Nestled in next to an express version of one of Britain's largest supermarkets (I think you know what I mean) it is a fantastic relief to find a place like Mezzaluna. With it's menu filled with gorgeous and tasty food which would compliment any evening meal, the restaurant also serves up daily pannini and other items for those of you looking to have breakfast out of the house or for a little treat at brunch. The décor of the restaurant is beautiful and a perfect compliment to the delightful served. The bar is also well stocked and is a very welcome addition to the restaurant, and brings some style and individuality to this little corner of West Street.

The menu ranges from your usual English favourites like burgers, steak and Sunday roasts, but their more European options are worth checking out! Plus, their pizza is fantastic! And I don't say this lightly, but I have given up with pizzahut because of this place. Nice Italian flat base and you can get a 14 inch takeout for £6.00 at the moment! Anyway, I've always loved the atmosphere in mezzaluna, it's a family run local cafe and the owners are always great to sit and have a chat with. Sold?

However, little was I to know that my mouth and belly were both in for such a treat. We had the Cardamom tea (not strong enough for my liking) and mixed mezze to share, which was mouth wateringly delicious. Even the salad dressing was taste bud tingling, absolutely loved it. Between us we then went for Lamb Shawarma and Tourshana. I couldn't fault the lamb. Succulent and tasty to the end. Then came dessert, oh sweet dessert. Mahalabi and Baklava between us. We were very satisfied customers. Lebanese food definitely agrees with my mouth and belly. The owner/waiter was courteous and easy to chat to, throughout. He used to be an engineer and when the recession hit he set up Afendi. If his engineering is as good as his cooking I'd like to see some of his feats of engineering! Loved the Afendi logo, unfortunately the mugs aren't for sale!

Unfortunately Afendi is not as good but is also not as bad as others I have tried. We got a take away from there, we got babaganoush (SP) which was very nice, lovely flat breads, chicken wings which were ok, I didn't like the spicy sausages, they were too "clovey" for me but the mixed grill was really nice, the meat was well cooked and not dry as so often it can be, the tabboleh (SP) was also good. In all I would say that it was a nice dinner and I will definitely be using them again but unfortunatley for this place I have had the don of lebanese and I wonder if I'll ever find a place to compare.

There's quite a few traditionally cooked meals prepared in tajines, but I always rock up and order the same thing. It's lamb and prunes with couscous all the way! I love this dish, and wish I could perfect the recipe at home, but until I do, I am bound to this place, because no-one else makes it better. I rarely spend more than a tenner when I come here. There's stiff competition amongst quite a few restaurants in the immediate area, which is great for the eater, even if it means that none of the restaurateurs in Easton are likely to be able to afford to retire early. But you could always leave a larger tip than usual if your conscience gets the better of you!

Good lamb dishes, as you would expect from a Moroccan place - all spicy and tender. Not just about the meat though, with plenty of choice for vegetarians as well. Plenty of puddings to tempt you but no alcohol as this place is BYO. If you're not from the area what really makes it worth a trip out here are the prices. You won't pay more than a tenner for any of the mains, and usually quite a bit less. So as well being able to try something a bit different you can do it without splashing out, splendid.

The reason for his success is obvious: the food is simple, delicious and comes in either big or really big portions. I still personally rue the loss of the fulle madamas from the menu, but the might falafel (with all the sauces) provides a worthy substitute and gives you all the energy you need to run the gauntlet that is the city centre's bars and clubs. Oh, and there's plenty of chilli sauce on hand for those are seeking a healthy kebab alternative. Fast food is dead - long live the King!

Sure, they are not as mealy or spiced as one might like it but it is fresh fried to perfection every time. Plenty of salad( "those girls do know how to stuff a pitta") and as much as you want of tahini, garlic mayo, mango pickle and chilli sauce. I just wished I knew how good falafels were when drunk as a student- I would have eaten way fewer kebabs!
