The Cadbury's store is great if you're looking for bags of mini chocolates. My best friend loves strawberry creams and they sometimes have entire bags of just them. At Christmas they have some great items too, but not very heavily discounted. Nice place to walk around and a great shopping centre for wedding outfits etc.

The stuff is not laid out well to enable you to browse easily. In the Swindon store, there is a small cafe where you can grab a cake and a cup of coffee when you have shopped to drop! There are not many other places nearby, it is a bit out on a limb.

On one occasion I thought, "I'll have a peek at the other shop and see what they have... or... I could just go straight to the yarn." So I went straight to the yarn! While the shop is small and makes for very cozy shopping when there are lots of customers (and I never see the place dead), they manage to pack a lot of items into the shop. I would almost say that they have more selection of colors and style of yarn than my local Hobbycraft! At the back is the yarn, careful if the door is shut as some customers/staff come through the back door as you are browsing. There are knitting needles, crochet hooks, and other various items hanging on the back wall/door as well. Some of the skeins are in cubbies, some are in baskets on the floor, and there is another shelf with bags of yarn. I thought at first I needed to ask to get into the bags, however, the staff are usually quite busy, so help yourself. In the area next to the yarn is fabric and in the center of the store is a table to measure and cut fabric. The front of the store seems to be more for buttons, needles, ribbons, and other sewing supplies. They do take credit cards if you are building your yarn stash, but there are cash machines nearby if you are just buying small items. Some of the staff are very friendly, others not so much, but they are helpful and efficient, which I think is more important. Although when one of the men that work at the store bagged up my yarn, he very kindly said, "If the colours are not correct, please come back and we will help." I like that as sometimes the dye lots are not the same or you are buying from memory. I haven't yet asked if they can special order yarn, but with the amount of business they do, I get the feeling that they may be able to help.

The funny thing about location of this store is that I have been in the car park or the area a number of times and it was only on the most recent time that I noticed it. The store is quite small... and by quite small, I mean I left one of my bags in the center of the store to get between one of the freezers and the shelf to get a closer look at some of the items. There is a small section of toiletries, lots of snack items, cooking ingredients (large variety of seasoning packets), sweets, baking ingredients, frozen goods, some baked goods, and drinks. I didn't find everything I had hoped for, but I found enough to fill my grocery bag :). I did ask about a couple of items, like Polvoron and other baked goods and they did say that they do carry them, but they sell out very quickly. I believe they also offer phone cards, information about travel agents specializing in travel to the Philippines, and carry the "Hello Philippines" newspaper for expats. The prices are inexpensive which is probably going to be a bad thing for me! Will be doing a lot of Filipino cooking this weekend thanks to Kabayan!

I replied, but if someone slips on it now, it will be too late won't it. With that, cashier got really worried and thought I had slipped on rubbish in store. The cashier then got a colleague to go out and pick rubbish up. Because this company is German and not English, they obviously think health and safety rules do not apply to them, like every other company in the UK. An absolute rubbish tip of a store. So after wandering about one day, waiting for Mr. Snarky to finish at work so we could head back to Bolton, I decided to take the bus out to Waitrose after looking up that they had a cafe that I could perch in. My experiences with Waitrose haven't been very many as I have often been in towns that don't have a Waitrose. However, this one is impressive and makes me wish this was down the street from the apartment. Firstly, this one is on the canal with seating outside. It was a gorgeous day and a really good move on Waitrose's part as those walking along the canal may stop in for coffee and cake. There is a juice/smoothie bar at the front of the store as you enter while there is a bakery with coffee shop at the back of the store. There is a little bar area where you can sit and enjoy or just take a break from shopping. The shop offers a nice variety of items, but yes, some of it is a bit pricier than the discount stores. However, you are probably more likely to find those specialty items you need to make that recipe you saw on t.v. here than in one of those discount stores... so pros and cons. There is a small toiletry area, but no housewares, etc. As I was walking through the beverage and alcohol aisle, I did notice a small "bar" where it looks like there might be wine tasting??? It was hard to see as there were a number of men in suits crowded around, but I swear they were having a late afternoon drink. There are self checkout kiosks if you prefer those, but it seemed like the majority of Waitrose customers prefer the staffed tills. Free loos through the seating area of the cafe. The cafe does offer different desserts than the bakery at the back of the store and they also offer hot food. You can sit inside... or you can sit outside, overlooking the canal. The set up is really quite nice. I took my tea outside to one of the picnic tables along the canal and admired the plants and gardening items they had on sale outside.
