This was the worse experience ever.. to start off our appointment was at 540 which we arrived on time for... we sat for an hour and 15 mins before we could take pictures.. then after we go to start posing for the pictures, there was Bbq sauce on the seat from a previous family that I sat in and it got all over my jeans. After all of the pictures were taken we sat down to view the ones we wanted and didn't want, the manager began to get very angry after she saw that we were not going to spend 300.00 on 9 poses... I politely asked her about the promotion and she stated that we discussed that in the beginning.. Brooke was very rude, impatient and angry when she saw that we were not spending what she wanted us to.. this was suppose to be a moment captured with my family and it was a nightmare.. My time at Portrait Innovations was absolutely amazing. Brooke was a jewel!!! Magnolia loved her! She was super sweet and patient.. I was even able to bring my own props. They had great props too! The first few times we went into this place, we had a photographer named Abby and she was WONDERFUL - talented, friendly, helpful. Since she left, we've been back twice and this place is now terrible. The set-up is great but the actual implementation was a complete failure. Our photos look like we took them ourselves at home with a sheet behind us. The lighting is terrible - shadows on our faces and glares in the background. They "fixed" them with their software but there were really no improvements. When we spoke up that we didn't like the lighting, our new photographer repeatedly insisted that it wasn't bad lighting and the photos were just "intimate." She insisted that we just weren't used to the background, even though we'd had the same background with Abby and loved it. We will not be going back. Had they said "let's schedule another session" instead of saying our photos were fine, we would be having a different conversation. Something about having your intelligence insulted does not make me want to return. read more

My husband and I wanted to get some post wedding pictures taken since we did the court house thing and didn't have any dressy couple photos. After calling around to various photographers, We found portrait innovations here in Southaven MS. They took walk-ins and we could get our pictures the same day. The location can be hard to miss as well as finding the front door but it is next to the motherhood maternity shop. When we entered we were greeted by friendly staff members. The place was empty otherwise and we were the only ones in the place throughout our entire session and later when we went back to pick up our photos. It could have been because of the time, we were there around 10:30 am. Staff says they are busier on weekends. Shan took our photos and set up the props. The studio and the rooms were very nice with lots of color. Shan really enjoyed taking our pictures and she was great at picking poses for us. She took about 60 photos and downloaded them for us to see on the big monitors they have stationed around the room. She went over the details of the photos and the packages, of course we all know how this works with studios pushing package deals starting with the highest. We picked out 25 photos that we liked and since hubby and I are older-past 45, and our families are extremely small, we don't need 50 wallet pictures, 25 5x7's, or a calendar good for 1 yr. With the deluxe package with other extras for upwards if $500.00!!! What we wanted was and I liked was how Shan incorporated 3 photos into one picture like a collage which turned out really neat and is a saver for our limited wall space. Extra 8x10's for both our parents to hang up is really all we need but after much resistance on my part on this company forcing "The Package Deal" and the associate trying to work within the companies unreasonable not to mention lack of customer satisfaction, my hubby (because I had shut down mentally) and now working with the manager (Shan was sick literally) worked on getting the package down to where it was more reasonably priced and to eliminate us having unused pictures sitting around the house collecting dust. We did get some nice pictures and collage set fir us with a hard and soft book to give to our aging parents although because of this so called package that was pushed we still ended up with pictures collecting dust oh and of course a cd that can only be brought back to them. I asked for military discount so make sure you ask. We were able to pick up pictures as planned that day and the photo books are mailed. All in all the associates Laura, Bridgette and Shan were great no complaints with them and I told them so but the company policies with not customizing for the customer and basically forcing packages on them is wrong. So I give the 5 stars to the associates but because this is a company that needs to make some changes, and based on the reviews on another site changes are in order, I give the company 1 star because of the good staff and the speed of getting the pictures were good. Hopefully management will make some changes that are more customer based. read more

Horrible! Our appointment was at 11am and they didn't get to us until 2pm!!! Try waiting that long with a 7 month old. We had a coupon that said everything was 15 bucks but they said that was only one photo and the canvas, so in the end it cost us 86 bucks. Then we had to wait over a week for the canvas to come in. Despite previous visits where I waited 1.5 hrs past my appointment, today was amazing! We had the entire place to ourselves for an hour. The photographer was patient with my 4 y.o. grandson and captured great poses. Our session ended, and I picked out poses in about an hour. read more

TL;DR: Do NOT take your business to ANY Portrait Innovations. The company's protocol is infuriating and ridiculous. It makes having a pleasant experience impossible. Not to mention your photos will be completely generic and overpriced I read all the other horrible reviews, but decided to give Portrait Innovations a chance anyway since the holiday rush was over. This was a huge mistake. My goal was to get individual pictures of my 2 year old son and a few group pictures including his father and myself. I even called ahead days ahead and asked what their prices were. Of course I did not get an answer. However, we did not have a long wait, and the employees were nice. It is the company itself and their "protocols" that made the entire experience horrendous. Everything was going fine until halfway through. My son melted down because he didn't want to pose the way the photographer wanted him to. We had already taken 30 pictures and I was satisfied with just ending the session. Unfortunately, at Portrait Innovations it is all or nothing. The photographer MUST take all 60 pictures for you to buy any of them. Our photographer refused to continue taking pictures until my son was posed exactly how she needed him to because of "protocol". It took over 45 minutes for her to take ONE picture because of this. Throughout this 45 minute stand still she kept reiterating how WE were taking to long to get the session done, and how we had the option of coming back another day instead. We came from over 70 miles away, so there was no way in hell we were coming back. When we asked if we could just choose from the pictures we had already taken, or change our son's pose or props so he was comfortable, or for her to just take the picture she said no because of "protocol". Our photographer claimed that at the end of the day all our photos would be deleted, to trick us into thinking this was our only chance to get prints. However, at the end of the session we received a CD that contained all 60 pictures as low resolution .jpg files, and Portrait Innovations' own file format (.PI2) that only they can open. Buying prints of the 23 pictures we were forced to originally pick totaled over $300. I only wanted prints of 4 pictures which was $80. When I let our photographer know this she tried to make me change my mind by mentioning all the "free" photo gifts I'd be losing by downgrading our package. I told her directly that I honestly did not care. I definitely learned my lesson. Please learn from mine and others' mistakes and do NOT get your photos taken at any Portrait Innovations. I'm fairly certain they all have horrible customer service due to their ridiculous protocol that they have the audacity to claim is in place for customer satisfaction. read more

I had a terrible experience yesterday at the southaven ms location. My appointment was at 9:50. It was 10:45 before we were told to go into the other room, where we waited for another ten minutes. I had made two appointments on Sunday. One was for pictures for my mom and the other was for pictures for my mother in law. My daughter was wearing a navy dress and the photographer insisted on using the black background. Since they were so far behind they made me combine my sessions and would not listen to what I needed as pictures. No one would give me their name because they knew I was very angry. The girl who was the rudest was short and heavy set with dark hair and wore glasses. I think she was the manager. I have had a terrible experience the last several times I have been to either location in the area. I will not return to either one. I found that I was over charged. There was 30% off. I was told it was only 20%. I was not offered free in store pick up. I didn't want a large package and forced to buying because I couldn't get the 29.99 option without. All I wanted was a few poses and a Cd to be upload the pictures to social media read more

If i could leave 0 stars I would. Absolutely horrible experience. I wanted to do the 19.99 one pose package they are offering. My daughter is 2 and melted down halfway through the session. I was not bothered by this and just mentioned that we could choose a photo from one of the ones already taken. Brooke informed me this was not possible, my daughter MUST complete the entire 60 pics. This simply was not happening. She suggested we reschedule. NO. I am a paying customer. If I say I am comfortable with the photos taken, that should be the end of it. Brooke was extremely rude about the entire situation and refused to work with me. I requested her superiors name and number and was told that she could not give me that info. After leaving frustrated and without any photos I called the collierville store and was given the information I had requested from Brooke. Once in contact with with customer service, I was not happy to learn that they felt Brooke being as rude and as unhelpful as she was did not concern them in the least. The workers at this location are super nice but this company's policies are AWFUL. My husband and I took my 1yr old daughter in for some birthday pictures, our appointment was at 1210, we got there a little before 12 and wasn't taken into a studio until 130. After taking the pictures the photographer has to take you to a TV monitor/computer to show your pictures so if all photographers are showing pictures then all the people and appointments start to back up and run behind. There should be 2 separate jobs, photographers and presenter, to keep things moving along. We start taking pictures and changing backgrounds/props, posing my daughter and after a we she starts to get fussy and starts crying (as babies do) I mentioned we had enough pictures at this point so we could stop but the photographer says "you have to take a minimum of 90 pictures before we can take the memory card out and upload them for you" we were only at 40 pictures at that point. She sad because we'd waited so long she'd let us stop at 60. Well my daughter wasn't having any more of it so basically the last few are of her mad, crying or me and my husband holding her, which is a total mess because we didn't dress for pictures, they were my daughter's birthday pictures. They of course went through the "packages" spill and all these great tings we could get. In the end we spent $300 which is COMPLETELY RIDICULOUS. Terrible. The one in southaven kept taking walk ins. They were already behind on their appointments. Plus they had no curtain to draw while you took your pics. So you were on full display to the waiting customers. Terrible management! !!!! read more

you must be 21 to read this review. We arrived at our appointed time with our grandchildren all dressed in white for the foto. This would be our 8th visit to this location. First the employees including the manager were very disinterested in our visit - seemed like we were doing them a favor. When the manager was getting ready to take the foto she told my wife that there would be 6 or 7 backdrops. My wife kindly said we only wanted a certain one and would not buy any other fotos. Wrong said the manager - you are getting 6 backdrops. Then the manager dropped the bomb. "Do you have the parents permission to have the children photographed?" This of course was the first we heard of this policy -none of the calls to remind us had mentioned it. So there we were with two clean and dressed kids for an appointment that took us two weeks to coordinate and we did not know of or have the permission. When I asked if I could go get it right then I was told no - there was another appointment in 30 minutes. So - there was no other customer there (and I know why now), three or four employees standing around, and one customer in 30 minutes would take all of them. I then asked for the form to use - no form - just write something on a piece of paper. At that point I told the manager - who was not very friendly, not helpful - that as the paying customer it would have been better to have been informed ahead of time. No apology offered, just a blank stare. I guess she did not understand the term that I was paying her to take the fotos and thought maybe she was doing me a favor. So we rescheduled for the next day and left without saying all the things we felt. Later that day we decided there was no way we were returning to the studio. When I called back and told the manager we were cancelling she hung up on me. Very fitting response. Please do not use this studio! read more

This place was horrible. Made an appointment online for my 18-month-old's Christmas pictures 2 weeks ahead of time. I got there on time and as soon as I opened the door I was mortified. The place was packed wall to wall. There was only standing room available and there was not much of that left. Once I got over the initial shock of all the people I walked to the counter and informed the woman standing there I was here for a 3:50 appointment. She asked me to hold on and answered a phone call. Five minutes later she asked me my name and to have a seat and they would call me when they were ready. I told her I had an appointment and wanted to know how long it would be before I would be seen She said she couldn't give me a time but that I did have several people in front of me. I asked why and she said that they had several newborn photo shoots and they had to work around the babies and their feeding. I then became very confused because having a child that has taken pictures before (many times) knows that is not a reason to be so behind. I then informed the woman that I would be canceling the appointment. As I was walking out a woman informed me that she had been waiting for 2 hours before they called her. The only reason I picked this place was for the price and the fact it was close to my house. Big mistake!!!!!! I will go back to my normal place (Lasting Expressions). They are a bit more expensive and a farther drive from my home but they are so worth it. They are super friendly and I have never had to wait when I made an appointment. read more

I only gave it one star (I guess that's the lowest I can go) for several reasons. First of all, we made an appointment for 11 am today (Sunday), two weeks in advance. When we got there, there were about 8 or 9 families in front of us, that still had not had their sessions. I'm assuming there were so many people there due to walk-in customers, because I really hope that no business would over-schedule that way. We walked up to the desk and I let the customer service person know we were there for the appointment, and she informed us that they were running behind, and could we have a seat, which we did. We then sat there for 45 minutes without one person ever saying a word to us. Not "I'm sorry for your wait, it will only be this long." Nothing. Meanwhile, the families that were in there having their pictures made kept taking pictures, going to look at the pictures on the computer screens, going to change their clothes, come back and take more pictures, and returning to the computers. On their website, they stated that your session should take about an hour, and I do understand that on weekends, businesses will be busier. But if that's the case, they should have more people on staff to help customers, and more sitting rooms where they take the pictures. I also went on their website to try to make a complaint there, and there is no section for contacting them at all. After reading the other review of that establishment, I'm glad that we didn't stay only to have tons of expensive packages pushed on us. Absolutely will not be returning there. read more
