It's June, which means my allergy season is in full effect right now. This was something I totally…read moreneglected to think about until it was already upon me, and I realized I only had a few weeks of Allegra-D left. After finding out the German name from a doctor friend, I decided to see an allergist. Need allergy medicine? See an allergist. Makes sense, right? Except that every English-speaking allergy doctor I came across was booked for months. That wouldn't do. Instead, I decided to see a regular practitioner. Of course, I encountered a similar problem. All the doctors were either booked for months, or on the other side of town. I, for one, would like to be able to walk a few blocks or take a short bike ride to see mine. Well thank goodness for aerzte-berlin.de - I was able to put in advanced criteria and when looking for English-speaking doctors in my neighborhood, came across one just a couple blocks away. I quickly called and was told to come in and wait. The reception area is super small and it took a while to be helped, although I don't think that was any fault of the people working. Once I registered, I waited in an adjoining room for maybe 5 or 10 minutes before I was seen. The wall is covered in (faded) reprints of Van Gogh and Monet paintings - a nice touch when compared with some of the awful art I've seen on office walls elsewhere. The seats were multi-coloured with shiny plastic shells - they reminded me of M&Ms... I can't say anything about Dr. Cotanidis, but as for Dr. Engert, he was great. I immediately told him that I heard he spoke English, and he switched right away - and speaks it well! He sat down with me, took the time to not only hear what I needed but also ask the appropriate follow-up questions, and then accompanied me to the front and waited until my prescription was given to me. All in all, the experience was about 30 minutes. I got what I came for and left with a good impression. Extra note: In addition to speaking English (and German), Turkish is also spoken here.

Dr. Cotanidis is very nice, fast and speaks English…read more It's worth noting that even the receptionist speaks a bit of English, and you can come in without an appointment during the practice hours. I needed to do a medical check up for health insurance, and I really needed to get the blood test results rushed. These wonderful ladies got them to me on Thursday morning, instead of Monday (which would be their normal lab processing time) after I explained my situation. Super grateful! Will be back. PS. Dr. Cotanidis is lovely, and she looks a bit like a young Tove Jansson. I grew up with the Mummins, and found this incredibly sweet and reassuring. :)

DO NOT GO HERE. DO NOT GO HERE. DO NOT GO HERE. The worst, rudest, most terrible practice I have…read moreever seen. Made an appointment this morning, and was told to come at 16:30, I arrive at said time and was then SCREAMED at for showing up at the time I was asked. The doctor laughed me away, and then his staff came out and yelled at me. This is no way to run a business. I am appalled, hurt, and now will not be able to revive a covid test. SHAME ON YOU. If I could leave 0 starts I would. It is completely unprofessional and inappropriate to not only laugh at, but scream at a patient. even if i had gotten the appointment time wrong (which I know I didn't because I was told it would be near closing time) , you come speak to my face, not from a side door 10 feet away, you speak to me politely, and you do not laugh and scream at me. So inappropriate. I am a hypochondriac as is, I have a lot of anxiety when it comes to doctors, and you have completely ruined this practice for me. I am so disappointed and upset.

I have been to this practice a few times and generally have had a okay experience, but yesterdays…read moreexperience was one of the worst doctors experiences I've had. The doctor was rude, extremely rushed and his attitude was that I should be honored to be even seen by him. I did have a couple of questions for the doctor, but he said he was too busy and to make an appointment for the following week. I believe my total visit was less than 4 minutes, so I do not believe I was taking up an excessive amount of time. As studied as you may be by your thorough collection of books you choose to display in the waiting area, it is unfortunate a book can not teach you empathy.

Bad experiences with two doctors in this practice:…read more 1. Dr. Jessen incorrectly called my bloodwork normal when the lab said I was anemic. I was symptomatic, treated it myself, and felt much better. 2. Dr. Mundt told me to gain weight and then come back when I came in a fourth time complaining of fatigue. I asked why she didn't work a differential diagnosis, and she responded by demanding photographic proof of Raynaud's, one of my symptoms. I have witnessed #1 before with multiple other women. For some reason, as common and painful/disruptive as anemia is, doctors seem to be bad at screening and treating for it. As offensive as it is when male doctors tell female patients they are hysterical--that the problem is in their heads, when the blood says they are sick--at least it is common and easy enough to solve the problem yourself. But I have never witnessed anything like #2 before. I've volunteered as an advocate in a lupus patients group after helping my mom get diagnosed and treated. To ask a patient for photographic proof of a self-reported symptom, instead of perhaps asking more questions about it... To basically just say, I don't believe you, prove it? That's mean, disrespectful, breaks trust, fails to show empathy, and generally does harm when it's possible to gather information to help instead. I was floored. I left the appointment, left the practice, and told them why I had left. They have not responded.
