This is a really neat refurbished barn, behind the big house that you see from the street, that still has some original parts, like the exposed timbers throughout. It has two bedrooms: one is up a short spiral staircase (which is where the WC is too), and the other is on the bottom floor. The upper is small, with a beautiful view of the garden. It has a really firm mattress. The lower is quite spacious, with the bed being above a living space containing a couch and table/chairs. This lower room smelled quite musty, and the rest of the downstairs less so.
We are three people who travel with a suitcase and a bag each, and we didn't have quite enough space to put all our belongings without storing them on the floor. Too, the kitchen probably has everything you'll need, and then some. For instance, there is a microwave, but you'll need to find it, pull it out of the cupboard, and clear a counter-space to plug it in, if possible. We didn't try.
The hosts, Lisa, Adam, and Doug the dog, were all very nice. Doug is some kind of small terrier, I suppose, and hung out with us in the garden. He's adorable. Adam was quick to turn down his music so we could sleep (though I wasn't thrilled that I had to get out of bed and go outside to the back of the barn to where they were entertaining at 11:15 pm, to ask. Lisa offered to do a load of laundry, which was quite helpful.
The location is fantastic, being a part of the ancient village of Weston-Subedge. It is cool to walk to the pub (food starts at 6pm) and look at all the old houses, which is pretty much all there is in town. There is an old church too, though we didn't visit. It's a 10 minute drive up Dover Hill to the Tower, and 25 minutes to Stratford-upon-Avon.
Use the drive way on the left side of the house. You'll have to let the hosts know when you want to come and go, as they park there too. read more
