colorful classroom and outdoor setup. She provides just enough structure for the kids to learn and feel safe, but at the same time, she isn't too rigid. Sally is there at drop-off and pick-up almost every single day to communicate with the parents, and all of her other teachers and caretakers are great with the kids. While I tried to be on time for pick-up, whenever I couldn't get there in time, she was always understanding, and during that time her son would play basketball with my son or she'd let my son help them wash fruit for their dinner. This is a wonderful place. I have recommended her childcare and preschool to many of my friends. My older son went here and now my younger son (22 mo) is also coming here. Sally and her helper (Mei) are very loving toward the kids they take care Sally provides routine and structure for the kids. Every Tuesday is sharing day. Kids bring a toy to share. Every Wednesday is phonic. My younger son started here at around 18 mo old and wasn't saying more than 5 words on a regular basis. He is now 22 mo old and can speak in simple sentences. He understands English, Cantonese and Mandarin. Thursday is art or circle time. Friday is art. Her philosophy is when they can can hold a pencil, she teaches them to draw a circle. She also teach the kids to clean up. While cleaning up, she teaches the kids to count to 20. Sally also take into consideration of your child's strengths and weaknesses when she looks after the kids. With my older son, she saw that he picked things up really fast. So even when he was 2, she put him with the 3 years and older kids and taught them together. With my younger son, she noticed that he was a good eater. Since 18 mo old, he has been eating with the older kids (3 years old and older). Lastly, Sally has pets in her home. She has a goldfish that the kids can feed. She has a dog that the kids can play with. She has a fruit and vegetable garden that kids can help harvest food from when they are in season. I was very worried if she can make it because she always lose her temper at home and can hardly sit in the chair for more than 5 minutes before her daycare started. After having heard of our concerns, Sally invited me and my husband to her home for a one-hour discussion. During the discussion, Sally patiently asked every detail of our daughter and then told us she believed my daughter will be fine. The first week was as expected: my daughter cried badly. However, Sally and other two teachers paid great attention to help my daughter for the transition. She would also send us texts with photos about how she is doing at school almost every day, and schedule regular phone discussions about my daughter's progress. This is really a delayed review we intended to do a long time ago. We trusted Sally and her nice stuff with our baby since she was only a few months old and it has been almost two years. She enjoys going there everyday and had so much fun. Other than the good care she received, the little kids there had outdoor time as long as weather allows and a lot of fun activities. Sally is really tidy and keeps the environment clean which we care the most. She is a great artist and introduced manageable art activities incorporating different cultures which our little girl enjoys a lot. For the past two years, our little one has grown to be a happy, very good mannered, independent and socially intelligent toddler.
