Pros: - The people are very nice - The church is frequently renovated. - Hard to get a bad seat where you can't see or hear. Cons: - Coming on a holiday? Get here early, this place is packed with people showing up for Christmas and Easter mass. - The parking lot is small for packed masses, but most of the time it's adequate. It's a nice church, very traditional. Definitely check it out if you're looking for a welcoming nice place to be for mass on the holidays.

The 3rd, and current Church, was completed in the 1860's. Located on Lodge St, in a congested area, there is limited street parking. However, parking is available on weekends directly across the street in the judicial parking lot. SMC has been on my bucket list ever since a friend, Tiny Tim, mentioned his family are parishioners. On a recent visit, I was thoroughly impressed w pretty much everything... the architecture, stained glass windows, original pipe organ, statues, layout, etc, etc. The footprint is huge. You could probably fit my local Church, also St Mary's, four + times in the Albany structure. The Cantor has a professional-grade voice. The lector, Bernadette, has been doing the readings at the 10:30 Sunday Mass for over 15 years. And she drives from Cobleskill each week, a 45 minute trip (each way) in good weather. The ceiling, which looks painted, is actually a woven tapestry! I sat upstairs in the balcony. Note that the "kneelers" up there have no cushioning, just solid wood like the old days. All-in-all, a building that inspires worship and self reflection. I can see why Bernadette makes the trip each week.

This is a great conservative congregation…read more When my family arrived in the area, we weren't sure if we would be more comfortable joining a reform or conservative congregation. Back in Berkeley we were at a reform temple that used mostly Hebrew during worship, and was led by an old school Hungarian rabbi. The clergy at Ohav are fantastic. Loved Rabbi Dan. Love that the congregation shows off its egalitarian stripes with Rabbi Rena on the bima. Services were always kid friendly, from little toddlers all the way through fidgety grade schoolers. And we found it to be a warm and welcoming community. In the end, we decided our family was ultimately more comfortable being on the more religious side in a reform congregation, than the slackers in a conservative one. But this place still holds a warm spot in our heart, and it's an active and thriving part of the local Jewish community.

Mount Greylock Baptist Church is a great place to worship with your family. The leadership does an…read moreamazing job of engaging people of all ages. There are age appropriate Sunday school classes, from pre-school age through adults, with service immediately following. During Sunday morning service there is also a Jr. Church going on for children. Sunday evening service and a Wednesday evening prayer meetings also take place each week. Our daughter recently became part of the youth group and has been having a great time. The youth group leaders teach a Sunday school class before service on Sunday mornings and organize many fun activities for the teens. Recently, there was a day trip to The Great Escape that our daughter said was lots of fun. Over the past few months they worked the concession stand at a Steeple Cats game, and had a picnic for the teens and their families. Both co-pastors and their families have been a great support system for my family and others when it has been needed. There is a good balance of preaching the word of God while still being relatable to church members and visitors.
