I recently had the pleasure (and by pleasure, I mean mild confusion mixed with disappointment) of dining at Podnuhs, where I ordered what was boldly labeled a "large BBQ meat sandwich." Now, when I hear "large," I picture something requiring two hands and a strategy. What I received instead was a bun that looked like it had commitment issues--definitely not large, and barely medium on a good day. When I asked about it, I was informed that they were out of large buns... but were still charging for a large sandwich anyway. Bold business move. Visionary, even. But wait--it gets better. Or worse. Definitely worse. This "BBQ" sandwich came with absolutely no BBQ sauce. None. Not on the sandwich, not in the container, not even a lonely packet hiding in the bag like a last-minute apology. The result? Dry meat performing a dramatic escape from the undersized bun with every bite. It was less a sandwich and more a slow-motion landslide. By the end, I wasn't eating BBQ--I was participating in a meat evacuation drill. Needless to say, Podnuhs has officially lost a customer. YUCK !! The brisket tastes like it was cooked days ago and reheated. The potato salad has a weird vinagery taste that should not be there. The beans sit in a heated tray that is crusty all around the edges as if it has been sitting there for days. Actually ALL the sides sit in serve yourself nasty trays. The staff looks like they dont want to be there. As i was starting to eat i was thinking i may get sick if i eat this so i stopped and threw away 90% of the plate. Ordered DoorDash from this location to be delivered at nearby hotel. Once delivered and I opened the warm plate, noticed that the half chicken was very dry and over cooked. I think they could've chosen a better chicken to serve to a customer. The only reason there are two stars is due to the baked beans and potato salad being delish. Today we ordered a family 4-6 meat plate and there was literally barely enough meat for 2 people. The beef was chopped so finely it was literally pieces and there were maybe 5 pieces of ham. This is very disappointing and just not worth the $40 we paid. read more

I stopped going here a few months ago. They give you mostly fat in your sandwiches now. I complained to the lady that said she was the owner and she couldn't have cared less. People that work there are rude and act like you are inconveniencing them by being there but I guess they get that from the owner. We just ate at the location on Splane in West Monroe. We walk to the door to see a sign that asked that we wear mask. Totally respect that rule and more than willing to follow. But as we walk up to the counter to order our food, NOT ONE worker had their mask over their face. They all had masks on but they were pulled below their chin. The food was terrible! Arrived 11/20/20 and ordered through drive through. At window observed cashier had no mask. I then noticed person preparing my food also had no mask or gloves. The drive through was rude, cut me off before I was done ordering, had to reorder, he repeated it back with a side of Baked Beans. Had to pull around to the front to wait on fresh friens which I was told. 15 minutes later only 1 customer infront of me, he brought the order to the car, repeated my meal and said baked beans. I get home and it was Greens. Ive been three times in 3 weeks and all three times either bbq sauce, the gravy on the fries, sulverware or my drink, either I didnt have or had to remind them. Had the opportunity to eat at podiums today. Food was great as usual however, I am concerned that NONE of the servers were wearing a mask. Not that they were on incorrectly, the didnt have them on at all. I doubt I'll be back. This is my favorite place to eat. The brisket is always perfect. The beans are delicious. I don't like potato salad, but I like Podnuh's potato salad. The peach cobbler is amazing. After waiting in the drive-thru behind 4 cars, I was screamed at so loud I couldn't understand the person. So I finally try to order. I was ordering 2 plates. I stated the meat as well as both sides. After a pause, I hear "what 2 sides?" so I repeat the sides. When I indicate my second plate I do it the same way and again "what 2 sides". Pull to the window. Someone else opens the window and repeats my order as a question and advises my total. The young man who originally took my order then opens the window and shoves a bag at me, not saying a word so I ask if that is all as he's shutting he window. He finally opens the window and says "that's all" and shuts the window. No "thank you", "come back" Nothing! Rudest service. I know now why we quit going there. But BBQWest was closed! This was probably the worst place I've eaten at since moving to Monroe. I ordered the chopped pork sandwich, which someone literally slapped meat on and a bun that looked like it was sitting all day. The clerk/server told me to get 2 sides and walked away. As this was my first visit, I had no idea what the sides were, which you would hope to recognize, I was unable to do, so I picked corn, because it actually looked like corn. My partner ordered the 3 meat meal, which looked and tasted like it was yesterday's food. I also witnessed the employees putting fresh potato salad on top of the old salad that had been sitting out for sometime, which is a big no-no in food service. The restaurant was dirty, and servers were beyond rude. The health department should be notified and the resturant inspected. Just tried it again after three years. 3 years ago the food was horrible, got food poisoning and when I called the local headquarters, the owner would not listen to me explain that I had a bad experience at his restaurant. He proceeded to argue with me, called me a liar, and hung up on me. Today, because of others wanting to eat here, I tried it. The food was still horrible. The bathrooms are disgusting. I called my order in and picked it up at the Drive-thru. Before I get into the particulars, I'd like to add that I owned my own restaurant in West Monroe for 5 years so I do tend to critique food when I eat somewhere other than my home. The chicken was good but he ribs were dry and hard on the ends. The frozen turnip greens had no turnips and too much vinegar, and the corn on the cob was under cooked and wasn't sweet like corn should be.
