Unfortunately, I got here just slightly too late to properly enjoy the gardens themselves, as there were a *lot* of great art galleries to stop at on the way nearby (intentionally), so as it was already starting to get dark when we got here. But that is also a great time to enjoy the view back over the river and the heart of Porto from above on the hill. It was also a great time, until it got fully dark and they all went to sleep, to see, basically right when we walked in, a bunch of ducks, a handful of large geese (cool, but we gave them a wide space; geese have an attitude and you could tell they knew they could walk wherever they liked!), even a couple peacocks (though I would later learn, the best place in Portugal to see peacocks by far would be the castle in Lisbon, which has a whole huge flock of them.) Would I pay to get in? Probably not. But I also didn't have to; it's a free public park. :D

We originally signed up for the tour of the Old Jewish Community, but learned so much more as we walked the streets. Hugo and his associate have advanced degrees and are knowledgeable about the history, industry, and economics of the fascinating country of Portugal. I regret not taking this tour earlier so that I could have visited other sights such as the "Port Wine & Douro Institute". My guide was able to educate me on both topics with equal fluency. My next visit will include a bike tour along the waterfront!

Sergio had everything ready to go when we arrived at the shop and was very helpful in giving us tips about the area and biking the camino. We would definitely go with Fold 'n visit again for future trips to Porto.

I'm a member of Virgin Active in the UK and wanted to use the gym while we were in Porto. I tried to explain this to the people at the Porto Virgin but I don't really speak Portuguese and the English of the people on reception wasn't great either, but eventually everybody understood each other and they were delighted to welcome us into their gym, free of charge. They gave us a tour and couldn't have been more helpful. The gym itself was large and well air conditioned, and had plenty of equipment in the weights areas. My only criticism would be that it had no free standing squat rack.

The help are often rude and inappropriate, and the help act as if they own you and that they are superior to you. Frankly, they think that they are your bosses, and that you are low class help. There are a very few exceptions to the rule. Also, at times people move their bowels in the steam room, pool and Turkish bath in the poorly supervised spa and pool área in Oporto. Generally speaking, despite the pleasant facilities in both clubs, I think the clubs are undesirable and the contracts are really difficult to break. If you do join, be sure you join by the month. Beware of high pressure sales ploys as well. I think you could do better than Virgin Active!

To our surprise there was an aquarium in Porto! Located next to the water and across from a beach…read morewe Uber'd it over from our hotel. We bought our tickets upon arrival and found plenty of English friendly speakers here. The aquarium hosts local fish found in the waters around Porto and some interactive displays (hurricane wind simulator, touch reef, and stingrays) a giant tank with a sea turtle and some sharks is a cool way to relax and a giant gift shop and snack bar help wrapped up our visit. We love aquariums so this was just another place to see under the sea.

They had information next to the tanks written in Portuguese, Spanish, English, and German. They had interactive areas where you could touch a sea urchin. The staff throughout the experience were nice and always tried to give their best answer to my questions. It's a small, but fun and interesting place to visit. I went by myself and spent around 30min there. It's definitely worth the stop if you're near by and and love aquariums.

The garden can be accessed via the metro, cable car, or bridge. My husband and I did a bus tour of Porto, and our tour guide made a stop at this garden. The garden had beautiful greenery and peaceful walking paths. We felt most interested in viewing the Douro River. We had excellent views of the water. We were at the garden during the middle of the day, but I heard that sunsets here look stunning.
