My experience at prehistoric was amazing. The customer service was very welcoming, and you might think by the name or the decor that it is just bones, but there is a lot more history a lovely place to stop if you are in Lincoln city

Various species of trilobites, one with intact eyestalks!!

This place is awesome! Filled to the brim with amazing fossils, stones, dinosaur bones, jewelry, and a hand-made geode cracking machine. Pick a geode (the lighter ones have a large hollow space full of larger crystals, and the heavy ones are packed with tiny crystals) and put it in the vice. Turn the wheel and crack it open like an egg. Open it up to reveal your own little piece of history. Fun for kids! There's also a fun little sleucing trough, where you buy a bucket of rocky sand and you sift through it to reveal treasures. There are ancient coins for sale, from circa 300 BCE Rome, and we purchased a lovely pirate plundered coin from the late 1500s. There are also a few choice Civil War era finds. The owner was delightful and happy to answer all your questions. He was especially knowledgeable about the dinosaur bones and incredible trilobite fossils. Don't miss the amazing trilobite coffee table, it's real! Everything was reasonably priced, especially for serious collectors. Need a Woolly Mammoth tusk? You can find one here for a mere $20,000. Bottom line: Fun and interesting for history buffs of all ages. Don't miss the second room.

We stopped by here whole we were driving through on a road trip to California. The cashier wouldn't let us use the restroom and was generally hostile. They sent me and my daughter in a direction that was all 21+ or not open. We ended up walking about 4 blocks before there was a restaurant that we could pop into. But, after breakfast and bathroom, we went back because I could NOT handle getting right back in the car. Everything is ridiculously expensive. But--they did get an extra star because there was cool things to look at, and, provided you went in there because you needed to get out of the car for 20 minutes and dont care what people treat you like as long as they dont throw you out, it's a pretty cool tourist trap.

    Crazy fun.

What an amazing place. The owners are so nice and truly share their passion with customers. They explained everything to us and were so kind. They have a great passion and love for fossils and it shows. The kids loved it so much. Definitely be back.

Unique and amazing shop! The dinosaur out front is fun to watch and only hints at the actual dinosaur skeletons inside! This shop has everything from small rocks and minerals to one of a kind specimens. We spent quite a bit of time looking at everything we will buy when we hit the lottery. But they also have very affordable pieces as well A must see when in Lincoln City

Great displays and selection but the price was a bit too extreme for me. Worth stopping by and checking things out though.

Super cool spot, hidden gem. The guy working was super friendly and very kind to my little one while she was picking out her crystal.

Boys that regularly play tackle football and wrestle in my family room. I've never regretted an art purchase. But, I have regretted walking away from some over the years. And in some cases have gone to great lengths to procure a piece I spotted while on vacation. The reason is that I typically like to step back and think about it for awhile before making a purchase. My bright line for making an art purchase is whether it tortures me a little bit by its absence. The Volta Glass Gallery is across the street from the Jennifer Sears Glass Art Studio and is where the artists based there sell their work. After making my own glass art, it gave me an even greater appreciation for the artists working in this medium. When I walked into Volta, I was greeted by Kelly Howard and gravitated toward the most recent addition to her collection. A stunning piece and we had a lovely conversation about her work in the gallery. Everything from light fixtures to glass floats and a lot in between. I thought about it for a day and returned to make my purchase. Even though it was no longer Black Friday, they gave me the special discount we discussed on my initial visit. Great customer service all around. I'm thrilled to have acquired two new pieces for my collection on this trip to the coast. My amateur effort and the work of a master in the field.
