We've had our jewelry repaired at various jewelers both in and out of the country. Late yesterday I stopped by Decatur Jewelry & Pawn for a repair estimate. I went there because another Jeweler in Decatur tried raising their estimate by 60% after our jewelry had been left with them for 3 work days and we had already agreed on a price. I spoke with a very knowledgeable gentleman at Decatur Jewelry & Pawn. He examined the ring and told me what repair would be necessary then quoted me a price. I agreed on that price as it was a small fraction of what the other jeweler wanted for doing the same work. I just picked up the piece of jewelry and it looks brand new. I'm very impressed with the professionalism of both the sales and jeweler who worked on the ring. We will do business again with these wonderful people. Thank you Decatur Jewelry & Pawn.

This shop just opened up in Urbana (as of June 2007); it is spawned from another Buy-Sell-Trade…read moreStore in Springfield. It's kind of a hybrid pawn shop / thrift store / collectible shop. They certainly have a lot of stuff here, and I'd suggest you check it out: tools, collectibles, some motorcycles, dolls, guitars, etc. If you want an antique cane, they have them. If you want a compound bow, you can get it for about $50. But speaking of prices, that's where things get a bit odd: some things in the store seem to me to be a bit overpriced. Some are a lot overpriced. And for a collectible shop, not everything seems to be terribly well cared for. On the day I went there, a lot of people were selling their things to the gal behind the desk (not the desk with the young kids running the registers). So you might get a few bucks for your stuff here, if you're not into selling via Craigslist or eBay. UPDATE: this joint closed faster than spit! Forget it ever existed

I was sold a USED firearm without being warned that the object I was purchasing may very well have been placed down someone else's pants. 2. I was then verbally berated by the owner after requesting a refund. 3. I was then written a nasty disrespectful message from Perry the owner. Response from the owner 2 hours ago Not much of a response needed here. Just facts. Joe is in his living room. Loads magazine into a firearm that he fails to check to see if it's loaded. IT IS. Points gun at wall & pulls trigger, blasting his wall. Tries hiding stupidity from wife & kids. He FAILS every gun safety fundamental there is. He's embarrassed & asks to return firearm because it's defective. I explain how he failed every gun safety measure & suggest he takes a gun safety course before owning a firearm. Of course, this is all our fault. Enough said. 1. I had a snap cap in one hand and a bullet in the other and mixed them up by accident. (As I told Perry the owner) 2. I do NOT HAVE A WIFE OR KIDS! (He has completely fabricated that nonsense) 3. I NEVER claimed the gun was defective. 4. The only fault that Perry and his shop are responsible for is the fact that I was told the gun was new, or I would not have purchased it. 5. Why don't we honest people just puke at the thought of this pitiful putz and move on.
