Literally wandering around Trapani while we waited for our lunch restaurant to open, we found ourselves at this gate between the city and the sea. Porta Botteghelle opens to the sea through the walls of Tramontana. The shore here is covered in miles of rotting seaweed but worth it. It is one of the eleven gates on the city walls.
Outside, there used to be a small Jewish cemetery but it has been moved and replaced with a small votive altar.
On a clear day, the water and the view are beautiful.
