I sought out Physical Therapy at Tidewater, Pocomoke City, MD, at the recommendation of a friend. I…read morecan sum up my overall experience in one one word: DISAPPOINTING! The rigidity of processing the paperwork (Fax only, no emails, no secure patient portal or communicating in virtual space with the client's physicians) was only the beginning. It delayed the start of my treatment by 3 weeks. Once that hurdle was crossed by getting presctiption from another physician, I was stunned by, in general, a lack of professionalism, and an environment that resembled a Fish Market (e.g., clients and employees shouting across the room, chit chats), lack of privacy, no discussion with the client about the proposed treatment plan after initial assessment -- which ALL raised serious doubts about their overall competence. Having received Physical Therapy at the National Rehab Hospital in Washington DC, and also at the Healthsouth Chesapeake Rehab Hospital in Salisbury, MD, two top notch facilities on the two sides of the Bay, I immediately sensed that this seemingly casual and far from professional business had little, if at all, to offer me in terms of effective treatment. After 2 sessions, I became convinced even more that continuing "treatment" at Tidewater will only be a waste of my time and of my insurance dollars, without assurance of benefits commensurate with the investment. I had planned on returning to HealthSouth; however, my commitments took me back to the Nation's Capital where I could continue with my previous Physical Therapist. If you want effective Physical Therapy, professional treatment, want to get better, looking for a competent business, I wouldn't recommend going to Tidewater. Instead, go to HealthSouth, Salisbury. It is well worth driving the few extra miles. On the other hand, if you are desperate only for socializing, I strongly recommend a trip to the local Wal-Mart or Happy Hour at a bar.
