Wellllll...the staff was very friendly and the pictures came out decent, but my 7:40pm appointment didn't get us taking pictures until 9:00pm, and we left that joker at 10:00 pm! I know I was supposed to pack my patience this close to Christmas, but I must have left it at home! The couches GROSSED ME OUT! My granddaughter (and probably every child that entered that place for the last 20 years) felt it necessary to stick her finger in the skeevy hole in the arm of the couch...ewww! I felt like I needed to douse myself in hand sanitizer when I let there. Maybe I have issues, I admit I do, but the place would benefit from a cleaning and refreshing of furniture if they are going to have people wait around for hours beyond the scheduled appointment time. Over all, mission accomplished, pictures are decent, but for the prices being asked, I could probably do a private studio. read more

Horrible service did not present multiple background options on for photos. The men's bathroom was out of order and women's bathroom was filthy and smelled awful. Staffing was slim so we endured a longer th man usual wait to begin our photo session. I recommend not using Portrait Innovations as it may be a huge disappointment. Staff not fully trained on photo package options resulting in numerous "lemme ask my manager," moments. Also note that the coupons are only good for one family despite the fact you may be multiple families. If one child is in a another families photo then you are considered the same family. read more

Made an appointment to take our family and Hanukkah pictures here today. Jeremy was pleasant and even let me visit the studio a few days before our appointment so that I could see the backdrops in advance to coordinate props and outfits. He told us that they get busy on the weekends so that there would probably be a wait. No problem, I said. Even the website and all correspondence leading up to your appointment says "don't come early." Our appointment was at 10:50 and we walked through the doors at 11 - it was raining, the parking lot was full, and we were carrying bags with our additional outfits and Hanukkah props, as they only offer one oversized menorah without any candles. We also have our 10 month-old in tow. I waited at the counter as another customer selected photos for printing and checked out. I waited as the person at the counter made notes on a piece of paper. Finally, I was acknowledged and I asked if we could check in. A female employee walks behind the man at the counter and says, "your appointment was 17 minutes ago." I said, "I understand. However, I've also been waiting in line." She retorts with, "WERE YOU STANDING IN LINE FOR 17 MINUTES?" Well, probably not, but that doesn't seem like a response from a "professional." I explained that we were told that there would be a wait, so we came at this time. She said that appointments were scheduled for every five minutes (?!?) and that there was no grace period. She said that we couldn't be seen if we didn't show right on time. I couldn't find ANYTHING about not keeping appointments if one was late either on the website or in any emails or texts received from Portrait Innovations. That "rule" was NEVER communicated to me, ever. Then she tells me that we can't be seen at a later time today. I walk out of the studio, check the website, and there were SEVERAL appointments available FOR TODAY. I booked/confirmed one, so I'll update this review after our session - unless, that is, there's a new "rule" created so we can't get our Hanukkah pictures. Updated to note that we ended up canceling our next appointment as the waiting area was STILL packed with people and we were able to get another appointment at a different studio. read more

My family was there for an appointment 30 minutes early, and waited over an hour past the actual appointment time without being seen. When we asked for an update, the customer service rep was extremely rude and unprofessional, and said it'd be at least another 20 minutes. She offered no apology for the inconvenience. No one has time to waste, especially around the holidays. If this place can't book efficiently, that should NOT be the customer's problem. I can see now why their ratings are horrible. Atrocious. Would do a half star if possible. Why do they even take appointments if you are an hour or more late? Customer Service was also lacking and the employees were clearly not informed about the process of how the company works. Although we were approximately 5-10 minutes late for our 6pm appointment... it's 6:27 and we still haven't been seen. On top of that... another family has "apparently" SLID in front of us for a photo session as the gentleman stands in the background on his phone. No one has bothered to say anything to us nor apologize for the obvious delay! I see why this location only has 2 stars as the rating is well deserved! So 10min later AFTER she finished the photo session I voiced my dismay with the MANAGER & I'm CERTAIN she's the reason for the 2 star rating! There was no remorse nor did she apologize. The gentleman Derrick did explain the delay (which was appreciated). If it wasn't for the fact my son was leaving town Friday... we would have left & rescheduled someplace with more respect for their customers time & BETTER CustomerService! Terrible!!!!! I'm usually not that person to write negative reviews but I am today! If it were possible to give ZERO stars I would! I am not sure how their scheduling system works but it's safe to say that it is NOT working! We arrived on time for our scheduled 4:20 pm session only to meet a crowd of at least 50 people. We checked in and asked how long the wait was. All they could say was that it was a really long time as everyone there had an appointment as well. We figured okay we will wait it out. Once we could find somewhere to sit, we struck up a conversation with another family and found out that their appointment was for 3:40. By this time it was already 5 pm. As we sat, we noticed that there was no way to really know the order we were going in. We didn't hear any names being called, we couldn't tell who the photographer was, and all in all it was just a chaotic environment. This was made worse by the fact that we had a very antsy two year old. After waiting until almost 6 pm with no end in sight. We decided to leave and schedule with another studio. Portrait Innovations is a company that apparently only focuses on quantity instead of quality. They don't deserve anyone's business and I'm glad they didn't get my hard earned money. This studio is HORRIBLE! Had an appointment today at 6:40 pm. Didn't start my session until almost 7. I am a decently patient person the wait didn't really bother me. Once our session began the MANAGER was directing our shoot. She had no enthusiasm about our shoot gave horrible direction and didn't let my husband or I pick poses. After snapping 5 pics on a plain brown background (that the b*tchy manager chose) she asked if we could go change into our next outfit. When I registered for my appointment I let them know I would be doing a maternity shoot. Next, I go change into my tube top to allow for my belly to be visible in pics while my husband puts on a more comfortable/relaxed t shirt. When we walked back to the room ANOTHER group was in the room getting photos done of an infant. We were only gone for about 2 minutes! My husband and I were PISSED. I am now standing in a full studio half dressed with about 40 people waiting for the b*tchy manager to make a baby smile!! We were LIVID so we left. The manager knew the type of outfit I was changing into and should have had a sense of decency and held the room for us since she forced us to change. I don't recommend anyone go here to get photos. Completely unprofessional. Should not be allowed to call themselves a portrait studio. There's no way I would have been able to finish a session as upset as I was. I would have won an Oscar with that performance. STEER CLEAR OF PORTRAIT INNOVATIONS. The one star is the minimum!! I wish I could leave no stars. Will be calling corporate on Monday. Stay away! Very POOR customer service. No sense of time management either, we always wait at least 30 minutes (or more) until our pictures are taken. Not the best situation when you have a baby. I usually schedule his pictures after his feeding but before his nap so that he will be in a good mood... there's no point, they just keep scheduling people and making people wait and wait and wait. I keep giving them the look and half of them are in the printing room on their cell phones. Biggest complaint, after we had taken our pictures, my husband and I told the guy who took our pictures that we just wanted one pose for 9.99 (the special for that month). As we are talking, a lady with her granddaughter walks in and he says, "Oh great, the lady who comes in every month is here again. She always comes in for just the special, how are we suppose to make money? We take so many pictures and our company thinks we are going to make money selling packages for 9.99? Do you know how many people have been fired because of people like her?" In my head I'm thinking... THIS ISNT AWKWARD??? THIS IS DEFINITELY NOT PROFESSIONAL??? WHY IS HE STILL VENTING??? NEVER DEALING WITH THIS GUY AGAIN!!! Anyway, never dealing with these people ever again and I suggest finding another place. They may be cheap but they aren't worth the trouble. I've been to this studio twice and both times it just seemed backed up. They take appointments and walk ins, i'd recommend you make an appointment, although even with an appointment you're still waiting. Both times I've gone I did get the same photographer, whose name I can't remember but she's friendly and did remember my son. The last time I came I had an appointment at 4:20 and we weren't out until about 7:10 or so and had a member of the group wait for the pics. They close at 6 but as long as you don't leave you can still get your pics after. The good thing about this place is that if you want/ need your photos the day of they are ready in about 15-20 mins. Appt time was at 10:35, and it is now 11:30, and the folks at the front desk did not think we were here yet! Lol. This place was established to cram as many pics/people in at one time. The front desk routinely had 2-3 people looking around and talking. Not sure if the company encourages cross- training but it appears 1 person takes pics, 1 person sells/goes over pics, and 1 person answers the phone. Instead of training everyone to take pics and review them....the line would move faster. Their appt times seem to be every 5 minutes, and i have no idea how that is practical with larger groups? It is a Saturday but the company has to do a better job of training and hiring people that care about sticking to appointment times. Update 1: so 2 hours later and we are reviewing pics. Of course there is a "package deal" starting at 730 bucks (holiday special!!). Look, the pics were good and they have a set number of poses. Great. For 700 bucks tho...nah! We choose a couple family pics at 28 bucks per and called it a day. In the end - 2.5 hours to walk out with 3 photos. Pass. read more

I've been to this location a few times now in the past 3 years. I've always been happy with the results of my pictures. The only reason I didn't give a 5 star rating is because I have had some not so great moments. The moments weren't that horrible to make me stop going, and I definitely learned to not go during high picture taking times, and to not get talked into spending more than what I went in wanting to spend. read more

I recently had my daughter's 16th birthday photo shoot done at the Waldorf location and our photographer was Blix, who was absolutely great at capturing every moment perfectly. She was soooo patient and helpful. She got my daughter's friends together for photos between her wardrobe change, which were a great surprise during the package selection. I don't even know where to start. The employees barely tried to get our kids (4&2) attention for our holiday photo. After two rooms we left then were told we didn't have the 60 shots we needed so had to stand around and wait for a room to open up again. When we finally did get to see our photos we weren't told what the cheapest package options were no matter how many times we asked. Finally at check out I wasn't given my military discount though I was in uniform. When I went back to pick up the pictures the manager refused to give me the discount as it had to happen at the time of the transaction. I could've fought but instead I'll just never go there again; they've lost my business. Worst customer service I've experienced in years. The boy taking our pictures was VERY unprofessional. Didnt take his time with our family and while choosing our photos was on his phone texting the ENTIRE time which caused him to mess up several times. My sister ended up picking up pictires and taking them home in a rush not looking at them before she left the store. All were off center...the big photo was one we did not choose! Eyes closed...someone looking away from the camera. It was awful. Anxious to see how the problem is resolved. I will update on their unsatisfied customer handling skills. read more

I had a great experience. I took my 10 year old son there to get his Tae Kwon Do black belt pictures taken and they came out amazing. I planned to only get the special, but left with a huge package and three photo books. The staff was friendly and the manager was very knowledgeable. We are really happy with our newborn photoshoot here. I had researched other professional photographers locally and everyone was either booked or incredibly expensive. Portrait Innovations was able to get us in the next day. Sheryl did a wonderful job. With an 11 day old newborn, it was challenging since I needed to feed her several times throughout our session. Sheryl was patient and sweetly told us to take our time. She was experienced in helping with poses, and very accommodating, since we came prepared with poses that we wanted. There was a wait when we got there, however, this should be expected at a large portrait studio that is cost effective. Sheryl was also great at patiently going through each of our photos and making edits as we requested them. We would definitely return. read more

I was apprehensive about going because of the previous reviews. However I am glad we gave it a shot. We had Robert as our photographer. He did a GREAT job. Typically it's difficult to get pictures of our toddler. However he was able to get TONS of photos of her smiling and laughing. We also loved that all of the pictures were not posed he caught them in moments that best show their personality. The photos were a bit pricy and they don't have a pricing guide that can be viewed before hand. There is also a handling fee they don't mention. However I will be a return customer. I really enjoy the photo session for my son senior pictures and the photographer was great. However I am highly disappointed with the customer service. Our package came with 3 photo books. My son took his pictures 5/20/17 and we are just getting he books back 7/18/17, after 3 visits, 4 phone calls and two call to customer service. The last straws was TODAY I received a call for the studio tell me my books are ready and have been since May and they don't want to send them back. LIES. They also claim I was emailed, funny how I get all the coupons and advertisement but nothing about my order. I just talked to customer service last night. I have been to many portrait innovations and they all are pretty busy whenever you go due to the low cost, mediocre quality pictures. However, this one SUCKS! I arrived for my 1:10 appointment at 1:00 to only find out that they were a HOUR behind schedule! Ok that is unacceptable, maybe you should open some more photo rooms and invest in more staff. Also, neither bathrooms worked so we couldn't even use the rest room during this extended wait. Went to Portrait Innovations in Waldorf on a Saturday for family pictures for Christmas gifts. I had an appointment, but when I got there it was very busy. We were seen about 15 minutes after our appointment time (which isn't too bad), but the whole experience was just rushed because they were trying to get your photos done so they could start on the next person. We had a large group (6 adults, 7 children) and we were using a coupon that allowed us to get 9 poses. The photographer took only three pictures of each pose and moved on. Once we were able to actually look at the photos, we realized that some of the photos didn't have a good quality picture in the three pictures that she snapped. The kids were looking down or up and in our group photo two of our guys were trying to peak out from other people's head. I felt like they should have noticed that when taking the photos and arranged us differently. So out of the nine poses that we did, there were five poses that we literally just had to pick the "best" photo out of the bad photos. It was really disappointing. The package that we were getting allowed us to receive one hard back photo book, two softback photo books, a calendar and a CD. I haven't actually received my hard back photo book, my soft back photo books, or calendar so I cannot comment on the quality - but I will tell you that the photo books they offer have many, many pages so with only nine poses allowed you ended up duplicating the photos - A LOT. I don't really understand why they offer this, knowing the nine photos will not take up the book. It seems like a waste. Now onto the CD. I have been to many photo places (Picture People, JCPenny's, some local photographers) and when you buy their CD, you also buy the RIGHTS to your pictures so you can print them anywhere. This is not the case with Portrait Innovations. When you get their CD, you have your poses in a low resolution file with their logo on the bottom of them. They aren't worth ANYTHING. You can't do anything with them except maybe post them to a social networking site. THEY DO NOT TELL YOU THIS. My sister and I asked (at different times) if we could use the CD to print additional photos at Wal-Mart, Walgreens, CVS, or home and we were told YES both times by different people working there. Then, when I got the CD home and realized what they gave me, I called up there and they said that you can only print additional photos if you printed them through them because you don't have any rights to the photos. WHAT!?! When I asked the pricing for the additional prints, they were $20 a sheet! To get everything that we wanted printed for our family, we would have ended up paying over $600!!! For that price I could have gone to a PROFESSIONAL photographer. I was completely crushed. My sister had to call up there and pretty much go irate with the manager before he told us that we can request the high resolution photos from the Corporate Office. He told her that she had to come in and pick up a form that had to be filled out and emailed to the office. She went up there the next day (drove from King George, VA) and was turned away because the manager she spoke with wasn't there. They told her that she had to come back the next day. When I found this out, I of course was NOT happy. I called up there and the manager working at the time told me she didn't understand why they just didn't email me the form in the first place. She emailed me the form and I actually had to laugh when I saw it. It wasn't even a form - just directions on how to request your photos and it is all done through email. There was no reason my sister wasted gas and drove from King George to Waldorf to even try to get this form. I also want to say again, NO WHERE do they tell you the images you are receiving on the CD are low resolution images. On the coupon we were using, it states that we will be receiving a CD of our favorite portraits. It doesn't even say in the fine print the images are low resolution. I searched their website and again, found NOTHING about the low resolution pictures. I would never use/recommend Portrait Innovations. If I would have known all of the grief that I was going to face, then I would have never went there. JCPenny's is actually offering a deal right now where you get a high resolution CD with ALL your sessions portraits on it for $49.99. They do require a sitting fee, however it would have come to about the same price we paid for the package we ordered and we could have printed additional photos anywhere without any headache. I would have gave them "no stars" but Yelp forces you to pick at least one star. UPDATE: Corporate Office denied me the high resolution images. They offered me a $50 gift certificate to print additional photos (which obviously is NOT enough) or told me I could return the everything. Customer service... You're doing it wrong. We just took pictures there today for the first time, and I'll never go back. Three people were at the front desk when we arrived, and they all just stared at us while continuing their own conversations (no "Welcome to Portrait Innovations!" "How can I help you?" or "Do you have an appointment?") -- not a big deal, honestly (I'm not high-maintenance), but also not the best sign of things to come... Sure enough, we arrived on time with our four children (8, 5, 2, and 3 months) and waited about 20 minutes before getting into a studio room. Again, not a big deal on its own, but... our photographer was ridiculous. I suspect we had the same guy as Jenn J. He was NOT professional: rushed our kids (which upset our 2-year-old, almost causing us to not get a picture of her) and then PLAYED ON HIS SMART PHONE (texting, finding map locations, browsing photos, etc. -- I watched) while "working" to walk us through selecting our pictures on their computer. He never explained the prices or packages and did an awful job answering my questions. He rushed through our selections, and twice I had him click back a few steps to fix his mistakes as he was trying to finalize my order (for things I hadn't even selected!). He was visibly annoyed with my taking my time and making him fix things, but I didn't care. The one star I did give was because my pictures actually came out OK! My son and I had a 5:50 appointment on Sunday Dec. 8. We arrived in the parking loT about 30 mins early I then noticed the parkIng lot was full and looking inside the studio the place was so packed people were standing outside the door. So I decide to go in at 5:45 to check in I then wait at the counter for 15 mins before anyone acknowledges that I'm there. I ask about the wait and all I got was we are way behind you can reschedule or stay. I decide to stay because my toddler was sleep so by time he woke from nap it would be time to take pictures! The place was disgusting it was trash everywhere no toilet paper or paper towels in the bathroom, food and soda bottles all over thE floor everything was just disgusting. None of the associates came to give us any updates on wait time. Long story short from a 5:50 appointment my son and I didnt take pictures until 9:45 and still had to wait a hour to review by time I got out of there it was 11:20pm!! Almost 6 FREAKING HOURS! Nothing was offered for the wait at all! For the service received the prices are extremely to high. I will not recommend this place at all and I will not be bringing my money here ever again!!! read more

Every time a terrible experience because I don't get in until an hour or more after my scheduled appointment. My kids are grumpy and unwilling to take a good picture by then. Awful customer service! We had an appt scheduled and still waited over 30 minutes. The kicker our photographer checked us in, told us to wait a few minutes for a photographer to be available, and then sat in the lobby on his phone. 30 min later same guy stood up and declared he was ready for us. With 2 toddlers and 1 infant our time frame of happiness was limited. Needless to say we left and will never return. Shame on you! I've been to this place a couple times a few years ago and never have i experienced what i did this past Saturday i will never come back idc how cheap the prices get fire the whole staff and find ones who actually want to photograph families with infants or toddlers . We arrived to a room full of families with newborns picking out their photos or waiting to be called which was fine but to hear a few staff rushing families or telling them come back when they know what photos they want is ridiculous or saying whew i need a break walking away from families my appt was at 3:50 we arrived at 3:00 and got called at 3:20 we walked to the room where we would start photographs my 1 year old just woke up from her nap needed a few mins to get settled like most kids and the photographer says just come back another day she's just not gonna cooperate while another photographer says I'll give u a few mins ima go finish up my last few people just wait in here we said okay fine so then the other photographer comes back and says have u figured out a day to come back meanwhile she didn't attempt to engage with my daughter to get her warmed up like past photographers i understand everyone has rough days at work but sweetie needs to find another job maybe fast food read more

I visited this weekend to have my 17 month old daughters pictures done. I had a 340 appointment, to which I was running behind for I called and was told if I was going to be more than 10 minutes I would need to reschedule. Me and my family walked in the door at 346 and was told we won't be seen today. My fiancé said we did call and the young lady Lindsey said I don't care what you did we aren't gonna see y'all, in a very rude unprofessional and nasty way. She continued to be very rude when I went to grab my phone thinking I was going to show her I called she stated I don't care to see your phone. I then asked if they had any openings the following day seeing I was late for my actual appointment and I understood seeing I work in the medical field. She stated they didn't and I asked are you opened Monday or Tuesday and she said no I said I figured due to the holidays. She then got rude again by saying yeah we get to see our families too and we don't have anything until next weekend, to which I said sure and scheduled for the following Saturday. While packing up I went online to schedule an appointment at maybe the other location earlier when I saw six available appointments for the next day to which Lindsey had stated they didn't have. I brought it to the manager Sheryl's attention and also let her know how rude and unprofessional her employee was being. She didn't say much but she was sitting there observing the whole situation and never stepped in and said I heard everything I was on my lunch. Sheryl then stated yes they did have availability the following day but they would see us that day instead of having us come back but there may be a bit of a wait and I instantly said thank you so much and I would wait for as long as needed. Immediately as I entered the first photo room with my family the employee Lindsey walked by and said no I'm using this room in a minute so y'all are gonna have to get out. The photographer hurried up and took the best pictures she could my daughter wasn't quite ready and I think she could sense my upset demeanor. We moved on and finished up in another room then sat and looked at our pictures. Shana another employee sat with me and my family as we chose our pictures and made everything the way we wanted, she was the only enjoyable experience I had by this point and we had been there for over three hours. We then sat by the door and waited for our pictures to print, about 30 minutes later Lindsey went into the printing room and was laughing and cursing she came out and stated she had to fix the printer and they would be done soon. About 30 minutes later again she had printed out three other families pictures whom were there after us and finally printed ours last. At this point I just wanted to leave after spending over a hundred dollars on pictures that my daughter wasn't even happy in. She called out my last name to which she was saying incorrect and she said it again louder and my fiancé said my last name correctly. She then says I don't care how you say it here take your pictures and we will call you when your canvas comes in. I have never been treated or spoken to so negatively and rude by any person in a professional environment like that before. I looked forward to using this studio as my daughter continued to grow, but unfortunately I will never return to this location due to the unprofessionalism that many employees in that studio exhibit. The only reason I gave a star is because it's the lowest I could go. My wife and I went in to have maternity photos taken. We had an appointment and everything. They saw us 15 minutes after our appointment time, and we showed up 15 min early. Then, they told us that the pictures after the outfit change would be better so she only took a couple in our first outfit. Then we changed and it took no more than three minutes. We told the lady that it was a maternity shoot and my 8 month pregnant wife would be in a tube top. When we returned from changing, there was a baby in the room we were in. As my wife stood there damn near naked, they kept rolling with the baby shoot. They even switched the bedding and everything while my wife stood there in the open. When we asked for a manager, we were told that the woman that was doing all of this was the manager. I feel like this place was way overpacked, customer service was horrible, making appointments is absolutely pointless because they will take the walk-ins like its a first come, first serve basis, and the horrible customer service starts from the manager and rolls downhill. This place has really gone down. Had an appointment at 3:50 PM, didn't get photos taken until 6:00 pm. The wait to review them took another hour. After all that time, then they told me the printer was broken. If they would of mentioned that to me when we checked in, I would of canceled my photo shoot. I go there for the convenience of having your pictures printied on the spot. I can't believe they didn't even offer any type of apology or accommodations for the inconvenience. Four days later, we go to pick up pictures and the smudge on one of the children's arm was still there even after we pointed it out during the proof review. So we were even more inconvenienced to waited for reprints. Not sure what has happened to this place, it used to be great. I want to add that live 45 minutes away from this place and pass many other studios. I might as well of went to another one, I'm sure my experience would of been much better! Never again.
