Monte Taxco - Evening View of the Valle de Taxco from Montetaxco

I feel it has the best view of the city below while right across from the Teleférico. However, getting up to the hotel is no easy feat. It's a strenuous uphill climb for cars and the roads are cobblestone with just enough room for 2 small cars. Once up at the hotel, walk through the lobby and down to the pool to get a view of the City Taxco. The city is built similar to that of Cusco, Peru. Houses and buildings are built into the mountainside and all the roads are cobblestone. The hotel has two pools; one for adults with the depth of 6-7 ft and kiddos about 2 feet deep. It was windy day so the pool had some debris, but there was a pool person cleaning. Another cool thing about the was the glass elevator tp get a view of the city as well. Hotel Montetaxco also has a huge restaurant, poolside bar and upstairs bar. Although we didn't have a chance to partake in the festivities ( there was live music here on a Wednesday night dinner time). I can attest the service is excellent. On Friday morning I went down to breakfast to get a slice of chocolate cake for my mother in laws birthday and they enthusiastically obliged and took the time to write "Feliz cumpleanos!". The rooms we had were average i would say. We had two beds ( full size), good water pressure and most importantly the Air conditioner worked! A sliding backdoor led into the hotel grounds which was great to hang out outside at night. Overall, I would return here. If you're in the area gotta stay here at least one night.

Montetaxco is all about the glorious views of valle de Taxco. Make sure to wake up early to see some beautiful sunrises. The food is nice but the amenities are a bit dated so do not expect 5 stars. After enjoying the town of Taxco, Montetaxco Villa is a great way to end your evening.

THIS IS FOR THE MINE TOUR ONLY. 5 stars…read more According to a fellow Yelper, there has been some shady business with the hotel staff and customers' belongings. Which takes away from the 5 star review. I came here to take a tour of La Mina. It's a silver mine that was shut down hundreds of years ago, and only rediscovered 4 years ago--locates underneath the hotel! The tour is only about $150 pesos, and includes a drink afterwards--I'll get to that. The tour guide was so patient and informative. Most people here only speak Spanish, but he would translate into English for me the best he could. I was able to ask some questions in Spanish so I could better understand. The mine is VERY cool. I learned a lot! Afterwards, you can see a mural by Juan O'Gorman & Diego Rivera, constructed in the 1950's. Your drink token can be used at their poolside bar with breathtaking views of Taxco. I ended up staying for dinner on the balcony, and was the only person in the whole place! It was perfect, and the food was incredible. I would come back to tour the mine again, but per my fellow Yelper, would be wary to stay overnight.

A few years ago I stayed here and was completely robbed within my hotel by the staff. After several attempts, I could not do anything to resolve this. When we entered our room the doors were completely locked and our bags were seemingly untouched until we looked deeper. It was clearly an inside job and two MacBook computers were stolen along with some valuable clothing items. It was such an awful experience to feel helpless. I randomly decided to see if this place had any reviews and found that there was a 5-star review. I wanted to make sure and share my experience so no one else was misled. IF you still decide to stay here please be very very aware of and safe with your things. Do not leave your blinds at all open. I believe that is how the wait staff was able to see that our bags had valuable items stored in them. Please be careful.

On the day of travel, we boarded the shuttle for the transport to the Hacienda. It is actually located 35 minutes south of Cuernavaca in Amacuzac, Morelos. The Hacienda was a sugar cane plantation and it still grows sugar cane as evidenced from the canes in the fields on this large property. But the main part of Hacienda is beautiful from the rooms, swimming pools, restaurant and the grounds. Our friends had a pre-wedding reception party at the bar/pool area for the guests. The next day, the wedding was held in a large lawn area that was beautifully set-up. After the wedding the guests walked to the waterfall area for the reception. Then we all proceeded to the restaurant for the dinner/reception. It was a beautiful wedding event at the Hacienda all around. For amenities, we did horseback riding, which was an hour ride guide by a vaquero, though the Hacienda property. You can swim, play tennis, go to the spa and play billiards. The restaurant offers a breakfast buffet and a set menu at the patio area. There was free wi-fi, but it was limited to the area around the hotel office and restaurant. Due to the stone walls, you cannot pick-up wi-fi from your room. Wished there were routers in the rooms. It was nice experience being in a lovely Hacienda. Beautiful grounds and friendly service.

The Hacienda built by Hernan Cortes was…read moreoriginally used to produce sugar and over the years it became a residence and was rebuilt and transformed into a hotel. If you are looking for a historic place to relax for several days, this is the place! You will sleep in very clean and very comfortable rooms (the pictures on their website don't do them justice). If you are used to AC just make sure to select your room accordingly as it can get hot during the spring/summer months. The garden and pool area are extremely well kept and you can also play tennis or volleyball there, go for horse rides or get a massage. The staff is amazing and the food here is delicious. If you plan your wedding here, you have several beautiful locations for cocktail/ceremony/party to choose from on the hacienda. It is just the perfect location! FYI a fun fact, just recently the Netflix series Bandidos was filmed here.

You can see various historical artifacts throughout the place. Like water ducts and the original kitchen that was next to his master suite (that you can rent) in case he got hungry in the middle of the night. The pools are huge and very Romanesque feel with pool side service and lounge chairs and shade. We went for our friends 25 wedding anniversary and it was so freaking hot it was crazy. The rooms have AC and mosquito repellent-very much needed once the sun goes down. You can horse ride around the property and order a massage. Its mostly just chill here not much to do but relax, eat and drink. Its ugly little town on the drive in but once you hit the hotel its another world. Staff goes above and beyond in helping. Its old school here they don't have even do on line reservations. Food was good as well as the drinks. Everything reasonably priced. I loved getting away from it all and my husband and I had a great time at this party held here on the premises. Bring cool clothes lots of sunblock and be ready to just sit back and relax.
