Sooo... I found myself locked out of my house when my Pups managed to wiggle the dead holt into the locked position. Other local locksmiths said they would arrive within 1-2 hours, POP-A-Lock gave me a 10 Min window and said they could get the door open without trouble. They arrived as specified, the gentleman unlocking my door was very polite and professional ... but .... he couldn't get the door opened, ha had to call for back up (who also didn't open the door). Due to being late for work and Pop-a-lock attempting to open my door for 45 min without success. I reached out to my contractor who happened to be working on a home In the area, the contractor came to the house and used sone type of common "contractor key" to the open door. You read that right... Contractor opened the door not pop-a-lock... the ordeal lasting more than an hour from the arrival of the locksmith.... here comes the kicker, Pop-a-lock Charged me for a lock they couldn't open! Customers should beware when using Pop-a-lock, I'm sure they are professional and will show up promptly, but they will charge you regardless of service success. read more

Today I learned that a smart car isn't so smart if you make a bad decision regarding the use of keyless entry. I also discovered that when you have a potential life or death situation involving your beloved canine, there are no real emergency services for them. I made a quick stop to a store and I knew from past experience that so long as the fob was near the car, you can push a door button and unlock it. But I needed to leave my dog in the car with the engine running so she had the AC on and the keyless start needed the fob to stay near the car to keep it running. So. (Sigh) I left them in my car with my dog and locked it. A 2 minute purchase and I returned to the car and pushed the button. NOTHING. I tried again. Nothing. I tried another door. Nope. The hatchback. Denied. And by now my little Chloe Osita Horchata was scratching at the window because she needed her cuddle fix. With no spare fob accessible because, yup my house key was also in the car I almost started to cry and had to fight the urge to break a window. And so I called 911 The operator told me that officers no longer carry anything to unlock a car. I called the dealer I bought my car from in tears, begging for help. They couldn't not help. Both calls said call roadside assistance. Now. I did first consider that, but it's been my experience that that could be a 60-90 minute wait. There was no way I could do that. Then, I called Pop a Lock. I explained the situation and that to me it was a huge emergency and if my car stopped running or if my dog looked like she was in any danger, I would have to break a window. I was told someone would be there in 30 minutes. I looked at the street and all the traffic and I became almost despondent; there was no way they could be there in 30 minutes. Chloe kept crying for me and pawing the windows, it was too hard to watch. I felt so helpless and I was so mad at myself for trusting my car with her life like that. I had to sit out of her sight and hope she settled down. She did. She curled up in her blanket and was fine when I peeked at her. I kept telling myself to be patient. Pop a lock would be cheaper than fixing a busted window. I kept praying for the technical to get there soon. Willing myself to stay calm. My heart sank when the 30 minute mark passed. But I kept waiting, watching the traffic and hoping. And 5 minutes later, my phone rang, the technical was there looking for my car. And shortly after arriving; I had my little Chloe Osita Horchata, happily cuddling in my arms. They saved my most precious baby and there is no price tag for that. To the dog lovers at Pop a Lock who took my emergency situation seriously, I can never thank you enough and if God forbid it happens again-YOU will be my first call. Safety and comfort, is always what I get when I deal with pop a lock. Sadly I think some of them know me by name, because I have to use them so much. Every experience I have had with them though has never been an issue. From 1 o'clock in the afternoon, to 1 o'clock in the morning they are always nice, never make me feel bad, and always help me most importantly get my keys. Technician took well over an hour trying to unlock an interior door and exterior door at our home. He was unsuccessful with both the deadbolt and interior knob lock. He tried everything he had with him in his tool kit but ended up asking for things around the house like rubber bands and paper clips to try to unlock the knob. When I made a joke (to keep from crying at this point) about our 15 year old son learning lock picking with a kit from Amazon, actually asked to see it and used some of the tools from that kit rather than his own! Finally he determined that neither of these locks were actually pickable. Nothing better than wasting all your time and having to cut into the door in order to get it unlocked. Will obviously not use their service again. read more

Called Pop-A-Lock yesterday after our kids locked our interior and exterior basement door. Pop a lock sent out some guy who obviously had never unlocked anything. He couldn't open the interior door, said it was an "un-unlockable" lock. Then he went to the exterior door which was also referred to as "Un-Unlockable". So he was here for an hour and never opened anything. He even asked to use a lock pick kit my son plays with. He called in "Back-up" which never showed. Finally, I asked him to leave. My boyfriend called pop a lock in Lexington to have them help with his car's ignition, which is a service provided by this company. In the process of working on the ignition the technician cracked his dashboard which no longer attach properly. He was instructed that he still had to pay the full price of the service, even though they damaged the car. read more

What can I say--this Pop-A-Lock did exactly what I needed them to do in a timely fashion and for a reasonable price. I was making a quick stop in Lexington on the way back from a work trip when I locked my keys in my car. I was parked in a parking garage on campus and I didn't want to wait next to my car. They took my cell phone number so I could sit down with my brother in a nearby restaurant and wait for the call. The "poppers" came quickly and were in a brightly colored car with a logo on the side--making them instantly recognizable and saving me the embarrassment of wondering up to strangers to see if it was them. I was able to pay with a credit card and they had me on my way. Of course, it's not fun to pay $50 for a simple mistake, but it sure beat a tow or a hotel room or a new key (which would all have cost way more if it came to that). read more

I locked car keys in the car with it running. I called them at 7am and was told it would be 45 minutes. After that time passed I called them back and was told it would be another 20 minutes. At 8:18 am I called them back yet again and was told it was going to be another 15 minutes. For my extended wait time, he knocked $5 off the already high fee. I will not be calling them again. Tonight I locked myself out of my house, a rather stupid thing to do I'm aware. I called my sister but it would have taken her an hour and 15 minutes to arrive. Since it is cold and raining tonight I chose to pay for pop a lock services. I was told a technician would arrive within the half hour. One hour later, at nearly 10pm, I have not seen or heard from anyone so I call. At this point I'm frustrated with both myself and the wait that is twice as long as the quote I was given. I asked the customer representative if there are any discounts offered, he told me no, that the wait time is just an estimate. I have never used pop a lock and had I known this when I had initially called I would have opted to wait for my sister. The customer representative that answered when I first called seemed to rush me through the process and didn't give me the chance to ask the questions I would have liked. As I hung up the phone the second time the technician arrived. By the time I was back in my house it was an hour and 15 minutes after I called, the same amount of time it would have taken my sister to arrive. I was charged $70, which I believe is an extremely high price for a wait that was twice as long as what I had expected. The technician was very nice. He could see I was upset and did his best to be quick, but this did not make up for the rest of the experience. Hopefully I will not be in this situation again, but if I am I will not use Pop a Lock, nor will I recommend their services to anyone I know. read more
