While venturing out in Evansville, we happened upon Poke River and decided to give it a try. There's ample parking. The interior is spacious and clean with ample seating. We were greeted by one of their staff who was also taking orders at the counter. The food offerings were ramen, udon, poke bowls, and sushi. The sushi chef was on the opposite end of the counter and rolling sushi. Being accustomed to cubed raw fish that is flavored for poke bowls, the spicy poke options appeared to be ground up fish which I guess is a mainland thing at some restaurants. I ended up ordering beef ramen. The order was brought to our table and dug into it. The broth was flavorful and not overly salty. The noodles were Al dente and there were a few pieces of tender beef along with bamboo shoots and half a hard boiled egg. The meal was tasty and filling. As it was approaching lunch time, other customers entered the restaurant. We found the staff to be quite friendly and polite and experienced good service by the waitress who brought our order out to us. The food was quite good and filled my appetite. I had a marinaded tuna bowl with everything on it. I liked the Yuma sauce (lemon). We were spaced out for Covid, but eating in wasn't a problem. I liked the food , and I'm telling y'all about it. HOWEVER, my boyfriend and I did try a steak hibachi bowl we shared that was pretty difficult to beat. Mushrooms were not mentioned in the listing so we didn't know to ask for it without them, so even though we were picking them out throughout the meal, we were still happy.
