I visited the Summit Woods Crossing location in Lee's Summit, Missouri on March 7, 2013. My initial contact by phone was terrible. I called for an exact location of the studio because I was having trouble finding it in the large strip mall where it's located. The manager, Trisha, answered the phone. She was discouraging and down-right rude. She asked if I had an appointment which it didn't. I explained I would just like to drop in and check out the studio and the packages being offered. She said they really didn't have time for that sort of visit. I was puzzled by her statement because the company website clearly welcomed walk-ins but sessions were limited to photographer availability. After a few scoffs, she gave me a vague description of the location. Upon entering the location she continued to be rude. As soon as I walked in and asked for package information, she restated her earlier comment about not having time. At that point another employee took over the conversation. She asked me to ignore the manager because she was having a bad day. This employee, Janelle, was totally different, very nice and knowledgeable about the products. I decided to go ahead with the photo session with Janelle, because I really needed to have the portraits taken. By then, I was so disturbed by the manager's treatment, it showed up all over my pictures. I couldn't even manage a decent smile. I looked tense in all of the shots. Trisha totally ruined the entire session with her poor customer service skills. Even though I wasn't satisfied with the finished product, I felt I needed to go ahead with the transaction because Janelle had taken so much time with me. I paid for the pictures and took them home. I continued to be disturbed about the experience until the next day. After reviewing the pictures, that were quite expensive, I decided they were terrible and not worth my money. I was referred to this business by a friend. She said her son's photos were nice but she reported having a similar interaction with the same manager. I've contacted the corporate office with my concerns and requested a full refund as well as a follow-up from the Regional Manager, Katie. As of today, I still haven't heard from her. Needless to say, I won't be making any referrals to Portrait Innovations and I am expecting my full refund expeditiously. read more

I have a 2 and 4 yr old that can be difficult to cooperate. Our lady did a great job with them and the pictures turned out beautifully!

Well i have had good and bad experience with the one in lees summit mo. They take very good pictures every year. Only bad that i experience was when my family got pictures done today there was a lady with blonde hair who wouldnt give her name was rude to my mom and dad saying we cheat the system because my friend of family gets his family pictures done at same time separate setting and they get the deal every year as well and they live with us but are a separate family. Then when we went to do our pictures she was very snippy and said i need to know exactly what all u want picture wise then she was ruse telling my mom n dad where to sit at so my mom said just get the damn pictures done and she then passed it off to another lady who was very nice and pleasant with us but she told the other lady that took over that she got cussed out. Then while we were looking at our pictures the blonde gal made statement ya look at her face u can see she has the look of just get the pictures over with already. And when my mom went over to help our family friend out with his family pictures the blonde lady made another statement about if their not family then y does she gotta help him. We were also told they weren't going to take our photos which i feel is very unprofessional. Other than thus times experience it was a great place for pictures. However due to this experience i dont think my family will ever be back. read more

RUSH, RUSH, RUSH! My family has used Portrait Innovations in the past and were pleased. Are they artistic? No, but they were always good for the price. Not today. Today we had an absolute horrific experience. Our appointment was at 3:40 and we arrived at 3:30. They tell you to bring a change of outfits and any props. They tell you that they have all these cute backgrounds and props that you can use. Well we got squat. We didn't get going to almost four and after only ten minutes, they were rushing us to get changed into the casual outfits. They told us to "move on". So we changed as quickly as we could and then had to wait another half hour. Again, only about 10 minutes spent on us and I had to ASK to get a different background and if we could get some individual shots of my daughter. Then I had to wait about 40 more minutes to view our photos. Three different associates helped me at this point. They kept changing out and rushing me to make choices. Then, when I got home, I found that some of the prints were NOT the ones I had chosen. It must have gotten mixed up with all the associates changing places. It also took another 30 minutes for my photos to print. AND, the prices had almost doubled since last year. Plus, the pictures are just okay. Some I don't like at all. It was all rush, rush, rush. No personal touch at all. I will not be returning and I do not recommend them to others. It is worth more to get a one really good picture from a private photographer. read more

Today, we took our son's 3 month pictures! We were a little nervous because you can't control the emotions of a little one. Rachel was so patient and gentle with our kiddo. It was extremely hard to decide which pictures to order. She took her time with us and wasn't trying to push expensive packages. I greatly appreciated her! Most importantly before touching our son, she put hand sanitizer on. I was super impressed! read more

HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!!! I am actually shocked at how rude and unhelpful Riley the manager is at this location. My mother in law took all her grand kids to get photos taken. Very rare that all the kids are home at the same time. After the photos she realized she didn't have enough money for the CD Package. I called the store and asked for a manager to see if I could help her out. I had all intentions of spending whatever it would take to get all the photos. Instead I was told there was nothing they could do and laughed at when asking for the corporate phone number. Not even an option to purchase online. Really? I hope this review saves someone time and money. Spend your money with a company that cares. read more

AVOID THIS PLACE! Negative stars if possible. I came here once before while visiting family and was very pleased with the pictures so I decided to come once again to have my sons 1st birthday pictures taken. The photographer who helped us was very nice and took great photos however was obviously confused on the company shipping policy. When we sat down to go over, and finalize our package we told him we'd like the bigger package which included the 16x20 canvas, 2 photo books, and a wall calendar AND would be shipped to my home in California. After waiting over 2 weeks I received an e-mail telling me my order was ready for pick up at the store.... again, I live out of state so I called and tried to see what the confusion was and see how I could somehow get the pictures I paid A LOT of money for. Trish, the manager answered and from the start was a complete bitch, very defensive, unprofessional, and not apologetic. She told me that there was nothing she could do and that I should've paid the $40+ more for the shipping.. and then pretty much went on to say how the canvas, photo books, and calendar were "free".. NOT we said over $250 for our photos. I will NEVER come here again or even have my family recommend this place to anyone. I've never been so disrespected by a manager in my entire life. AND THEN even after expressing my concern she said I better find someone to pick up the photos and ship them to me themselves. Please what ever you do avoid this place at all costs. Photos are high quality, customer service was poor. Desk clerk wasn't pleasant when she called my home nor was she when we arrived. It appears they over booked sessions as the small waiting area was crowded and the photographer was rushed. He was nice, however, didn't take the time to always ensure details were addressed. (i.e.) ties straight, seated properly for best show of photo. I felt the photographer rushed us through the photo review as well, in part because the lobby was full of waiting families. He didn't take time to ensure we understood what we were considering. He did answer our questions, however, he was rushed. They provide you a disc with photos, however, you're restricted to use them as the printer unless you purchase the full package they offer. They offer some additional items in the package, photo booklet, mug with photo plus a few other items. I will not use this company again. There are many other options. read more

Good pictures, but sales people are high pressure, also had to wait 2 hours just to get pictures taken. Which was extremely later than our appointment. read more
