DO NOT PURCHASE A COUCH FROM POTTERY BARN. We have had a terrible experience with this company from start to finish. We worked with an store manager in CA and CO. The CA agent highly recommended the PB comfort in high performance fabric. We purchased this couch and upon delivery, it was already showing signs of pilling. Customer service offered us 1) $500 to accept as is 2) a Gleaner 3) to send us new cushions. We decided to accept the $500 with the good faith that this couch couldnt possibly get any worse. We were quickly proven wrong as it is completely pilling and looks like it is a 20 year old couch (now owning it for only 2 months). Pottery Barn told us that they can no longer help us since we accepted the $500 hush money and it is no longer within their warranty or responsibility. The disappointment further continues as a store manager told us that she would never have recommended this fabric to us and that she had to do various returns on this fabric in previous years. She said that it should be pulled from their inventory as she gets consistent complains. I shared this information with the customer service agent and she said "this is our top high performance fabric and i have worked here for 11 years and never received any returns or complaints on this". The lack of ownership, accountability, and pride of product conveyed by Pottery Barn is completely disappointing. We are now stuck with a $3,000 couch that is deteriorating. We even told Pottery Barn that we would purchase a new couch with a better fabric of equal or greater quality. We were about to purchase this couch, and then stumbled upon Arhaus. Their customer service, communication, and quality is worth the extra money and quite honestly makes Pottery Barn feel like it's of Ikea Quality. I highly suggest looking elsewhere to spend your money on an investment piece as Pottery Barn's quality and customer service cannot justify their Premium Price Points read more

Horrible experience today! I made an online appointment for an online zoom free design appointment. I was called to make an in person appointment instead. The woman that called me told me to take 360 videos of our rooms that we wanted to discuss as well as all measurements. She said that someone was going to sit with us to review it all and use some "fancy" software. Going in person was less than ideal for us because Walt Whitman mall is about 30 minutes from our house and we have a baby. Nevertheless, we went this morning for a 1030 appointment and nobody was ready for us. We finally had someone come over to talk to us and honor our appointment despite there being several other people in the design department looking for a consultation. She talked to us for maybe 15 minutes standing in a crowded area. She didn't make any recommendations except for swirling our living room around. She let us leave. I was told this is supposed to be an interactive 90 minute session to go over all of my questions and concerns and that did not happen. So on my first Mother's Day weekend, we wasted our entire morning, going to, and from the place, waiting around then talking to someone for a few minutes that gave us no helpful advice or recommendations on products. It is amazing how this chain is still in business. My prediction is that its on it way out considering my recent experience w the store in Walt Whitman Mall. Ordered expensive $125 curtain rod online and drove 20 miles to pick up. Upon entering store I see 1 at cashier and 2 others standing around talking to each other, fussing w merch. No one greeted me. After a few mins, I interrupted their convo by asking if they worked here and that I was here to pickup an online order. They fetched my merch. Great, out of here. Get home, open box and notice there's a shipping label addressed to another customer, so clearly a return. Well the rods were damaged, and did not extend. The color was chipped too. Called the store and they have NONE in stock. I asked what about another color? I'm flexible. Was told I need to look up item stock #! Really? Nice customer service - not. And i would have to reorder online thereby losing my online discount code. Apparently no stock in store except occasional returns. The braces also had a screw for clamping the rod, but the screws had no "head" and I couldn't turn them at all - a clear defect. So back to store to return. Again, Store staff has an "air" and treats you dismissively. While processing return, they continue their convo about another employee. Like how about focusing on my return? She returns w a printout and says credit will be issued 3-5 days but theres no confirmation on what credit card etc. Will have to ck to see if a credit actually shows up since the piece of paper they gave me was not like any other store returns. So, basically shoddy merch and snobby store sales people who cant be bothered to greet you and even look you in your eye. And EXPENSIVE! I ended going to Homegoods down the block and bought a pretty Rod for $20! Opened and its perfect. No defects. Pottery Barn is a high end brand with prices to match, but the customer service at this particular location is beyond awful. I had a bad experience a few months back and decided to wait on making a purchase. Decided to try again today. I spent 30 minutes in the store without so much as a "hi". I eventually started helping myself to fabric samples and figured out exactly what I wanted. The entire time I was there I watched as a salesperson worked with an exasperated customer trying to properly apply a discount to a very large order. They'd go from register to register in the store trying to get it to work. There best apology was "don't worry. this happens all the time." After 30 minutes I asked someone behind the front desk for assistance. They said I'd need to sign in, and then wait at least another 20 minutes, since one representative was on break. First, let me preface by saying that I was a loyal Williams Sonoma companies' customer. My husband and I recently purchased our first home, where we already have two coffee tables from West Elm and a dining table, 6 dining chairs, 8 kitchen chairs and a rug from Pottery Barn, and many other rooms to fill. I planned to furnish most of the house with Pottery Barn furniture. On July 28, 2021, my mother in law, my husband and I went to the Pottery Barn store in the Walt Whitman Mall in Huntington Station, NY with the specific purpose of purchasing the Oakleigh king bed, two Oakleigh nightstands, and two Oakleigh dressers. We waited over an hour for a store associate. We finally gave up, and went to the cash register to place our order directly since there were no associates available to assist. We were told the order would be delivered between November 7-28, 2021. While it was disappointing that we would have to wait that long, we understood that COVID has caused delays and were ok with waiting until November. November 7, 2021 came and went without any update from Pottery Barn. Then December came and went with only an email here or there. Then January hit, and I thought it was time to call to find out what was going on. I spoke with a very helpful associate named Sean who told me the full status of all of the furniture that we ordered. Sean apologized for the delay and agreed to note that we would receive 15% refund on our order due to the delay and lack of communication on Pottery Barn's part. I finally received word that the nightstands and dressers were ready for delivery. We were immediately charged the full amount for the entire order. The dressers and nightstands were delivered and the delivery folks left. A week later, the bed was supposed to be delivered. Allan, the delivery lead, and his assistant showed up on February 8 and unpacked the boxes. I overheard Allan on the phone, and nothing was getting installed. 20-30 minutes later, Allan called me downstairs to tell me that they did not have the entire bed on the truck and they were missing a minimum of one box, which was the box that basically had the entire bottom of the bed including the headboard, foot board, bed sides and the slats. After many conversations with Allan and a Pottery Barn representative named Kelley, the delivery folks left the pile of unassembled bed pieces in my extra bedroom and left. Kelley requested a box search on my behalf, and Kelley told me that I would hear within three business days, by February 11, 2022. On February 11, 2022, I did not receive any communication from Pottery Barn, so I called Pottery Barn customer service again. I spoke with a representative who told me that they needed one more business day to look for the bed pieces. I reluctantly agreed, and she promised I would receive a call back on Monday, February 14. Of course, I received no phone call on Monday, February 14, 2022, so I called Pottery Barn yet again. I was hung up on by three different associates before finally getting on the phone with Taylor. Taylor told me that there is nothing that he can do to assist, so I was transferred to a supervisor, Tamera. I can honestly tell you that Tamera is the nastiest, least friendly supervisor I have ever come in contact with in my 32 years of living. Tamera proceeded to tell me she "understands" my situation about 40 times, but then pivoted to tell me that she has no idea where the furniture is after speaking to someone at the delivery hub named Lois, and this is my problem. Tamera then told me that my only option was to order a replacement, which means I would have to wait until May 31, 2022 at the earliest for the bed, the bed that was originally ordered on July 28, 2021. When I asked about financial compensation, Tamera told me that it was the Williams Sonoma corporate policy to not offer any kind of financial compensation to customers, and that she would not be able to honor the 15% off that was given to me by Sean back in January 2022. In fact, Lois from the delivery hub was so horrified by the conversation that she separately called me and told me she could offer another 5% off, but by this point, it was so clear that Pottery Barn no longer wanted my business, so I declined her offer. I proceeded to cancel my entire order and asked for a full refund. It took over 3 weeks to get the full amount back. I will never shop at this place EVER again. read more

I love Pottery Barn, I have most of my furniture from there. However, this store has THE WORST customer service. When you go in the store, they are so rude to you and tell you to put your name on the list. Then they take hours to finally help you. Recently, I placed a very large order of furniture at the store and now I wanted to add something to my order so I called the store to do this. I was told someone would call me back within the hour - nobody called. I tried calling back a second time 2 days later and was told "Robin" would call me back in 40 minutes because she was helping another customer. It has now been 24 hours and I still haven't received a call back. Oh well, they are now missing out on the commission from my order which is a couple thousand dollars. I ordered a couch from Pottery Barn 3 months ago to make sure I had a new couch in my new house for Christmas, and they told me I would have it on November 19, 2014. I've now spent over 3 hours on the phone...twice... trying to find where this couch is, and why it hasn't been delivered yet, only to be told each time that they are 'expediting the shipping' , and it will be there soon. Today I called, and asked about the couch again, and not only did they give me the same tired old 'it will be there soon', but then said on the 800 number for Pottery Barn that they did not have managers there when I asked to speak to one. I will be refusing delivery of this couch if and when it finally gets here, and hopefully I can get a chargeback to them from my bank without too much hassle since I paid for this on my debit card. She was on hold with her own company's customer service for a long time - so long that I was able to call by mobile and get thru quicker. Handed phone to Angela after explaining situation to call center rep. How crazy. Your store employees work hard and try to help customers but your corporation doesn't seem to value its own human resources , their time and their ability to make decisions. It started 2 years ago with not receiving my daughter baby furniture in time------ (I ordered months ahead) to receiving wrong dishes a few months ago. While the sales women are nice there is no communication between them and customer service or online . You have to essentially call the 1-800 number for a thorny bad you wait on hold for over 45 minutes, to speak with someone who can't help you and hangs up on you. While I love the look of pottery barn the way the company runs has made me learn my lesson to stay away! read more

I have been a Pottery Barn customer for years. I make the majority of my purchases online but occasionally I will visit the store to see something in person before I pull the trigger. After calling to make sure the item I wanted to see was displayed on the sales floor, I made the 40 minute drive from my house to the store. The store was not very busy but all of the employees seemed "occupied." Unable to attract assistance, even though it was quite clear I was looking for something, I almost overlooked the piece I came to see. I was pretty mad thinking I had driven 40 minutes for nothing, especially since I called ahead. But it turned out the item on the sales floor was a different color then the one in the catalog, so I didn't recognize it at first. I finally thought I found someone to help me when I asked an employee if the item was available in the color I wanted. She said she would go check and be right back. While I was waiting, I looked it up on my phone. But being polite, I decided to wait for her to come back to let her know instead of just disappearing. After waiting about 10 minutes, I walked out. On the way out the door, I noticed the same sales woman on the other side of the store tidying displays. Either she forgot about me or she intentionally blew me off. Either way, it's inexcusable. This is not the first time I have experienced poor customer service at this location. PB Corporate, if you are reading this you should really look in to this issue. I NEVER write reviews, but Pottery Barn has me pretty fired up... This store should be closed. They are ALYWAYS short staffed and the staff they do have offer PB customers the worst customer service. Since I loved every PB product I have ever ordered online, it seemed like a no brainer that I would register for my Bridal Shower at the Walt Whitman location. I called to make an appointment to have someone help my fiancé and I through the registration process, but they told us to just come in whenever we wanted. We went to the store and wandered around looking for an available rep. After about 10-15 minutes and being sent from the back counter to the front, then to the back again, someone set us up with a registration scanner. We had trouble scanning a few items, which we had to again search for a sales rep to help us. I asked for some advice picking out napkins, table clothes and linens, but the staff was not helpful at all. We got through the registration process on our own. Fast forward a few months, I had some items to return. I had 12 boxes to bring to the store. No one helped me. The door in the front is very heavy, making the multiple trips from my car to the store very difficult. I stacked all the boxes in the store and waited on the line. The cashier kept taking people in front of me because I had a complicated return. I returned over $500 of merchandise and left the store with nothing. The cashier was on the phone with PB for over 15 minutes handling my return. I'm not sure what was so difficult as I had provided receipts for everything. The store credit was mailed to me a week later. I opened up a lamp that I received for my Bridal Shower and it was broken. I just called the store to find out if they had this particular item in stock, providing the description and item number and they told me twice to "just go look online and add it to my cart". At this point, I have had it with this store. This store should have been appreciative and grateful that I used their store for all my wedding gifts, but instead they were the most unhelpful staff and worst customer service I have ever experienced. I would not recommend this location for anyone to create a registry at. The registration process should be a fun experience, but that is the opposite of what PB provides. This store is terrible for Pottery Barn business and I can't imagine this business would put such high quality products in the hands of some of the worst staff I have ever dealt with. read more

Probably one of my favorite places to shop. I always try and work with Mary in design services, she's so knowledgeable and talented. I recently purchased new dinnerware and Virginia helped me go through each item of eight settings to make sure that they all matched perfectly. The staff here always goes above and beyond to assist me in any way that they can which is why I would rather shop in store than online. If I ever had any issues, the manager Robin would go out of her way to resolve them. read more

THE WORST! I just came home from the Walt Whitman mall visiting BOTH Pottery Barn and West Elm next door trying to buy a couch. BOTH stores were re-merchandising and making major moves to their store but only ONE store cared about making sure their customer's needs were met and it DEFINITELY WASN'T Pottery Barn. They cared more about rearranging and restocking merchandise than trying to sell any of it to customers. The store was so horribly messy, it was very difficult to walk through and they kept large chunks of shipment on furniture we were interested in buying with NO ONE'S help. No one made themselves available to help. It got so bad that I wanted to put a formal complaint about the lack of service directly but how was I going to do it when they're ALL TO BLAME for not engaging with their customers? I've worked retail before and I get it, sometimes we're overloaded on tasks that we have to get finish before our shift and we let go of our primary focus but I also know that sales are made when customers are confident in their purchases with the company and that can only happen when employees execute what they NEED to do versus what they HAVE to do. I asked over in Pottery Barn for kids and asked about another color bunny and 3 people all at the register and NOT one could acknowledge I was even there let alone answer me. One woman who had punched out my husband asked if he could ask a quick question and she was on her way out, she clicked out and my husband asked is there a better time to come? And she said you can make an appointment. I was given the store phone number my another woman, and honestly the one person who spoke to us and answered It and we learned we can schedule a design time. No signs anywhere as people crowd the design people. Maybe a sign??? Letting the public know they can opt to schedule an appointment! One manager blamed Covid. If I could go with zero stars I would. I paid 3000 on twin bed, trundle, small chest and an end table. I had no problem with the set I picked until I saw how much they were charging for delivery. They were trying to charge over 500.00 for delivery. That is absolutely crazy. I decided to cancel and go to crate and barel. She said that the main office was going to send me a check in the mail. Instead I got a store credit of 2800. I had to call back and complain. What is really funny about this. On my receipt it says full refund within 7 days. It was the next day I canceled.
