You'll hear the bible explained, usually verse by verse, and the gospel of Jesus Christ made central while personal application flows from the text. The worship through music/singing is contemporary and is consistently done with excellence in an acoustic format. The kids 3 yrs and up join the congregation in singing and go back to have their bible lesson when the preaching begins. Leadership here is authentic and this flows down throughout the rest of the church.

***THIRD AND FINAL UPDATE***…read more Today is October 14th and still no outreach from our church regarding the issues I have listed. We received a second survey several weeks ago about our thoughts on meeting in person (which just started two weeks ago at the Katy campus). We answered the questions in a similar fashion to the first survey from May including expressing disappointment in how the church has treated us during this time. I guess if you don't serve on the "Dream Team" or give a certain amount of money no one will help you when you go through a tough time. We as a family have made the decision to not attend services here any longer.

Pastor Jeremy and his wife Jennifer, along with all of the other pastors, are just amazing. They're inspiring, motivating, funny, entertaining and all while teaching us the word and showing how it relates to us in today's world and in our society. If you're looking for a new church home, look no further, this is it! My dear friend Joe Graham invited me, and I am forever grateful that he did. You can go to YouTube and search Hope City and preview many of the sermons and series they cover. I love this feature in case I'm traveling and can't make live service.

June 23, 2026 I will…read morenot tolerate harmful or inappropriate behavior in my personal life especially from grown adults, Jesus flipped tables for abusing the church & I'd rather spend my time with people who honestly fail me rather than people who dishonestly fail and deny what they have done. from March, 2026 "I don't see any fruit nor could entrust myself to people in the 30's and 40's group to continue growing in Christ with the history of the groups brokenness, lack of shepherding, humility, double standards, double binding behaviors, pride/arrogance, unrequited nature among the leadership and unrequited relationships people have inside 30/40's group not getting to know people one on one who enter the group... Does the leather on the Bible carry more weight than the skin of hands? I say this because for a long time I've been a weary Christian traveler trusting that God is present even when I can't see (Luke24:13-35) and also how Jesus discerned who he could entrust himself too (John2:23-25; Matt 7:15-20)." Tim Keller Wrote "In the dominant cultural narrative--reflected in the reasoning of the doctor--"words like 'suffering' are unredeemably negative" because "it is important to avoid pain at all costs" since 'our lives are [valued] by nothing more significant than our desires.'" According to Jesus, it is what we do in secret that matters most. "Godliness must be found in the heart if it is to be genuine. The one who prays more in public than in private, or only gives at special events when likely to be thanked for it, or practices spiritual disciplines and lets everyone know just how difficult a spiritual routine he keeps, is more concerned about the outward appearance than a heart-relationship with Jesus." --Derek Thomas, Tabletalk Magazine June 15, 2026 semi update: I was able to speak directly with church leadership, share my experience, and was heard. They expressed genuine apologies for what happened in the group and communicated they are actively working to make changes to the group's leadership. I don't believe this reflected their intentions for the church leadership but bad apples. Raising to 3 stars to reflect that accountability, while noting the process to get here required significant effort on my part and there's room for growth, restoration, and growing the trust back. I can sense what seems to be authenticity in the leadership of the church and this could a branch needed to be pruned. As things grow and change with evidence so will my particular rating. Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a desire fulfilled is a tree of life. (Proverbs 13:12, ESV 2 June 2026 Updated to the reply below: I had a difficult experience at this church. A person in the 30s/40s small group made inappropriate jokes sitting next to me during the small group and there were widespread rumors of pursuing people inappropriately and I can only share my experience. When I raised concerns what I saw a system protecting itself and protecting dysfunction. I genuinely hope this changes and that people are being led toward Jesus rather than being manipulated. Just totally inauthentic and self absorbed. A good pruning of the Rose bush is necessary at this church to make room for new healthy buds. "A function of cutting away to reduce the extent or reach of something by taking away unwanted or superfluous parts." But in good conscience I can't recommend this church without sharing what I experienced. Update in response to the reply below. The statement that the invitation "remains open" seems contradictory because I responded to the original invitation, communicated my boundaries, and made myself available. I do not want to be in the same room as the people who demonstrated a lack of integrity in their personal conduct. If it was so important to have restoration we would have started by acting like grown adult Christians, communicating honestly (Ephesians 4:25). Scripture teaches that healthy communication and conflict resolution require honesty, humility, and genuine follow through & not silence.

Current hosted their annual "Journey to Bethlehem" last weekend, and my family was excited to go…read more Being a homeschooling parent, we really wanted to go beyond the Christmas lights and help our oldest son really experience the wonder of the first Christmas. As we were looking around, Current's Journey to Bethlehem's website popped up. Their website was modern, minimalistic, sleek, and informative. We were definitely swayed just by browsing around, and the FAQ's were complete. They had a general admission ticket that was good for any of the times, or a special express pass that would minimize the wait by up to half-hour. However, the express pass did not guarantee no wait, so we ended up getting the general admission ticket and planned to get there at least a half an hour early to catch the first guided tour. Turns out that was a good plan. We got there at 4:30PM and we were able to be part of the first group - the "Abraham" family and started a few minutes after 5PM. You can really tell that they've been doing this for 14 years in the Katy community. From the parking, the acting, to the presentation of the Gospel, everything here was top notch. I especially enjoyed visiting the village of Nazareth, and being ushered in to the biblical era. We met a blacksmith who was hammering "metal," children who were putting together beaded necklaces to earn their living, and woman who taught us to write "Shalom" in Hebrew. It was quite impressive that the adults and the kids alike never really broke from acting. Everything seemed absolutely real. The realism continued as we went outside, and we approached a Roman soldiers encampment who demanded our group to "hold out our papers." It was so real that my 5 year-old son held up his papers the entire time! (Just a note: some other kids my sons' age 's slightly younger got a bit scared, others were perfectly fine. Just be prepared to talk and explain to your child). The glorious appearance of the angels were well done and choreographed. I appreciate that the guides worked hard to tell a story - to express their hope for Israel's redemption, their joy as they saw angels announcing the Messiah, the disdain of the Roman officials for the Jews who anticipated the Messiah being born in Bethlehem. The last stop is Calvary, in which they explain the significance of Christ's birth and its place in the bigger Gospel story. They also give an invitation to attend the Christmas Eve/Day services, for those who want to learn more about Jesus. At the end, they give you a free cookie (snack). The presentation is highly realistic and well done. The church members did a great job in communicating the realism of the Roman oppression, the messianic hopes of Israel, and what it would have been like to witness the angels announcing Messiah's birth. Highly recommended! Just make sure you take a beanie -it's cold!
