Portion size is very good and the roasts are particularly good. In addition to the pub meals there is also a carvery which is excellent and you can choose to eat in the bar or restaurant area. There is a small indoor childrens play area so after the meal the children can play while you have a quiet drink! There is also an outdoor play area with a small crazy golf area and they have accomadation as well although Ive never stayed in that. Overall one of the best places for Sunday lunch with the family.

Perched on The Hoe, it's about 100 yards from some of the most spectacular scenery in the world, Plymouth harbor and an easy walk along the sea to the Barbican area. The rooms are very comfortable (maybe a little old fashioned) with enough modern conveniences such as very fast wi-fi and flat screen TV - to make your in room time relaxing (we did not always find such good wi-fi in our travels). There are menu items (not a buffet) for breakie that are well cooked and served to a perfection in fine English fashion. I learned from the staff what eggs and soldiers are, for example. The hotel includes a small bar for that chapeau de soir after a long day of touring. The desk staff at any time of the day were charming and so helpful. For what we wanted in a hotel (not really a B&B in my mind), we could not have done better.

Most hotels in Plymouth seem to be in this part of town right near Plymouth Hoe. Third, it has a spa and a golf course so while I was getting a surprise facial and massage, my guy played a round of golf (that's a win-win in my book). Lastly, the best cream tea I've ever had. Literally. The scones were soooo fresh and the clotted cream and jam were of the highest quality and you can sit in this stodgy room overlooking the sea feeling very posh. The staff appear to have been trained to provide the service of a senior living property where mediocore meals are served as rapidly as possible. No one goes out of their way to provide assistance nor are they friendly. We were supposed to stay five nights after two nights of the rude service at this hotel and the rushed meals, we left. The sea location is lovely and the golf was free but that is the only positive statement I can make about this hotel. Based on the reviews I am seeing from years prior, it appears that this hotel has really gone down hill over the years.
