Located just…read morepast the center of Capri, but not on the Main Street that has all the name brand designer shops, Il Caprito 16 is a gem hidden in plain sight! While my friends all went to check out the big names stores, I wandered on my own preferring boutiques that feature local products and craftsmanship, and clothing that is unique. I found it here! The beautiful scarves outside caught my attention and as I walked down the steps into the shop, I was smiling looking at all of the beautiful shirts, dresses, skirts, slacks and shawls. The fabrics are all natural - linen, cotton, cashmere - and the only kind I wear. Natural fabrics are breathable, soft and don't irritate my skin. And in the hot weather, they allow my skin to breath. The fabrics here are all high quality. Within minutes, I found several lovely pieces that I couldn't resist. And some accessories. Ironically, all the items that I bought were shades of blue like the sky and waters surrounding Capri! Shades of blue also happen to be my best colors so this store definitely spoke to me. I purchased a light blue linen shirt that fit perfectly and I wore it the next day! Also bought a linen, striped poncho, the thin stripes were in two shades of chambray. Perfect for summer evenings to ward off the chill or dress up a simple outfit. I'd never seen a linen poncho so it took me only a second to make the purchase decision! For the cooler weather, bought a medium blue cashmere poncho and got so much use out of it on the trip and ever since I got back home. The boutique is small but has a lot of inventory. Even some accessories. I purchased a long linen scarf in swirlies of cream, gray and light blue. I wear it constantly in every season. It goes with so many things I wear. It folds up to nothing so it is great to pack or keep in my handbag. The woman who owns the shop was so friendly and helpful. With every item I tried on, she gave me her honest opinion of how it fit, worked with my complexion, etc. basically the 4 items that caught my attention immediately were the ones I bought. For men there are great linen shirts that fit well and also reflect the island colors and temperatures. Next time I'm on the island of Capri, Il Caprito 16 will be my first destination. Until then, I follow them on Instagram and enjoy seeing all the beautiful clothes and accessories.

If you are a fan of Gucci and you are on Capri, you need to visit their boutique. They offer so…read moremany styles not found at other locations and unlike the vast majority of high-end designer stores, the prices are significantly lower. And since you can get the tax back at the airport, the overall price is dramatically lower making it difficult to pass on buying a Gucci handbag, belt, wallet, tote or whatever! The shop was quite large and they had a very good selection of crossbody bags, satchels, wallets, totes, shoes, sunglasses, belts and clothing even though it was the last week of the season and the shops close on October 31st. Now truth be told, I'm not a huge Gucci fan; there are other designers I prefer. I do own 2 bags - a solid black tote and black studded crossbody bag with a tassel - and 2 pairs of Gucci sunglasses but I wasn't in the market for another Gucci. There was a slate blue satchel with a bamboo handle that I loved, but of course it was one of the most expensive bags they had. The typical champagne taste on a beer income that always seems to be the case. I enjoyed checking it out but did a catch and release. No regrets. This was not the case with my girlfriends and their daughters! As soon as we arrived on the island they went straight to Gucci without even pausing to take in the beautiful views or check out any of the magnificent shops along the way! They were on a mission. And hour and a half later, while I was exploring the gardens, other boutiques, high end hotels and restaurants, they were still in Gucci. When I came back and saw all the Gucci shopping bags lined up and filled with purchases, I had to laugh! It was quite a site and a very good sales day for this Gucci location! The Kardashian influence was definitely in full swing with the young ladies in our group. They had to have a Gucci belt, which they wore out of the store, and a Gucci bag. Within minutes they were snapping selfies and pics of one another with Capri as the backdrop. They added Megan Traynor's new song, "I could have my Gucci on" to the GIF and posted on Instagram immediately. Welcome to today's world!

I always make it a point to get some new pieces when I visit beautiful Capri. I still own some linen shirts I bought 10 years ago and I often get stopped on the streets of Manhattan by people who ask: where did you get that? 5+ stars all-around!
