This place is an absolute must for Winnie the Pooh fans. It positively drips with history, dating from the 1690s.
It has a resonance with the books, being located in the same village where A.A. Milne wrote the stories. Living a mile away, Christopher Milne used to come to the shop to buy candy
Today, it houses the world's largest selection of Winnie the Pooh products, ranging from souvenirs, books and boxed sets, tapes & CDs, videos & DVDs, greeting cards, postcards, posters and prints, gift wrap, stationery, stickers, games, soft toys, cross stitch, mugs, Border Fine Arts, Disney ornaments, Royal Doulton and Spode china collectables, Royal Selangor pewter and more!
Winnie the Pooh's rights may now belong to Disney, who have added the red waistcoat but for me, a visit to this sleepy village of Hartfield and Ashdown Forest, where the stories were set, brings to mind those classic E.H. Shepherd drawings of that bear of small brain and his friends
Of course, for the true Pooh fan, the essential purchase at this shop is the Pooh map of Ashdown Forest so you can walk round to find those special places in the books - the North Pole, 100 Acre Wood etc
A must for any Winnie the Pooh fan!! read more
