The Midway Plaisance is actually NOT quite completely owned by the University, which is probably why this is able to be here. On Midway P, you are literally in the the middle of the street, with long, gorgeous soccer fields around you. There are 2 stages, going east and west, with great acoustics (ok I'm not an expert). There are food trucks and beverages, but you can bring your own; same with chairs too. It starts early afternoon and goes until 9 or 10 at night, but it is NOT wall to wall music, as there are other venues (indoor) that need attention too. The artists may be up and comers or veterans, maybe not whom you would see in Jazz Review. Note: The big bands are on the outside stages, whereas the the 'small' groups (trios, quartets, soloists) are in the small indoor areas (churches, art centers at the U of C, even Hyde Park Bank!). There are shuttle buses that can take you to vendors, and a down and upsides are that one can't stay in the same venue for too long. On a nice day when strolling is fun, with NO limited mobility, that's a good activity. The downside to late Sept/early fall is cool weather, rain and HORNETS!

This 1500 square foot space functions as an art gallery, so beautiful art adorns the walls. The interior has a raw, minimalist vibe to it, which is refreshing. In the center of the gallery, there's a bar with about 6 or 7 stools. Also, there are a couple flat screen tv's and stereo system with a microphone that we used for karaoke at the end of the night. In short - we had a blast! This space is very affordable, plenty of parking, beautiful vintage space and the staff (who actually live in the building) were really nice/ helpful. Oh, and it's also run completely by wind power too!

Locals call it "The Hardest Table in Chicago" so plan to make your reservations WELL in advance! We shared the gem lettuce salad, the lobster roll, and a cookie for dessert. The gem lettuce salad while simple is honestly one of my favorite salads I've ever had. The lobster roll was perfect as was the cookie. The ambiance was 5/5, service and experience was 5/5, and the food itself a 4/5. If you are able, I highly recommend trying three arts, you won't regret it!! I will say three arts is expensive, so maybe save it for a special occasion.

The moment you walk in and see someone dressed head to toe in black, you might start having second thoughts about whether you belong there. I know I did. But the farther you walk in, the more you realize that feeling is intentional. This place isn't trying to be for everyone, and that's exactly what makes it work. The red lighting, the loud music, and the mix of sports, rock videos, and the people around you somehow create a vibe that's difficult to describe the first time you experience it. It's chaotic, but in a way that feels authentic rather than forced. Full disclosure, I've been here before with friends. We usually end up on the rooftop having wings and drinks. This time, though, I stopped in by myself because I wanted something quick and easy. The waitress was friendly, easygoing, and genuinely personable. She got my order exactly right, and I found myself watching the England FIFA match while a rock video played on one screen and a baseball game played on another. Nothing about this place feels average, and that's what makes it memorable. The wings came out piping hot, and the fries were cooked perfectly. They were exactly what I was hoping for. The only reason I'm giving four stars instead of five has more to do with my own hangups than anything the restaurant did. Reggies knows exactly what it wants to be, and it does that exceptionally well. If you're looking for a place with personality, good food, and an atmosphere that refuses to blend in, it's absolutely worth checking out.

My friends and I took the Reggie's concert bus after spending about 3.5 hours inside of the bar/restaurant. While in the restaurant service wasn't the best BUT they had only one waiter on staff so it's at no fault to the people working. Food and drinks were pretty good albeit overpriced. The problem wasn't with this... it was the bus. After arriving incredibly early we were placed on a bus that was incredibly late. While in the bus we got stuck in major traffic right outside the venue and the show had already started. Drinks were served in the bus and after sitting in traffic for what felt like ages people had to use the restroom. Well, after some begging about 15 individuals got off the bus to use a nearby porta potty. This is when the driver took the chance to gun it and fly by traffic (again we were already extremely late and still don't know why he didn't do this sooner) and leave all of those individuals stranded pretty far from the venue. That being said. we missed about half the concert because we were waiting for our friends who were stranded to arrive. Why didn't we go in? A phone was also left behind in the process with no help from the driver (the bartender? again she was great!). A new ticket also had to be purchased because of this. And if that isn't bad enough, coming back he refused to let my friends he left behind back on the bus (one of my friends did say "that wasn't very nice to leave us like that sir" which clearly triggered him). Thankfully another bus let us on with sympathy from both the driver and the bartender who could not believe how terribly he treated people and had heard similar stories from from several other passengers. Please do better Reggie's! I wanted to keep coming back but after that I NEVER want to run into that employee again.
