We stayed in this hotel March 7 through the 11th 2019 and believed everything the website. Bad idea. No gym, no 24 hour bar. Food and any liquor ends at 5pm. Coffee is at 7 am in Styrofoam cups. The only saving grace in this hotel is Concierge Reyna! She booked taxis to tourist sites outside San Miguel. Hotel is clean and sterile in ambiance. Price okay. Location good. Able to walk to town and other hotels and restaurants easily. Town is amazing hotel would not be my first choice again.

Well, this place is expensive. That's God's Honest Truth. I think it might be one of the most…read moreexpensive hotels in the entire country. I paid more for three nights there than I pay for a month's rent in one of the most expensive zip codes in the Bay Area. In fact, when I swiped my Visa card at the front desk, a guy from JP Morgan called me and said "hey, before I approve this charge, are you SURE? There are cheaper four star hotels just down the block." Despite the bone-chilling prices at this place -- in a developing country, no less, which seems slightly morally obscene -- it was worth every peso. The Rosewood SMA is iconic. Immaculate. Gorgeous. I stayed there with my dad, who despite growing up In SoCal had only been to Mexico once before, and that was to Tijuana. Yea, Teeejuaaaanaaa. But the Rosewood SMA was, to put it lightly, the most delightful foil to TJ. The rooms are exquisite, right down to the deliciously cozy bath sheets. Service was super-personalized; the concierge, Miguel, made us feel right at home and even suffered my Spanglish with a smile. I spent way too much time by the pool(s), which are clean and lightly chlorinated. My dad had a massage which he commented was one of the best in his life. And we made sure to head up to the rooftop every evening for mezcal and sunset, a can't-be-missed experience. I've stayed at a lot of hotels. But this place takes the cake. My financial advisor may never allow me to stay here again but I don't regret a bit the lifetime memories my Rosewood stay gave me and my dad.

There's also a pool table, and foosball. The rooms are very nice with tile floors, big flat screen TV, and patio. There are a handful of channels in English that show movies, and an MTV station playing videos from the 90's and early 2000's. The only two things was that the the bathroom sink was leaking, and it was so loud that we had to turn off the water supply just so we can sleep. Also the heater was loud when it was running. But other than those two things, it was an amazing time!

I went to lobby to ask if I could switch rooms. The game room would close at 11 p.m. That was too late. They were able to find a room for me. There were some loud kids in the connecting room next to my new one but luckily, they went to sleep by 11. The walls are thin. Next day I enjoyed some time by the swimming pool deck. I ordered a tamarindo margarita. It's the best I've tried. The pool is not heated. The included breakfast buffet was huge with lots of options. The bar next to the restaurant has karaoke on Tuesdays. I joined some locals who were singing Latin American songs. I'd stay here again.

We stayed in room 9 (there are only 9 rooms) and it had a balcony with a peek-a-boo view of the church. I was told that the largest room is room 1 but it's right across the way from the front desk. Which may be noisy for some. We requested a crib during our reservation and a pack n play was already set up when we arrived. Customer service was very friendly and extremely helpful. Room 8 & 9 are up the stairs and across the bridge. Both king bed rooms. It's a quiet room and went didn't need the ear plugs they provided on each night stand. We heard the occasional church bells ringing but not loud enough to wake us. AC unit worked like a charm. TV had basic channels but wasn't used very much. The balcony overlooked a very cute garden. They have complimentary breakfast on the rooftop dining area. They had a nice spread: coffee, orange juice, toast, yogurt, two kinds of cereal, fresh cut fruit, and bananas. They also have a little menu you can order from for an additional cost. Chilaquiles con huevos served with a side of beans and toasted slices of a baguette. Yum! If you have a car, they have a complimentary valet. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. Only con is the hot water. It runs out quick so no long hot showers.
