Katherine, our waitress, was attentive and thorough, taking the time to walk us through the menu in detail and she kindly opened and poured the first round from the bottles of wine we had brought. A few things immediately stood out to me. First, there are three unisex washrooms that were exceptionally clean and equipped with modern fixtures, always a strong indicator of overall hygiene. Second, we were seated with a full view of the kitchen, which offered a fascinating glimpse into the preparation of each dish. It's rare to see a kitchen operating in such perfect harmony, especially one maintained in such pristine condition. Our party of four chose the table d'hôte: * Appetizers: Perogies aux champignons, crevettes grillées, crudo de bar rayé * Main courses: Bavette de bœuf, scialatielli alle vongole, pétoncles poêlés, tartare de bœuf * Dessert: Le fameux begne, Sernik, Dragon vert With the exception of the complementary amuse-bouche, a fried beef meatball which was too salty, everything else was well-seasoned and beautifully presented. Hot dishes were served on heated plates, a thoughtful touch. If I were to return, I would likely skip the perogies and the scialatielli pasta, as they were not our favorites. The turbot in the pasta dish was a delight, though. The rest of the dishes, however, were cooked to perfection, with unanimous agreement from our table on their delicacy and execution. Portions were generous. Our coup-de-coeur was the pétoncles poêlés. While I had hinted to the waitress to let the "birthday girl" taste the first sip of wine, hoping for a small gesture such as a dessert with a candle. That detail may not have come across, but given that this is not a formal white tablecloth restaurant and considering how busy the evening was, I get it. I am sure the desserts would have tasted better, but after waiting for a long while to be served, they lost their impact. Shortly after, we were informed that our seating time had come to an end as the next group was next. Overall, a vibrant dining experience with excellent food and an impressively run kitchen, despite a few minor service gaps on a very busy night.

For starters we got the mozzarella sticks and the garlic knots. Out of the two I preferred the mozzarella sticks. It came with a rosé sauce. The garlic knots were highly recommended by the waiter but it was nothing special. It didn't taste much like garlic and I wish it had been more doughy and soft. We shared two pizzas and a pasta dish. We got the Gino B pizza which contained pepperoni sausage, basil, tomato sauce and mozzarella. We also got the San Pio pizza which contained salami, hot peppers, mozzarella and tomato sauce. Out of the two we all preferred the San Pio. The hot peppers were spicy and made the pizza taste better. The pizzas were good but again nothing special. I didn't love the crust. It was harder than I would have liked and some parts were charred. The penne with basil pesto sauce was good. My boyfriend didn't enjoy it because he doesn't like his pasta al denté but my friend and I liked it. For dessert my friend and I shared the sundae and my boyfriend got the tiramisu. The desserts were very good! The sundae was praline ice cream with chocolate sauce. I made them put the cherries on the side instead of inside. Personally I don't think I would go back. There's better pizza places in Montreal.

Both were great! For mains we ordered the anchovy/zucchini flower pizza and the pepperoni pizza. Both were excellent. They are thin crust pizza's similar to their sister restaurant Gema. I went with a large group and got to try a family style set menu. 100% recommend the variety. Stand-outs included the stuffed chicken wings, liver toast, tomato salad, and fries + gravy. Everything else was good too though. The rotisserie chicken itself was cooked well / juicy but nothing unique flavour-wise.

Everything was exceptional in this elevated neighborhood spot that maintained a comfortable environment that was welcoming for all, including families. The others in my party kicked off dinner with a Martini and a Manhattan, which they appreciated. Our waitress presented all the menu items when we had questions about the French. Fresh, warm Hot Onion Buns arrived with delicious butter. Next our yummy starter arrived - Duck Terrine with Pistachios, served with cornichons, toast, and an exceptional mustard. All three of us as well appreciated the Chicken Soup with Raviolini - reminiscent of a well-crafted, flavorful Jewish chicken soup with kreplach. Finally, for our shared main course, we (of course) opted for their "Moitié Moitié" Free-Range Poultry Rôtisserie selection with 1/2 Chicken and 1/2 Guinea Foul, which came with Fries with their Homemade Chicken Sauce, plus sides of Cole Slaw and (Wow!! A favorite new thing for me!) the giant Maitake Mushroom with Pepper Sauce. All was outstanding!!! One note - We sat against the wall, while giving us a good view over the restaurant, boisterous adjacent families in this open space created at moments a little challenge conducting a conversation. Depending on your situation, you may want to take that into consideration when selecting a table. Definitely, I'd highly recommend La Lune! A wonderful staff there and loved the food!
