I had not gone to church much in college. In fact, after some bad times with my old pastor, I had given up on it. On New Years Eve 2004, I went to Faith Church International in New Orleans, LA with a friend. There I was so moved by the message I had decided to give the church another chance. When the pastor heard I was moving to Houston, he recommended "Dr. Ed Montgomery, [was] a faith-based church with a strong bible-based ministry".
Although I was not perfect, I became focused on God. Every Sunday at ALC was not only exciting, it was educational; it not only gave me knowledge but was spiritual. When I arrived to Houston, all I knew was my fraternity life and that I had a brand new job these kids were dying to have. Little did I know, God had a blessing more abundant than I could imagine.
A luxury car and a downtown condo later, many people said this was it -- that this was the pinnacle of my life. But as I learned at ALC, my best days were ahead of me. There's something about the spirit of this church -- even when I was tired, I never stopped dreaming. Even if everyone around me told me I couldn't, I still tried. With the continued blessings and life guidance I received from Dr. Ed and Saundra Montgomery, I soon found myself accepted to the #1 Master's program for technology in the country.
"Oh but baby we're just getting warmed up." (in my Dr. Ed voice). Whether I needed support in my financial life, in my relationship, in my family, in my understanding of those who called me friend, or in my work-life -- it didn't matter! Dr. Ed speaks to your needs directly and gave me the energy to persist and steer clear to what God has in store for me.
Today, after 5 year's with ALC, I have obtained my dream job. I now work as a technology architect @ Apple's HQ in California. And when I look back I know, I couldn't have done it without the help of Dr. Ed and the wonderful people at ALC. Thank you ALC for shaping the future leaders of tomorrow. read more
