Meet the Business Owner: Corey M.
After I took a beginner beekeeping class in 2017, I knew I wanted to keep bees. I was hooked right away. The gentle buzz of the bees and the smell of honeycomb, honey, pollen, and propolis drew me in. Watching these little creatures work together amazed me. Each bee has a job, and together they make a strong team. What started as a family hobby became a small business in 2020. Every time I visit the bee yard, I feel excited. Time flies, and I forget about my daily worries, even during the hot Georgia summers. There is always something new to learn.
I started with just three colonies, but in three years, my hobby grew to 70 colonies across three apiaries. I realized I was good at beekeeping. Soon, I had more bees than I could manage in my spare time, so I began selling nucs and extra queens. That’s when my hobby became a business, selling bees and extra honey.
