I recently scheduled a Deluxe Collagen Pedicure, and the experience was extremely disappointing from beginning to end.
Several basic parts of a proper pedicure were skipped. There were no cuticle care and no dead skin removal at all, and the exfoliation/buffing lasted mere seconds. For a deluxe service, it felt rushed and incomplete.
The hot stones -- which are part of the Deluxe Collagen Pedicure -- were completely forgotten until I pointed it out.
After leaving the salon, I drove 30 minutes to my sister's house. When I later removed my flip-flops, I noticed polish all over my toes and on my flip-flops. It was messy and still very sticky, clearly not properly finished or dried. It occurred to me that the polish must have been old.
Because of this, I had to drive the full 30 minutes back to the salon.
When I returned, I then sat there for a full hour while they repeatedly tried to fix and repaint my toes with the same bottle of paint. It was a simple black, nothing fancy. This was simple nail polish, yet it required steady repainting for an entire hour to correct what should have been done properly the first time.
At one point, an older gentleman stepped in and actually brought out a tin can of paint thinner and poured it into the polish bottle in front of me to thin it out before applying it to my nails. That was extremely unprofessional.
To make matters worse, when I spoke with the owner about it, after she finally fixed it using new polish, she refused to provide a partial refund or even a gift card. Instead, she said, "If you come back, I'll give you a discount." I explained that I live out of town. Offering a vague future discount -- with no documentation -- is not a professional resolution to an issue like this.
Between the skipped steps in the deluxe pedicure, the forgotten hot stones, the messy and sticky polish, the hour spent repainting, the two separate 30-minute drives, the use of paint thinner in front of me, and the refusal to provide a proper resolution, this experience was frustrating, time-consuming, and far below what I expect when paying quite a lot for a service.
I do not feel this met even basic professional standards. read more
