We enjoyed seeing the menu for dinner laid out at the included breakfast so that we could decide which main entree to choose in advance. The server also offered a different dessert option for our son, whom he guessed correctly would prefer just a bowl of icecream to the more complex dessert offered to the adult guests. The fixed price dinner was economical for the area, too. We did not think that the "assigned seating" for hotel guests would appeal to us, but after experiencing it all 3 nights of our stay, we found knowing where to go and what to expect very comforting after a long day of hiking and site-seeing. For those visiting just the restaurant, there may be fewer options than some of the other establishments in Wengen, but you won't regret coming!

His soups are great and everything is just so well paced. Some of the servers have worked here for ten or twelve years. You do have assigned seating but that just means that you get to know your dining partners to the right and left of you. We look forward to our next stay at the Alpenrose and it's fine dining in a casual atmosphere.
