There was a question with our alcohol drink order and instead of handling the situation with professionalism, we were scolded at our table by two of the servers. The course itself is beautiful and one of my favorite links style courses. I did not try the restaurant but it looks like it had a good amount of customers Which is a good indication. it could easily be 5 stars but..... The problem I had was with the ranger and pro shop staff.... paid $33 at 5:30 and it said 9 or 18 as it gets dark at 7:38 any ways. I played the front 9 in 90 min and was on the 3 rd hole of the back nine With mayme 2 holes left to play when the anger issues retired ranger came screaming that I paid for 9 holes. I was even through 12 holes and had the best round of the summer going and he would not let me play the last 2 holes. even after I explained that the website said 9 or 18 was the same price because of how late in the day it was. Needless to say they have lost another customer!! read more

There is something for everyone at PBGC We had lunch there yesterday. Mom had the pot roast sandwich and I had the burger. Both were hot and delicious. French fries as well. The menu is back! Expanded and the choices are new. The prices are reasonable and there are now casino video games to entertain the adults. We waited for our food over 2 hours. Several people walked out. Manager came out for complaints but never went around to say I'm sorry, we weren't prepared or nothing. Food was ok not great, and they brought out one dish at a time. My table mates were served a good 10 minutes before my food came out. Haley our server could not have been more apologetic. I never leave a comment but I have to laugh when they say it is kid friendly! My son is a new golf player and he kept getting pushed to go at a fast pace, even though we were not holding people up. So frustrated with staff that we terminated the game at 9th hole but paid for the whole game! Would not recommend if you are new to the game and will never go back! read more

We played here on Aug. 24 1with air temps at 101 and heat index reaching 116. With friends coming in from out of town we just had to give it a go and were the only group on the course in the afternoon. Well, almost the only group. The other groups were several staff members here tailing us the whole way with ice cold water and friendly chatter. That's one thing you get here always as the staff is outstanding, always welcoming, always friendly and that makes me want to come here and play this beautifully kept course. read more

I don't golf but went to the restaurant for their concert. There were no tables available outside so we ate inside. Clearly this restaurant was not well prepared for the number of people attending. Food came out to our table at different times. 2 at our table actually asked for the food that was brought back to the kitchen because that table left because of the wait. 3 hours...yes 3 hours later the one meal was delivered! I seems it would have been better to offer a preset menu with limited items and have the music outside playing inside the restaurant as well. Haley, our server was wonderful and very apologetic. We never saw the manager. It would have been nice for the manager to walk around and off apologies. I'll return for the music but not to eat during a concert. read more

The golf course is beautiful, the staff was friendly and informative. The facilities were clean and water coolers/soft drink machines and a rest room is available on the course. A paved cart path runs the entire length of the course making getting around easy. Its a links style course that I don't think is the best choice for beginners like me. It has a lot of natural prairie growth areas so If you can't hit the ball straight bring lots of balls because you will lose a ton of them. After hole 2 I switched to my "B-List" balls. Making an errant shot and recovering by playing it out of the trees or from one fairway over doesn't exist in many places here. On most holes the short cut of the rough is about 10-20 feet wide, then you're in the jungle baby. I wound up throwing my ball out of one of the deeper bunkers as I would still be there if I didn't. It was a lot of fun even though I stunk. read more

Course was very nice. Great example of a links style course. Its a true shame we were harassed by the rangers. We had no one behind us and we kept pace of place regardless. The course was empty but still the rangers insisted on following us hole to hole. We caused not a single problem and for at least 10 holes we had a ranger follow us. A ranger went even as far as parking in front of one of one of us while we were on the tee box about to drive. This made for an aggravating and unenjoyable experience. Im not sure I would return. Plenty of other courses around that wont harass you on the course. read more

This course has a 4 hour pace of play rule.. My foursome played this course and finished the front 9 in 2:05 mins and the ranger complained and said we needed to pick up the pace of play. There were no groups for at least a hole and a half behind us but the ranger kept bugging us throughout the back 9. We played 18 holes in 4:12 mins and that was with everyone in my foursome using the restroom and getting food at the turn. Yet the round was ruined by the ranger complaining about pace of play rules! I asked the ranger if he could play 18 holes in less than 4 hours and he said "No... but these are the course rules." You play golf to relax and enjoy yourself and when a ranger is following your group talking on a walkie talkie while you are standing over your ball ready to hit your next shot just ruins your golfing experience. Never going back to this course as customer service sucks. read more

The course is nice, and it was in really good shape, especially for mid-September. Had great weather, the food is good. That's all the good stuff. Now the bad. The rangers here are a real pain. I understand the need to keep things moving and having golfed for over 30 years, I know all about pace of play, and make sure I keep up. But our foursome are all high handicappers, (only one of us broke 100). So guess what? It takes us longer to play than a group of single digit guys. Plus, with the morning sun and dew, early on it was hard to see a ball in the rough that would normally be easy to spot. Repeatedly telling us to "catch up" is not going to make us play better or find our balls faster. Yes, the group ahead of us pulled away, but we never even SAW the group behind us, so we weren't slowing anyone down. Especially aggravating is waiting for the girl at the halfway house to take 5 minutes to get us 4 hot dogs, than being told to play faster because the guys in front of us were on the 10th green. Again, even at this point we didn't see anyone behind us, so what's the rush? This course needs to understand there's a difference between keeping up and slowing people down. In our case, we weren't doing either. We finished our round in 4:10. Also, we had more terrible service for our post round beer/apps. Never got asked if we wanted a 2nd beer, had to go to the bar to get a water refill, had to flag down the waitress/bartender to get our bill, then had to go to the bar to pay it after it became evident she was never coming back. This course could have a 4.5 star review if it wasn't for the people working there. As it is, I'll be hesitant to come back. My advice to management, why don't you station a ranger in the snack bar and bar area to make sure your staff "keeps pace"? You might consider limiting your course to only single digit handicappers as well if getting people through quickly is more important to you that ensuring EVERYONE enjoys their round. read more

I enjoyed playing at Prairie Bluff. Since I am not originally from the Midwest, sometimes I am shocked by how big the sky is. I spent a lot of time feeling that way on this course because it is flat in a very Illinois way. The prairie name is definitely appropriate and it makes the course pretty memorable. Pace of play was a little slow, but we showed up on Friday afternoon with no tee time, so I can't complain. I thought the beers were a little pricey, but my husband and I were really excited about the hot dogs, which had been under a heat lamp for a while. Maybe that sounds gross, but as a hungry person who generally hates sausage and cured meats, it really hit the spot. read more

I've never played the course even though I basically live next door. But I went to go hit balls today and thought it would be nice to grab a sandwich as well. I was hungry for anything so I asked the waitress for a recommendation. She said the BBQ brisket and pork is smoked in house. My jaw dropped. A golf course that smokes their own meat? Unheard of. This BBQ brisket sandwich came out on a pretzel roll and it was STACKED and not slathered in sauce. Absolutely wonderful. Cole slaw was also very tasty. $10 for that sandwich. Ok, couple weeks ago I gave a not too flattering review of food and service. I am happy to report that corrective action was taken in a very positive manner. A group of 8 visited on Thursday and another group of 12 on Friday after golfing in the evening. On Thursday, the food came out in less than 10 minutes and all served hot and excellent. On Friday, I hear the same and the chef made a special visit to ensure everyone was happy. I wanted to be sure everyone is aware of the power of feedback that may even help a restaurant. I was recently married at Prairie Bluff, and could not be happier with how everything went. We worked with Ryan throughout our whole planning process, and he was incredibly accommodating and courteous. After having met with several other venues that seemed to only care about their profit, it was refreshing that Ryan was so customer service oriented (but not surprising, since this venue is owned by the Lockport Park District). The food at this venue is absolutely delicious, and our guests had nothing but good things to say about their meals. The value for Prairie Bluff's different packages really can't be beat compared to other venues in the Chicagoland area (especially for open bar). Anytime we ran into anything that seemed to be missing, Ryan would immediately get it for us. The day of our wedding went incredibly smooth, and Ryan was there the whole time keeping things moving along efficiently. While this venue has held weddings in the past, it seems that they are trying to become more of a presence as a wedding venue (as opposed to just banquets), and I think they are well on their way. Our experience with Prairie Bluff really was excellent, but I will say that I would have liked for them to reach out and check-in with us more often about scheduling meetings, finalizing numbers, etc. They were always responsive when I reached out, but with all the stress of wedding planning it could have been nice to have prescheduled check-ins (bride brain is a real thing). I consider that to be a very minor issue in the grand scheme of things, and still feel they earned 5 stars. read more

We had my father's memorial at Prairie Bluff and were very happy with everything. Ryan was fantastic and made sure everything went smoothly the day of the event. We were even able to special order some German beers for the bar-- no problem at all. The room was lovely and the food was fantastic. I heard many people say "the pot roast was the best I ever had!". The course itself is well maintained and a challenge. Why 2 stars then? The "golfer assistants" aka, old retired men on power trips, half of who know nothing about golf etiquette. These people stalk you wherever you are on the course. They drive their carts by you during your back swing. They really pushed to pair us up with another twosome, which they did. The starter then allowed 3 twosome's to play behind us. Needless to say, the groups behind us kept hitting into us so we graciously let them all play through. The rangers kept following us, asking if we were OK. ? We finished the round in 4 hours and 20 minutes, all while letting 3 twosome's play through. read more

Kaitlin was a joy to work with for my bridal shower. She answered all our questions and was very accommodating. It was a beautiful shower all my guests had said! Kaitlin was very easy to get a hold of and responded back within a day or less. They provided a microphone since our shower was 60+ so everyone could hear me. She called me to confirm where I wanted all the game tables, mimosa bar and photo display would be. When I arrived in the morning of my shower to set up, not everything was where it was supposed to be, but the workers moved things to where they were supposed to be before everyone arrived. Overall, the food was good and I would recommend Prairie Bluff to other brides! read more

PERFECTION! I recently hosted a baby shower in the banquet facility. Ryan was amazing to work with. The room looked so beautiful, overlooking the golf course. The food was outstanding. The waitstaff and bartender were very attentive at all times. It could not have been any better. I received so many compliments on the shower/food/banquet facility. I would highly recommend to anyone using Prairie Bluff for a banquet. My husband and some of the 'fellas' hung out in the restaurant while we were at the shower and they said the food and staff were equally amazing in the restaurant location as well.
