So when I spotted a Chanel boutique while in Capri, I didn't hesitate to walk in with the hope of finding some unique styles not available in the States. The boutique is small and surprisingly didn't have much inventory. Could be due to the time of year, the last week of high season, but I was still disappointed. While my other girlfriends and their daughters had made a beeline to Gucci and basically held camp there for over an hour checking out bag after bag, my visit to Chanel lasted under 10 minutes. When I got back to my hotel I did some research and Chanel, like many of the shops, both high end and regular, are only open for the season which runs from April through October 31st. Which does explain the limited selection this time of year. Still a fan of Chanel, that will never change! Just didn't leave Capri with a Chanel bag which meant I had more money for other treasures.

The clerk in the store suggested that it might be cheaper to get it there. Since O-Bags are made in Italy, they can charge less for them. That's the point of the designer stores in Capri. I got home and she was right. She was super sweet and super on top of things. They had a really good selection of purses in all shapes, sizes and colors. The amazing thing about these bags are that you pick a body style and color, you pick and handle style and color and then you pick a lining color or pattern. The bodies are made of some super durable soft rubbery stuff that will probably survive the apocalypse. They are super fashionable. I saw plenty of them in Italy. I ended up ordering one online and paying more for it. I wish I'd gotten it at the store.

If you are a fan of Gucci and you are on Capri, you need to visit their boutique. And since you can get the tax back at the airport, the overall price is dramatically lower making it difficult to pass on buying a Gucci handbag, belt, wallet, tote or whatever! The shop was quite large and they had a very good selection of crossbody bags, satchels, wallets, totes, shoes, sunglasses, belts and clothing even though it was the last week of the season and the shops close on October 31st. Now truth be told, I'm not a huge Gucci fan; there are other designers I prefer. I do own 2 bags - a solid black tote and black studded crossbody bag with a tassel - and 2 pairs of Gucci sunglasses but I wasn't in the market for another Gucci. There was a slate blue satchel with a bamboo handle that I loved, but of course it was one of the most expensive bags they had. The typical champagne taste on a beer income that always seems to be the case. I enjoyed checking it out but did a catch and release. No regrets. This was not the case with my girlfriends and their daughters! As soon as we arrived on the island they went straight to Gucci without even pausing to take in the beautiful views or check out any of the magnificent shops along the way! They were on a mission. And hour and a half later, while I was exploring the gardens, other boutiques, high end hotels and restaurants, they were still in Gucci. When I came back and saw all the Gucci shopping bags lined up and filled with purchases, I had to laugh! It was quite a site and a very good sales day for this Gucci location! The Kardashian influence was definitely in full swing with the young ladies in our group. They had to have a Gucci belt, which they wore out of the store, and a Gucci bag. Within minutes they were snapping selfies and pics of one another with Capri as the backdrop. They added Megan Traynor's new song, "I could have my Gucci on" to the GIF and posted on Instagram immediately. Welcome to today's world!

Actually comparing this cute little shop to James perse is a bit of an insult as this place is wayyyyyy better ! Why ?! All of the items are made not just in Italy but ON SITE by members of the family ! I know because they gave me a tour of the facility . This place is the epitome of Italian artisanal charm . I love the way they arranged the clothes. Linen clothes draped from winding stair cases , trees , bushes lol tutto ...Everywhere .. there were so many beautiful pieces !!! I wanted to buy the whole store ! But prices were steep . Still I managed to walk away with a cute green handwoven sweater that set me back $100 euro ( that's a whopping 113 dollars ) This place definitely has James perse , Bloomingdales or Barney's prices that's for sure ...but it's worth it . Their garments are of good quality and well made and you definitely pay a hefty price, but considering the garbage you buy for the same amount in the US..it's worth it. My only gripe about a couple of the shops is that the sales people were so aggressive! I don't know if they work on commission, but I was told a certain size was not available at any other store but when I went to one of the other stores, I had no problem finding my size. They also didn't offer to contact the other shops to see. So, my advice is to shop all four and don't succumb to the sales pressure.
