Telephone booth with a book exchange inside
    Kimberly N.

My family recently took an RV trip from Florida to Maine and back, and this was the first KOA we stayed at. It was clean and well cared for. The kids loved the playground, and there was a red telephone booth that had a book exchange inside. This was a really nice place to stay.

I just can't say enough nice things about this super cute campground. I've camped forever, but never been to a KOA. It was lovely. I think it was a bit more like glamping. It was my first time doing that as well. And it was so much fun! My husband and I shared a camp site with some friends of ours. The pad was spacious and lined with rubber mulch. There is a picnic table as well as a long corner bench and extra table. There is plenty of room to set everything out. They have a swimming pool that is super cute. They have a store, bar, pizza joint combo that serves local beers and wines. They have daily wine and beer tastings. The staff is super happy and friendly. The bathrooms are clean. There is a small pond close by that you can walk around or fish there. What more could you ask for!

This is only our third KOA stay with our new travel trailer, but by far the best one!! From the layout/sites to the cute decor to the pizza, beer, and wine available (inside the office/store area or the food can be delivered to your site!) to the cute pool to the nice clean bathrooms and last but not least the VERY friendly very helpful staff...I can't say enough! We only stayed overnight on our way home, but plan to go back to stay there longer in order to explore the places near it: Charleston, Hilton Head, and Beaufort. We love this KOA!

This is a great campground, everything exceeded our expectations. The ONLY issue we have are the people in the next cabin had a little yippy dog barking at 6am on. So much for sleeping in. But don't let this deter you, the office staff said no matter how early/late it is to please contact them so it can be put to a stop right away.

This was our third time staying at the KOA, the last time was in 2014 and we stayed in one of the cabins. This time we stayed in the Kaboose and it was a neat experience. It was clean and easy to get into. The only negative thing I have to say about my stay was the safety lights on the ramp are very bright and lights up the interior of the Kaboose.

What a joy! We are tent campers who only live about 45 minutes away, we wanted to get away for a quick night and found this place online. It was perfect! Clean, great tent sites, all the amenities one could want! They also had a coffee bar, pizza shop and .... WINE BAR! The staff was so friendly and a pleasure to talk with! Mike and Jersey Girl are the best!!!

This little KOA is so clean, quiet and relaxing. Check in was easy with Kate who was so sweet! They escort you to your camping site .....Ally was our escort and she was very nice. They have a pizzeria on site with pizza and wings and they even deliver. They have a nice pool, life size chess board, corm hole and playground for the kids. This KOA is definitely worth the stop if you're in the area. Thanks Kate and Ally for such hospitality.

The driftwood structures aren't just visually interesting--they create natural leading lines, foreground framing, and layered depth that elevate otherwise standard coastal shots. At sunrise, when you get low-angle light cutting across the textures, it turns into a high-yield shooting window. This is where you can separate your work from typical "flat beach" imagery. The wildlife density is solid and consistent. Wading birds--egrets, herons, ibis--are active along the marsh edges and tidal pools, especially during falling tide. You can realistically work behavior (feeding, flight, interaction) rather than just static portraits. The maritime forest adds another layer with deer that are relatively tolerant of quiet movement, giving you opportunities for cleaner environmental compositions instead of tight, compressed shots. Lighting conditions are a major advantage. You've got: * Sunrise over the Atlantic clean directional light for beach/driftwood work * Golden hour in the marsh warm side light with reflective water surfaces * Fog/mist mornings soft, diffused conditions that simplify backgrounds From a technical standpoint, longer glass (600mm + extender like you run) is ideal for bird work, but you'll want something in the 24-105 range as well--the environment here is strong enough to justify wider compositions, especially when you can integrate wildlife into the scene. Accessibility is another win. You don't have to hike miles to get into productive zones, which means more time shooting and less time moving gear. That matters when you're trying to maximize short light windows. Bottom line: this is a portfolio-building location, not just a casual stop. If you time tides and light correctly, you can walk away with both strong wildlife captures and high-end environmental compositions in a single session.
