The Porsche museum is outstanding architecturally. There's a lot of different race cars and prototype models here and exhibits are spaced out, so it doesn't get too crowded. I think the gift shop is worth checking out, as they have some anniversary items. It's a big museum but you can cover the whole place in an hour or so. The butter pretzel and latte are also good here if you want to check out the cafe. However, if you're choosing between to visit the Porsche or the Mercedes museum in Stuttgart, I would personally visit the Mercedes museum as it has more history. Both are easily accessible by train.

A visit that was long overdue. We got here on a Thursday around 2:30. Plan on at least 1.5 to 2 hours. Booked an 11:00 am Guided tour way in advance so forgot about the time. Luckily there was another tour at 3 so we were able to join which was fantastic. Our tour guide, Laura, was amazing! You get many more insights and back stories (I.e the 911 was originally the 901) I'm thinking with a Guided Tour so would recommend and well worth the nominal extra fee. A good size collection which changes regularly so always a reason to return. Cool to see they had a service garage onsite for the collection (given the cars travel occasionally for shows, etc.). No time for the factory tour so that will have to be next time. A decent sized souvenir shop and good coffee at the Cafe. A must stop whether you are an Enthusiast or not. Amazing service throughout. Thank you Marina and Laura! We will be back!

I was not expecting to like this museum so much. I'll probably never own a Porsche, but it was so cool to learn about the history. The audio guide was really easy to use, and some of the exhibits were interactive. I loved the gift shop. It was small but they had some really fun unique things. We bought a Porsche shaped cookie cutter. We hadn't realized that the emblem actually says Stuttgart until learning about it and looking closer in the museum, so we bought a little pin with the emblem as well. I would also recommend their cafe/ cafeteria. They have some cute Porsche shaped treats and you can also get a pretty decent lunch.

    Very unique artwork in front

Number one on the list of to dos in Stuttgart is here. Two hours of examining tons and tons of Porsches going back to as far as the tractor https://youtu.be/sgtdsmFuk_4 and the Lohner-Porsche "Semper Vivus" built in 1900. A lot of historic vehicles, a lot of modern ones. Captions in English and German plus an audio guide that worked very well to provide some additional information. After about two hours, it has all started to blur together. After a while, the 911's start looking alike. There is, of course, a really neat gift shop and I found my fridge magnet. As a tourist who isn't as familiar with car history, performance, and mechanics, I was pleasantly surprised how inspirational this museum was for a layperson! Overall, very well organized space with an abundance of high performance cars on display in three levels above the reception area. Highlights: Time Taken: 2 hours max, 3 hours if you include dining and coffee break Parking - validated upon purchase of entry ticket Admission - affordable and worth it. You receive an audio device and lanyard to learn more about the different cars. Lanyard is for you to take home as a souvenir. Staff: very friendly and professional. Bilingual in German and English, answers all your questions Public/Private Tours: PLEASE NOTE that this requires reservation online months in advance as the new Porsche 911 recently was released, so more people are interested in the factory tours. We've been told you can ask day-of if anyone has cancelled or no-show for Public tours but there are no guarantees. Interactive Experience: I really enjoyed the audio device to explain various cars, and the interactive screens to listen to various Porsche car engines. Great for kids who want to experience the museum not just visually. There was a FREE Porsche racecar simulator that you can experience the various models on. That was very fun for people for all ages. Three of the new model cars were able to be touched and can sit in for pictures. Overall: highly recommend to visit for families, groups, anyone. It's a well-curated museum with clear display of successful race cars that have dominated history!

This museum isn't that big. Definitely do not recommend little kids as there isn't hands on activities. They do have a VR type experience. You can potentially walk through this museum in about an 1.5 hours or less if the crowd is smaller. As soon as you get off the train you are at the museum. This museum does give discounts if you have a day pass for the trains from DB. Did see a birthday party being held. Not sure all the activities that the kids were going to do. There is a restaurant there. Didn't go in as it was full. There are some cool cars but this is a one and done type museum to me.

I typically come too the places for the food. I had a great salad.... Except for the soggy potatoes they add to it. I've learned after coming to this part of the country, they love to put excessive amount of dressing on their salads. I give the food a 5 out of 10. The museum itself was just ok. I've seen more mind blowing Porsches at Porsche week in Pebble beach(CA/USA) We can't here knowing, this would be a "been there, done that" part of our travels. Glad we stopped by.

I could have spent a day here but you can make it through in a few hours depending on what you want to see, read or listen to. They give you a lanyard with a divorce and head phones when you enter. You can enter the number of the exhibit that you are looking at and it will tell you through your headphones the details of the exhibit. You just let them know the language that you require and they give you the proper device. The museum is as well crafted as the cars. You can also rent a Porsche just outside the museum doors to take a tour of Stuttgart ,Germany. If you are a gear head like me or not it is still an enjoyable experience. Also who knew that Porsche made tractors at one time. I won't spoil anything else for you. But this is a "must go" place.

I absolutely love the journey the Porsche museum sends you through when you visit from its begins up until today with its crazy high end racer cars. They did an amazing job telling its story, showing you all they super cool cars created through the years, and it was pretty interactive throughout the whole museum. The tickets were are only 4 euros if you show your public transportation ticket, which is pretty affordable if you ask me for all the cool stuff they show you here! I love the brand even more now :)

A must see in Stuttgart! Only 4EU per person. Long lines. Three types of restaurant inside. Holds the most expensive steakhouse in Stuttgart. Museum holds old and new cars since the beginning of Porsche. Available audio radio for English peeps to understand the history of Porsche from Ferdinand Porsche. The museum is all together , 3 floors. They have a small cafe in the 1st floor and a sit down restaurant. This place is open for kids as well. Kids are like 3 euros I think. Well my brother in law works for Porsche so maybe we got a discount. Stop by and cherish the history of Porsche sports car. Trust!!!

A must see if you're in Stuttgart and love cars! This is a small museum, where you only need about 2 hours to see the whole museum. The tickets are cheap and the complimentary audio device will tell you all about the history of Porche! I love the brand, but this museum didn't blow me away like the BMW and Mercedes museum which is why I am giving this place 4 stars. The restaurants inside are worth visiting! Highly recommend that you check this out if you're in Stuttgart!

Smaller than the Mercedes Benz museum, but brighter are more popping colors. Also has a cafe and a gift shop. I believe the factory is next to it.

I love museums and especially car museums when the earliest designs are only slightly better than walking with an 8kmph top speed! The top is the early vehicles and you walk down to get what resembles a vehicle. Then as you descend, note and note recognizable vehicles. Also, kudos to both, Porsche and Mercedes-Benz for not skipping history (looking at you 30s-40s) regardless of the travesties, it's part of their history. Meanwhile the US is trying to erase their not so stellar histories. But I digress. If you love cars AND history, you could literally spend an entire day looking at the development of various MB cars, busses, engine cutaways, and more. 100% recommend if you're in Stuttgart. Bonus points for a Cars and Coffee event going on during our visit. Love seeing people living older cars and preserving history!

The residence, initially built as a hunting lodge for the Duke of Wuerttemberg, Eberhard Ludwig, in 1704, was expanded upon throughout the first few decades of the 18th century, and, eventually replaced the palace in Stuttgart as the residence of the royal family of Wuerttemberg. It is a gem to behold. There is much to see both around the grounds of the palace and inside the palace itself. Years ago, I had taken a tour of the palace interior, but had forgotten both its beauty and deep history. Some rooms have been preserved in the original baroque style-opulent parquet flooring and gold accented walls-but most other rooms had had their baroque flourish covered up with somewhat demure wall paper and (in my opinion) rather unimaginative wood flooring in later years. The building is surrounded by well-manicured grounds which then bleed out into, sort of, more wild bits and overlap with the Maerchen Park that has become a part of the Bluehendes Barock* experience one undertakes when purchasing an entry ticket to tour the palace grounds only. The Maerchen Park is home to a small variety of anamatronic fairytale figures that are both known and not to non-German audiences. As one attempts to open the gate of the Gingerbread House the witch living inside looks out through her curtains and speaks sinister words to you! At the tower of Rapunzel children cry out, "Rapunzel! Rapunzel! Let your hair down!" And she does! Also housed within the palace is an amazingly extensive ceramics museum charting the rise of pottery in Germany from Bartmann jugs to Meissen tea sets. Unbeknownst to me, Ludwigsburg porcelain was and is of some renown. I'd imagine that Karl Eugen and his ilk were sipping tea out of Ludwigsburger tea cups back in the day... During our look-see of the museum, we were able to spy a, sort of, 'finishing room' where folk were placing unfinished jugs on open shelving units. Ooooh! If one is keen on buying the finished product, then pop on into the ceramics shops also on the palace grounds. A tea cup and saucer might cost you somewhere in the range of 200 euro. *Flowering Baroque: a beautiful garden show within the grounds of the Ludwigsburg Residenzschloss. If a trip to Germany includes parts of the SW, then I would strongly suggest a trip to the palace in Ludwigsburg. Bonus: the first King of Wuerttemberg, Friedrich der Dicke, is the grandfather (x8) of our Boris Johnson, Mayor of London.
