Title: Urgent Safety Issue Ignored by PPL I reported a serious electrical safety hazard to PPL last night at 9:09 p.m. -- a broken grounding and support cable from the main line to my home. The line is now sagging lower each hour, and I fear it may completely fail soon. Despite explaining that this is a life-safety issue -- not just a power outage -- PPL told me I am "not a priority" because I'm the only home affected in my area. Meanwhile, I've had to shut off power after seeing smoke from outlets caused by power surges. I can't even let my dogs outside for fear the line could come down. On top of that, we're losing all of our food, which we just received from the food bank, and I'm currently out of work due to the federal shutdown. This situation is unacceptable. A single home should still matter when there's an obvious electrical hazard and fire risk. I'm asking PPL to take this seriously and dispatch a crew immediately before someone gets hurt. read more

Worst customer service ever! Called on July 16, 2026; asking how to get Bill in my name; my partner, (boyfriend) passed away in May, the man I talked with at PPL kept calling me an occupant. Cant even keep the power on during a rain storm. They dont adequately prepare for storms in the forecast. It takes them way to long to rebound after a power outage and then they just offer to pay for a minimum amount of ice bags and water like they are doing you a favor when they should be paying for all the wasted food in your fridge. read more

Genuine A**holes , I Legit have a medical certificate due to my girlfriend being pregnant and experiencing terrible symptoms from it. They shut off our electricity today and for approximately 4 hours i had absolutely no help from these people after calling various times and speaking to multiple different people also a supervisor and no one was helpful enough besides 1 nice lady who genuinely was concerned shoutout to her. these people are horrible this company honestly should be abolished immediately and rebuilt. Their fax number apparently "Works" but our doctor has tried multiple times to send the medical certificate through fax and nothing works. Value isn't even good either how am i possibly paying almost $300 a month for a studio apartment that barley has any electronics, besides a computer 2 phones and a AC that's turned on only at night? Rates keep going up, with all the solar and wind and people selling back electric and renewable energy sources the greed is ridiculous. There's no reason to raise rates again. Dont get PPL, wish I could give 0 stars. I have been trying to stop my service for hours now, and the phone number to call has been extremely unhelpful. I have been unable to sign in to my account with both my connected phone number, and my connected email address. When I called, they confirmed that my phone number and email were connected to the account, but as I said, I was not able to sign in using either. Speaking to a representative was also much harder than it needed to be. I had to ask to speak to a human multiple times during multiple different phone calls, and by the time I was able to get to the point where i could speak to an employee, the pffice had closed, so I guess I will be trying again tomorrow. I cannot emphasize enough how bad this company is. their business is shady, and I have never heard positive things about them. I hope someone from PPL is reading this and knows that PPL is a garbage company and that they should be ashamed of their business practices. read more

We have been under PPL for just over 3 months. We had a normal bill as anyone would for the first 2 months and then due to their own "technical error" our bill shot up over $300. Trying to contact them is a NIGHTMARE. Waiting on the phone for 1 hour and 15 minutes just to be told there is nothing then can do and to call back the next day and talk to their "Energy Education" team. Definitely will be looking for a new energy source. Their "occasional" low cost rates are NOT worth it. read more

24 years ago we had a occasional outage in a bad storm for a few hours. It steadily got worse over time to outages of 5 or more days. Now we get daily outages and power blips on top of storms. It is worse than a 3rd world country. read more

On top of the FACT that our service is routinely interrupted due to KNOWN dead trees that not taken down along our power path and fall with every little breeze, when there is a major weather event we can see areas of lesser numbers of affected customers get faster return service. Why? Because those areas are more affluent neighborhoods, and our rural communities with hundreds if not thousands (not tens) are left with "we're working to establish a timeline". I have been a ppl customer all of my adult life, i understand that prices go up but from 75 dollars per month to over 566 dollars a month over the passed 15 years, is ridicules. My power usage is the same my habits haven't changed yet every month according to ppl my usage goes up. As a township supervisor i was told when the roseland line was installed our power prices would go down, what a lie, all that line did was create more out of state customers and we local folks pay the bill. Today, 5/15/2025, I experienced the worst Customer Service in my life. The Gentleman spoke very little English, clearly did not understand me. Asked me to repeat my Routing number and Acct. number around 10X's. Was rude and unprofessional. When I asked to speak to his Supervisor, he said I would have to call back and make an appointment to speak to a Supervisor. I've had PPL all my life. I'm 63yrs old. Horrible customer service. Every time you call they have you on hold at least 30 minutes before they answer. 3 times I had to hang up because after a 40 minute wait was still on hold. PPL, how about learning about real customer service and part with some of your big profits and hire reputable and extra personnel to help customers. They scammed a ton of people by billing them an astronomical amount. My husband and I were given a credit for overpaying, then magically, 3 months later got charged for all 3 months they previously told us we owed nothing. If I could give this company a negative review I would. PPL is the WORST electric company in PA. If I could have taken Met Ed with me when I left Lebanon, I would have because I had NEVER had a single problem with them. Every time I make a payment online, they return it (DESPITE) the fact that the funds are in the account and then lock me out of making payments online. So now AGAIN I have to drive to find a place to pay my electric bill each month. Great thing to point out...they keep saying my bank account is inactive or closed when they withdraw their money, despite the fact that they are more than happy to take it from my DEBIT card with little to no issue. And their employees are terrible in terms of customer service. They can't manually do anything for a customer, and when they transfer you the call is dropped and of course you are put back on hold until you can freaking get someone again. Company has way too many complaints. In addition has abnormal high and low voltage with frequent erratic power interruptions . Power goes on & off several times in a row. Customer service gives inconsistent explanations including their "Reliability Department." PUC says in recent Newspapers print PPL has many " substandard" issues since 2020 but does not indicate they have issued any violations . Maybe the PUC isn't doing enough . It is their job to regulate PPL and enforce regulations. Instead the PUC recommended " 16 improvements" for the longtime substadard issues. read more

Following a move to Pennsylvania (Poconos), I opened an account with PPL. Since I was a new customer I was told I would have to pay a security deposit of $444, but after one year of paying bills on time that money would be used toward future bills. Well it has been 14 months, with an excellent payment record and I keep getting billed. I've tried calling three times to remedy this and each time I have waited over 30 minutes on hold with no one answering. One other time a rep picked up in record time, but transferred me to Billing, where again I waited 30 minutes with no one answering. The only way to contact this company is by phone (really - 30 minutes waiting and no one picking up), or by letter. In this day and age no contact via email. Probably because there would be a record of how many people tried to reach them and how many times each person tried. I can't believe a public utility can be so inattentive and indifferent. My next move will be lodging a complaint with the BBB and the governor's office. read more

Reading the prior reviews of this organization is mind-numbing, because they're not only just awful and likely shared by most of PPL's customers, but also because they clearly haven't cleaned up their act despite the rancor from their customers. This is the last place I should be reviewing a power service, but the utilities sector has completely hijacked the pandemic and has decided that its vulnerable customers, many who have been to struggle financially due to lockdowns, should take it up the keister. I've been a customer for over 15 years, and these previous reviews are all spot-on: terrible customer service, shocking bills, and frequent outages that, at least in my PA town, are never less than 8 hours, sometimes days. Their programs to help are insulting, inefficient, and you probably won't qualify in the first place. PPL's a monopoly, despite throwing a bone to smaller companies who are forced to use their equipment. I genuinely don't understand how a company who seems to thrive on incompetencey has been in business this long. For months now my account is considered a contractor instead of a Tennant this means I can't pay my bill. Now if this was a company with an above room temp IQ this wouldn't be a problem, however this is ppl we're dealing with so of course there's a problem. Apperantly their "customer service" is unable to fix my account or direct me to someone who can figure it out. Also their customer service is only available Monday through Friday during business hours. You're a power company you can't afford at minimum a weekend call center? Very frustrating start up with PPL. I recently moved from Maryland where I was a customer in good standing with Delmarva Power. PPL asked for a copy of my license??? and that Delmarva send in a letter of good standing. I faxed my ID in to the fax number they requested and followed up with Delmarva to ensure hey forwarded my credit info. Delmarva sent it twice. I moved into my apartment on the 24th of the previous month when electric should have turned on. The Friday before I moved in I called PPL and was told they had received neither but that the power was scheduled for turn on on the 24th. Surprise, surprise they did not turn on my power or notify me until the 2nd. Now, I cannot set up automatic payments until the ridiculous deposit is paid in the first three months. Not sure what happened to PP&L. They used to actually care about there customers. It took me three days to get through to someone bc I can't just sit around on the phone during work hours. I pay more then my actual electric bill through On-Track which used to be a service that actually helped with the cost of my bill and now I pay even more. Plus I have to drive all around the Lehigh Valley to make a payment sometimes bc the places that supposedly accept payments sometimes are closed or the employees can't access the system the payments are processed through. PP&L is evil and corrupt. They take advantage of people who are already struggling. Yet there CEO makes millions of dollars a year as his salary. They can overcharge customers, make it difficult to pay your bill, customer service is absolutely horrible, and the On-Track program is a joke compared to what it used to be. So the great electricity monopoly PPL is now in the process of hosing users down by "upgrading" everyone's meter to a new "smart" meter barely a decade after the last "upgrade". Of course the BS cover for this is that somehow we the consumer will benefit by now being able to make wise energy decisions that I guess somehow we couldn't make before even though the bill will look the same, the website looks the same and people really have no more or better information than they did prior. Maybe it'll hit the site a little bit faster but it's still the same as before. I believe the industry term for this is called gold plating. It's where over time people consume less electricity via higher efficiency appliances/light bulbs/etc. so one great way for utilities to make a buck and be a pain in the ass is to force these "upgrades" on you then spread the cost from now until 2030 guaranteeing a nice little revenue stream for the utility until wait let me guess... In 2030, it'll be time for the next upgrade!!! It's the party that never ends. It's like a car dealership's wet dream with sheeple consumers. One lease to the next lease to the next lease with perpetual payments into perpetuity. The difference of course is with that example you actually have a choice where/what you buy versus here where's it's forced on you. Oh, and of course don't buy into the PPL bullshit about informing you weeks prior to installation because they won't. Just like it was awesome to get a robo call from a restricted number after six p.m. on Wednesday that their third party vendor would be coming soon to due the installation in my area when in fact the installation had already been done on Monday early in the morning unannounced until the power went off suddenly. wirh how much money this company makes with monthly bills alone, their service is horrible. the online payments take way to long to be taken from a bank account, on top of that, if you have 2 returned payments they lock your account online so you can no longer even make a payment online with a debit card or bank account. Making it even more difficult to get caught back up with your payments in a tough time. They force you to take time out of your own work day to go get a money order or certified check. This then affects your income even more due to having to leave work to make the payments happen so your electric does not get shut off. This company does not care to consider anyone's situation, but only cares about income. This is such a fraudulent company. the customer service on the phone does not care to even help give other options, I was even hung up today by a employee named Crystal, I said I would like to make a payment and she did not say a work and hung up the phone after I was already on hold for 30minutes. Not sure how someone can be forced to try and make a cash payment in person when they don't even have their own office you can go and physically pay at. Not sure how that is even legal. read more

A tree fell over onto the high tension line on our property, not causing an outage, but still a dangerous situation. I called customer support by phone and within a few hours, a service tech, Justin, came out and cut the tree into pieces that I could move with my backhoe. Very courteous and professional. We leave in a heavily wooded area with thousand of ash trees dying due to the emerald ash borer, and falling trees pose a constant threat to service. I'm pleased with the prompt response to this issue, and in general I'm pleased with PPL compared to the alternatives. read more

These guys suck soooo bad. They booted the meter then when I called 4 times, not one of them fixed the issue. They just keep telling me the power is working and when I tell them the meter is locked they say someone will check but no one does. I will be cutting the lock off.
