Dressing up to go to Sunday School/Church rubbed me the wrong way. If I wasn't comfortable in what I wore, my attention to church was nonexistent. This is when I was much younger. Still today I am glad to see Church goers wearing everyday clothing and not necessarily the monkey suit. Anyhow, after talking with the pastor for the second time, I find him very laid back and cool to talk to. In the back of my mind i wondered what could be today's lesson in church? Today's Lesson: The Storm Have you ever had a personal storm in your life? Well today's lesson. Started out with how weather people...no,...meteorologist decided to name storms after women. This was later changed to men an women's name. Some of the names of selected storms have a deeper meaning than others. The lesson in short was to keep hope in what you do, because without hope, you might be battling a storm physically, mentally or both for a long time. I don't go to Church very often, but this place gives off good vibes even if I still don't know many of the people there. My wife says the main reason for being there is God. Anything else is an added bonus. I am not as into the Lord as she is, but I will say this. The music, how I feel then I am there and the history of lessons learned keep me coming back for more. I find it fascinating how things I learned in school, specifically Western/Eastern Civilization and American History had bites and peices of things I am now hearing from The Bible. I am moving at a snail's pace come paired to my wife. Yet I don't believe there is a set speed for religion. If there is, my God will have to have patience. Still, I am on a Journey of self discovery. Who knows what I will discover next week.

The minute I stepped into this church, I felt the difference from other churches in the area I've attended a few months prior. The congregation was very welcoming and Pastor Eddie relayed God's powerful word with such conviction I rededicated my life to Jesus that day. Since then, my family and I hardly miss a service, we come here not only to worship God but also to fellowship with members and new attendees from all walks of life. I love how diverse this church is. The praise and worship team also rocks the stage and sets the mood to receiving Gods grace. One of the reasons I love coming here are the amenities the church provides the congregation. I am still nursing my 15 month old baby and have brought him here since he was 3 weeks old. I've made use of the moms room thats provided for all breastfeeding moms and babies and of course moms with cranky babies who wants a quiet place to hang out and soothe their little ones. It has comfy rockers, a changing table and a 65 inch monitor to watch the service while tending to you precious baby. The moms room is truly designed for mother and baby's comfort. As a mom who always wants to provide my son a clean, comfortable and safe place to feed, the moms room couldn't be any better. This place is a Holy Spirit filled place, you will surely feel Gods presence. It doesn't matter who you are, where you've been, what you've done... everyone is welcome. So come see for yourself.

I'm a longstanding member of The Life in Woodbridge VA…read more In 2001, after returning from a military assignment in Germany with 3 kids, we were looking for a good church home during time of 9/11. We wanted a place where we could develop friendships and where our kids could participate and grow. We found several military & civil service families there, and now 19 years later we are watching our kids go off into the military, graduate college, and go to college, etc. For me, church hopping was not in the cards for my family. I wanted my kids to grow up with in one church and have a place to come to where everyone would know their name. My kids received love packages while in college. We have a church family that shows up when we celebrate graduations or other events. We have a church family that joins together to help us if we are sick or if a loved one dies. When I was promoted to into the Senior Executive Service (SES), my church family showed up in large numbers to celebrate with me for the pinning service. I'm so grateful for how my church family surrounded us with love and helped us prepare an honorable funeral service for my 95 year old father in law, a WWII veteran. They also cooked, served food, and they cleaned up after the repast. They wouldn't let us lift a finger to help, they proudly and graciously said that it was our time to rest, mourn and be served. There's always something to do in the church, and getting involved helped us meet other people early on. We didn't stand on the sidelines and leave it to chance. I can't tell you how many things we've done as a family but it includes ushering, greeting, drama ministry, dance ministry, choir, deacon ministry, mission trips to Africa, organizing fundraisers, Community Development Corp, media production ministry, vision board and strategic planning, vacation bible school, back to school giveaways, holiday meals, meals for the homeless, marriage ministry, retreats, etc. We are having service online now due to COVID-19. https://thelifedc.org/ If you want and need a family to LOVE on YOU, visit us online and get involved. FBCW's "First Family" is very welcoming and warm from the moment you walk in the door. With a very robust children's ministry, an active teen ministry, military ministry, men's ministry, women's ministry, and small groups for every demographic you could think of, there is a place for you here! The preaching is gospel-centered, the vision for outreach is obvious, and the commitment to the accurate teaching of God's Word is paramount. The sermons are extremely interesting. The Youth group is one of the best I've ever seen, with a student worship band, awesome camps, and a Youth Pastor that the teens love to listen to. Both the Youth and Children's ministers are very well organized, motivational, and centered on the Gospel. This church does a great job welcoming people and making them feel like family. I love that they consider themselves a "Go and Tell" church. Matthew 28:19-20 is the first thing you see in big letters on the wall when you walk in the front door.

When the service ended, the Pastor instructed everyone to come over and "greet" me again because I returned to the church a second time. This made me very very very uncomfortable. Several members came over asking lots of questions and selling me on the greatness of the church. Because it was overwhelming and made me feel uncomfortable, I have not returned to the church. I prefer a more suttle welcome. When I go to church I want to hear the word, fellowship, and then go home. I don't like the personalized "visitor" attention and know that my friends don't either so they would never attend with me. If you want alot of specialized visitor attention on more than one occasion and lots of love, well then this is the place for you. They may do this because the congregation is small [about 10-15 adults] but its more than I am looking for at this time.
