The Bowls Club is an excellent place to go, even if you don't play bowls, although barefoot bowls is abailable for $10. The food is good, the price is right and the drinks are at club prices, so who could complain about that? There's plenty of room to sit inside or outside, there used to be more space before the dreaded pokies, but there it is.
If you're on the island and meeting up with a bunch of people for the weekend, the bowls club is a great place to while away a few hours as everyone arrives on various barges and buses on a Friday night (Friday night is hamburger night too). The food is bistro style, so even when it gets really busy, which it does in the holidays, the wait isn't too long, and the serves are huge. Just ignore the carpet. read more
