There are rails and rails of clothes from the 1920s onwards, a men's section on the third floor and oodles of linen, accessories, hats and suitcases. Even old, working sewing machines, buttons and fabulous Vogue patterns from the 1950s. Just when you think you've seen everything, there's another nook or cranny just waiting to be explored. The only heartbreaking thing is that in many cases, the sizes are just too small for most people today. A consequence of changing body shapes, I suppose. But if you are a size 16, then prepare for a long rummage to find something your size. I know, I've been there. But if you look like Christina Hendricks, there's every chance you could leave looking like an extra from Mad Men or like you've walked from the pages of The Best of Everything. Now, the only thing is to find Don Draper.....

I was so shocked when they told me it would be £15 for one ear - I am used to paying £5 for both ears!! Anyway - seems we were there I couldn't help but have a quick nose around. Claire's has changed quite a lot since I was younger as they now stock quite a lot suitable for older 'children' - things like belly bars and quite nice styles of earrings. I also had a quick look at their wedding style bits - they seemed quite cheap in price, so maybe worth a look if your trying to do bridesmaids on a budget! I couldn't help but buy a bracelet and as I was paying I noticed they hadn't changed their old ways of trying to make me buy cheap nasty things at the till! This shop is situated in the Harpur Centre in Bedford. It's worth a look - even if you're not 10!

Impressive caravan, campervan and camping store…read more In the area for a wedding, we were going camping afterwards and we still needed a groundsheet. I googled it and found Jacksons Of Old Arley. My partner was getting a bit worried as we weaved our way through some West Midlands countryside. "Are you sure its this way?" he asks. "Um, yes" I answer sheepishly. We turn a corner and there it is. "Phew" I think to myself. The place is massive. Outside there is a caravan and campervan dealership, I assume is the same people run this business too. Inside the Jacksons warehouse it seems to house everything you could possibly need for the caravan, campervan or camping holiday. Ground sheet sourced, I then find the clothing section and find myself some good bargains. There was sale discounts on lots of great items. They kindly let me use their facilities too, which was welcome :-o Recommended.

I've always wanted a piece from here but was apprehensive because of the prices (I'm just cheap, the pieces are quality and reasonable for the craftsmanship) but mainly because since all of the pieces are custom made to your size, the items need to be shipped. Told myself for years I'd just go to their Los Angeles store but never did. It's so much more special getting a piece here though as the Great Frog originated here. Staff member named Jaws helped me out and was a lovely human being. Approachable and helpful, not pushy but made me feel good about my purchase. Walked me through sizing me for a ring and talked prices and shipping. Also was friendly that we got off topic talking about life and overall just a nice person who made the experience A+. There are plenty of such places in Peterborough, however Sue Ryder Vintage is by far and away the most impressive. Set over two storeys they have everything from vintage fashion (with designer brands not uncommon) to old cameras, retro video games and collectibles from the last century going all the way into antiquities. There is also a large collection of vintage records on offer as well. There is truly something for everyone here whether you are going in simply to browse or have intent to find that one special item. The staff here are all enthusiastic and very knowledgeable. It is nice to visit a vintage store and have passionate people to talk shop with as it were. This definitely adds to the atmosphere of the place which is something that you will definitely want to soak up and enjoy. The icing on the cake for me is that the prices are very reasonable for what is on offer and often, I find things for less than I see them going for on ebay and the like. Whenever I am in town I always pop into Sue Ryder Vintage and I can only recommend that you do too. It is really a place where you can kill a few hours poking your nose into corners and discovering some fantastic bits of history for sale.
