There were many paintings by Dr. Seuss. Some included the work sheets of his rough artwork, handwriting and page numbers for the book. Other art was from local artists and others, and includes oils, large wood animal sculptures, and the owner's own bronze sculptures. Some fun eclectic art was for sale, too, like fish made from maybe tissue paper. Wish I'd taken a picture of them--so unique. If interested in a piece the owner may negotiate pricing. Doesn't hurt to ask.

While I enjoyed the unique aesthetics of each art gallery before, this one was quite frankly bland, and had more of a "smug" aroma to it. But the worst part of my experience was not the repetitive or bland art, or the lack of culture here, but the horrible receptionist (or whoever he might have been) at the front desk. As I explored the art in the building, a group of young men had just walked in. They began to wipe their shoes, but all had smiles on their faces, and I noticed that they had also respectfully put away their phones upon entrance. The man at the desk must have not known I was there until I left in a hurry, but as the teens ventured into the establishment he not only insulted them, but used disrespectful profanity while addressing them. Of all places, I would assume that respect would be the most important aspect of an art gallery, but clearly the man running this facility had none. He cursed at these young men upon entrance like an ill-behaved child. If I had been the mother of any of these young men I would have slapped this man across the face and called for someone of higher standing in the art gallery. His childish actions made the art embarrassing and the gallery uncomfortable. If you would like to enjoy the fine art of park city, do not visit Rich Haines Gallery.

I bought some pictures here a while ago and they have a wonderful ability to stay fresh looking even after many years. Mangelsen's photos are a great way to add timeless color to any room. They are expensive though, expect to spend a few thousand dollars for some of the larger ones. Smaller pictures are more reasonably priced.

Although David wasn't there at the time, Joel was extremely pleasant and knowledgeable about the different methods that the different pieces of art in the gallery are made with. They have lots of unique things, such as pictures that are printed with multiple layers of ink. If you were looking for artwork for your home or office, they have a lot of calming images for all interests in nature. My favorite was this large acrylic three part piece of a pier in Florida.

The thing that will likely grab your attention first is the metal sculptures: Medal "snow bugs", a guitar made out of repurposed medal, and (my personal fave) they "Captain Babe Ruth" with a baseball bat as a pegleg and adorned with a Jack Sparrowesque hat. To compliment the metalworks, you'll find colorful pottery, whimsical "out of the bowl" dancing food (yeah, it's hard to explain), kalimbas (African thumb pianos) and other wooden instruments, mugs, photography, and Will Bullas' humorous animal-based art. It's all a bit pricey, but you'll probably find it hard to leave Artworks Park City without something. I know I couldn't.
