I met her at EOS gym in Palm Springs several years ago. Before she began work in Palm Desert and La Quinta. She was my personal fitness trainer. I went through a health crisis (unexpected heart surgery!) during my time training with Melissa. When I finished recovering at home and returned to the gym, she went above and beyond what would have been expected of a personal trainer. Taking things slow, adapting to what I needed and making it all work. For real. No Joke. I will be forever grateful to her for being there like that. It was difficult yet she remained brave and confident. Making her new healthy exercise program for me happen. First I appreciate this is not a "franchise" Pilates studio but a boutique Pilates studio owned by Sean Bergara. He is an experienced Pilates instructor and educator. He has created his own brand of Athletic Reformer Pilates which is very fun and challenging for your level. He and his team of instructors are excellent. They are willing to work with your physical abilities and injuries to ensure you get the workout you need. I love how there is a modification for all levels. Second, the studio is lovely, modern and clean. It even smells good. There are eight reformers so classes are small so you can get help or corrections if need be. One can get either a daily pass or a weekly pass, perfect for the many tourists that travel through Palm Springs. The clientele appears to be almost entirely gay men -- I might have seen two women in the entire facility. I felt comfortable wearing very little while working out -- short shorts and a tight tank top, and I fit right in. The equipment and the space itself are fine, a bit rough around the edges and it could be cleaner. And the men's locker room was quite crowded and smelled a bit musty -- the steam room is essentially an orgy room. There are more polished gyms in the area, but if you are visiting and want to get a workout in, as well as have some additional fun, this is the place to go.

Dave knows what he is doing and pays close attention to his clients. Not only does he keep the workouts interesting, he listens closely to your feedback. I've noticed it's helped me get more stamina. For instance, just two weeks ago, I had to run from the SFO Terminal 1 TSA check-point to gate B13. That's quite a distance, especially since they've remodeled. I was so surprised that I could do it without any trouble. In the past, I would have been out of breath and perspiring profusely. Thanks to Zumba Gold, I made my flight with just a few minutes to spare. And about the class, the instructor, Barbara, is amazing! She's super welcoming to everyone who's new, teaches/models the dance moves, gives personalized tips, and makes sure everyone has a blast regardless of whether they are just starting out or are quite accomplished. The class is now held in the Fitness Studio adjacent to the Fitness Edge. The owners of the Fitness Edge have created a terrific space for all sorts of classes in addition to Zumba Gold.
