The security team in the lobby was always helpful and polite, and there is bike parking in the basement. For the actual course I took: I decided to attend the Intro to Programming Course (evening/part time) at Epicodus once I knew I was moving to Portland from NYC. It was a great chance to meet new people, learn some new skills, and see if I might be interested in changing careers. The Intro to Programming Course was perfect for me because it allowed me to get a taste of programming without having to commit to a full-time program and was flexible around a work schedule. The price point was also perfect for me. Our instructor Kyle was great - he was happy to be as hands-on or as laid back as each programming pair needed. I loved pair-programming - there are so many online resources that you could technically teach yourself most of the programming stuff you'd need to know... but if you're an interactive learner like me that benefits from mutual accountability.... SIGN UP FOR EPICODUS. You'll learn so much from your partners, both about programming and how to think about problem solving. This course was totally worth it!

I would have liked to have those more frequently. The constant support from career services was helpful. And I am glad that support continues post graduation.

However, the perfect opportunity came to me with The Tech Academy, and I put everything I had into it. I really can't say enough great things about the experience. Great instruction. I learned a lot about a lot of different technologies. I had my ups and downs throughout the six months of the full-time program, but I ultimately walked away having learned and experienced more than I thought I would. I'd recommend this program to anyone who has even the slightest interest in it or passion for technology. You will have to invest a lot of time into it, but if you really want to do well, you will have all the tools, support, and instruction you need--and then some. One of the best educational experiences I've ever had.

Live projects were awesome and you get a feel for what the actual job will be like. I am not currently employed in tech, but will be using these skills to move up in my current company. Well worth it.

So far so great! So here I am scared to death because my son is entering his first year in high…read moreschool. Now I have to be honest with the racial tension, COVID-19 and life in general, from day to day you don't always know what to expect. It started last Friday when I made a call to Benson to clarify if my sons school schedule was available. The first voice I encountered was "Norma". This lady was so warm and friendly it scared me. She went on to explain to me in the most professional and warmhearted tone what I needed to do and who I needed to speak with. So as she transfers me, in my head I'm thinking breathe, because there is no way the second staff person I speak with is going to be even half as friendly, informative and professional as "Norma" and guess what, she wasn't, because it was her voicemail. So on Monday, after taking into consideration that I probably was the 100th caller Friday, I reached out to who Norma suggested. An low and behold, I hear the voice of yet another professional, friendly, kind and "how can I help you" voice on the other end of the phone. "Roi San" scheduled a time for us to meet and get everything straightened out. Tuesday my son and I go to the Benson campus @ Marshall and meet these two ladies in person. Same professional, kind, professionals I spoke to prior. Now this may not be a big deal to you, but its HUGE to me. This is a new school, new year, and a new phase of both our lives. There is so much going on in the world and it can literally make you paranoid about everything. It is very comforting and reassuring to know that your child is around people that show a genuine concern for their well being. First impressions are the best impressions and these two have made me a believer out of me. Now things may not always go as smooth, however its good to know that through all the hustle and bustle, Benson has a solid group of staff. I believe these two represent the staff in general and I applaud you all and sincerely thank you all for your dedication. Hats off to Roi San and Norma and I'm sure we'll see each other during the year. I hope and pray for a great school year for all and looking forward to a phenomenal four years for my child.
