Their chianti classico and syrah were my favorites. I ordered three bottles of each of these to be shipped home. My wife also purchased one of their olive oil based skin products which she really likes.

As a Black woman from the U.S., I faced poor customer service and discrimination. My tour guide, Tomaso, was rude and condescending. First, he ignored me and other people of color in my group by not speaking to us or even giving eye contact at the beginning of the tour. Second, Tomaso told me that I wasn't allowed to record videos as this was the owner's rule and he demanded that I delete any videos from my phone. I felt that he was singling me out and trying to embarrass me. This "policy" was not shared in writing or verbally in advance. Also, I've seen other guests post videos on social media, even days before my visit, which included Tomaso's face. The energy of the tour felt unwelcoming. During the tasting, no one followed up to ask how I was enjoying the wines or if I was interested in purchasing. It felt like the establishment didn't care about my business. Next, the staff said I could take photos with my wine in front of the amazing terrace view, then they refused. The castle shouldn't schedule tastings right before closing if guests will be pushed out. The only reason I didn't leave a one star review is due to a good experience with an outstanding staff member. Sole was very nice and offered me a ride to my car! She's the kind of employee who should be rewarded for going above and beyond and providing wonderful service to guests. Overall, the castle was beautiful, but the tour was dry with no enthusiasm and the service was lacking. Some staff seemed more concerned with showing attention to white guests and heading home than providing a memorable visit for everyone. I envisioned a once-in-a-lifetime experience that would leave me feeling enlightened, supported, and valued. Instead, I felt dismissed, excluded, and disrespected. I will return to Tuscany, but to a different winery that prides themselves on excellent service and fairness for all.

It was great meeting the wine makers, hearing their stories, and drinking their wines. Fabian is very knowledgeable and great with sharing his knowledge of wines, the places you visit, and his knowledgeable of the area. However, we had a lovely tour of the facilities and explanation of the process, practice of biodynamic agriculture, and evolution of the land. After which, we sat down to taste a wide variety of wines, including of course the Chianti Classico, Reservas, and some special blends as well. The most delicious and impressive was their Batár wine, which is a surprising white (Chardonnay & Pinot Blanc) which was smooth and luxurious... difficult to describe but an absolutely delicious and rare flavor! We felt so important, like royalty almost! If memory serves me right, we enjoyed a light plate with fresh salami and cheese. The main course was a meat lasagna that was so delectable. I could not stop eating. Add the wine and we were all happy! All the wines were tasty and we purchased a couple of bottles of local Chianti that never made it home from Italy with us. Americans see Chianti wine as being crappy or in big wicker-wrapped jug bottles but that's not the case in Italy. Chianti wines are amazingly good and reasonably priced. The family-run vineyard and tasting room had a nice set-up and everyone was super friendly. They even had a sampling of the olive oil that is made from the olive trees on site. The photographic opportunities are good here as well; their stone building and grounds are gorgeous. Worth a stop if you are on the road and happen to pass by!

Unfortunately, we got to the vineyard after sunset so we did not get to enjoy the scenery nor check out their grapes and vineyard. For the wine tasting and dinner, the wine and pairing food is excellent. We got a brief introduction of Italian wines, grapes, DOC and DOCG quality control. For welcome and aperitif, we had Pinot grigio. It is slight sweet, light, fruity and refreshing. Cheese and aged meat plates were served with their balsamic oil, olive oil with chilly and truffle, paired with Rosa Rosae 2015. Rosa Rosae is dry, more tannic than their Pinot Grigio, fruity taste. Pasta dish was paired with Chianti Classico 2015. Pasta was very al dente. Chianti classico is dry, medium bodied, tannic. I don't know much about wine but everyone at my table seemed to enjoy it. Pig carre cooked with desert wine and salad with their olive oil paired with Chianti Classico Riserva 2015. I generally don't like pork but this is cooked perfectly and not gamy. As far as pork goes, it is pretty tasty. By this time, we were all tipsy and happy... so everything was great! For desert, we had cantuccinni paired with Vin Santo del Chianti Classico. We dipped cantuccini (biscotti) in the sweet wine. It was delicious! Overall, everyone in our group enjoyed the dinner and wine. The food and wine portion was very generous! My husband and I had the most amazing trip to Tenuta del Palagio last week! The wine tour started…read morewith an in-depth class on wine and the wine making process and was followed by a 5 course meal which included several delicious cheeses and preserves, bruschetta with different spreads, lemon AND truffle olive oil made at the winery, a large plate of different meats, ravioli with pesto, a few slices of roasted pork with roasted potatoes, and tiramisu. All of it was INCREDIBLE! This meal was served with 10 different wines and at the end we got to try their grappa and limoncello. We bought so many bottles of wine, limoncello, and grappa to take home - they were all so wonderful. Simone and Manuela were both so extremely helpful in assisting us with transportation from the historic district and very communicative during the booking process. You can tell they are passionate about their craft! I definitely recommend this for couples, families, and any large group looking to have a relaxing and fun time in Tuscany!
