During week of June 15th -20th, 2026 our grandkids mom mentioned looking out or living room window…read moreand saw a gentleman, an employee of Clarksville Gas & Water spending a few minutes some at our main WATER meter box, on our front lawn then shortly thereafter he drove away. That same week, I mentioned to my wife we received our new billing cycle water bill. We noticed in comparing our previous June 4th water bill of $98.14 has now skyrocketed to our NEW pending water bill of $350! I was drawn immediately to the water meter area and noticed a pooling of water in the meter box and storm drainage grass area? Since it was raining off and on last 10 to 15 days, I thought nothing of that water collecting area but since Saturday was DRY I thought out of precaution let me contact the village via CGW after hours emergency number and I spoke to a CGW employee. By around 6:15 p.m. the CGW plumber employee arrived at our house. I did not record his NAME but I am sure they will have it on record, given that my call was a weekend after hours emergency call. The CWG plumber employee looked in the meter box area and quickly determined the leak was NOT on their CGW side of "scope of responsibility". Given that it was a weekend evening by Monday I managed to contact our PRIVATE plumber, David Grose of FREEDOM PLUMBING, for an appointment slot Tuesday afternoon, June 23rd. After bailing all the water out of the meter box and a bit more digging, DAVID discovered that the CGW employee had NOT properly diagnosed the source of the leak (as can be seen in photos and we were also able to capture a very telling video). We immediately contacted CGW and informed them of the findings to be at the CGW meter scope of required repair or replacement. CGW said an employee will be dispatched and should arrive within the next 4 hours. CGW proceeded to remove the OLD leaky meter assembly and notified us that "he does not have that replacement model" on his truck but he will dispatch a "2nd shift CGW person to come out and finish the replacement". CGW employee "Ricky" did arrive shortly thereafter with a replacement hardware and was successful in a matter of just a few minutes. My only regret is that most rating reviews do not range from zero to plus 10 stars. David Grose of FREEDOM Plumbing would be given the 10 stars and the employee plumber from CGW (Clarksville Gas & Water) would have a ZERO ratings, given his misdiagnosing so quickly and so incorrectly.
