Ordered 3 games. Two came fine, the third came in a case that it looked like a dog chewed. Never again.

Bought this Zelda Switch controller for my daughter's 12th birthday. She barely used it and it cracked at the end of August. I have never seen that happen with any controller. I called and they said, no return, no credit, no repair, no exchange. Thanks for nothing. I will stick with Amazon who will gladly refund or exchange a product that would break that easily. I won't be spending any more money at PNP on my three kids. read more

PNP Games (Past and Present Games) I came upon this store when I was looking for video game stores in Winnipeg and a friend mentioned this one. It became an instant favorite as soon as I entered. The store has a large amount of games and as the name suggests, games from the past as well as current times. It was just fun going through the games as memories surface of your time playing them. Remembering that tough boss fight or how long it took to beat the at game. Even seeing something as simple as games for the NES, Atari 2600, etc. in their original boxes just brought a smile to my face. My girlfriend had a blast too. She spent most of her time playing "The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past" on a system called the Retro Duo I believe, which allows you to play NES and SNES games. I was even able to find a game I was looking for. Although the price was a little higher then expected, I decided to pick it up because I enjoyed the store so much and I would like to see its doors remain opened. You will also find accessories and gear for your systems, old or new, such as Gamepads or cables. Other items you will find are fun merchandise like Nintendo plush toys or Pacman Mints. The employee there was friendly and a joy to talk to. As my girlfriend continue to play games, we talked about the good old days and the store, while listening to 8-bit FM, a online radio station which plays video games music. It was just funny how I was able to pick up the tunes and know almost instantly what game it was from. If you and your gamer friends live in the Winnipeg area, then do yourself and favor, go to this store. You and/or your friends will have a blast sifting through the games old and new. Perhaps you and/or your friends would enjoy relieving the past and pick up a game or two. As I said before, this is my favorite store and I have only been there once. I found out about PNP games a few years ago and was impressed that someone would finally set up not just one but two of these stores in Winnipeg. It's typically been very difficult to find a place with the selection they have. So, the first thing I want to do is say if you're after that VGA cable for your Dreamcast or need a replacement power adaptor for your Game Boy, these people will likely have it. There are a few snags about PNP games however. My first piece of advice would be to never buy any current generation console products from them. Ever. They say that "due to the nature of their products" they can't accept returns, but this is only partially honest. It only passes on software, and even nowadays, this is just an overplayed and tired attempt to stick you with product. It's 2012, you don't need to buy something to pirate it anymore, so this policy is pretty obvious. Regardless, I can respect the no software returns, especially new stuff, they're not in the business of renting. But let's remember that I'm really talking about new hardware. If you pick up a console from them, they won't take it back within a reasonable window, whereas WalMart will. As much as it pains me to give a big chain business - this is PNP Games' failure to compete. Gotta adapt or be left behind and this broad, over-application of policy is what soured me on them for new stuff... The next problem is that they don't source the same quality of product as what you'd expect to find in other stores. If it's cheaper, it's for a reason. My experience was with a black Wiimote and nunchuck combo that I got from them. I knew it was refurbished, but what I wasn't told was necessarily that the refurbished product didn't originate from North American supply chains. The d-pad on the first one I got was suspect and seemed to register a bit off. I exchanged it right away for a second one -- same issue. It also feels cheaper than a brand new Wiimote. Unwilling to give a refund on simple accessories, I was stuck with this product that despite being reconditioned, was not as reliable as if I had purchased one new. A lot of their accessories are no-name from who knows where, so it's buyer beware. Your mileage is going to vary with these kinds of products and most of it probably won't last long. Shop there to fill the gaps in your collection, but don't put yourself in the position of having to guess if the product you've bought is of the quality you're expecting. Unless it's brand spanking new, it probably isn't. In the varying markets and product levels, there are without a doubt differences in plastic density, switch durability, component quality etc... PNP Games makes money on people not knowing this. read more

Shady business, NEVER AGAIN! Seller posted Hollow Knight via ebay, returned it because they sold the game for double the price. This was in late April and they received the game a week after purchase. They only gave me half of the refund because "They had to send someone to the warehouse to make sure everything is okay." Well we are at July 21st and they still haven't sent me the refund. I came to realize that the reason they did this is so that I won't give them a negative feedback because it will be past the 60 days. Don't do business with them! PNP games is my favourite place to get video games, both old and new. I was psyched when they opened one on Portage Avenue since it's closer to home. This PNP games is also the biggest one in Winnipeg - the smaller one being on McLeod. The staff here are consistently friendly and they talk to you all the time. I think one of them is called Mike and another is Lee. They're really great to talk to and they DO know their games. You know that they actually enjoy their jobs. Thumbs up to Mike and Lee. Their prices are really great compared to Gamestop/Electronics Boutique. Sometimes it's on par but I feel like supporting a local establishment instead of a multinational corporation like Gamestop. They offer $2 scratch protection with your games - very nice. Unlike EB games, you can bring in your games and you get a HUGE chunk of store credit. My boyfriend and I brought so many games and we nearly got $200 in credit. At EB games I'd only get a fraction of that. They have an excellent selection of both old and new games. Expect them to have the new copies! Their used games are also quite cheap and not over-inflated as well. They have a wall dedicated to games of the past: GBA, GBC, Atari, SNES, NES, Sega, Ps1, Ps2, N64, etc. Whatever you want it'll likely be there - plus it's not too badly priced. They also have a glass display case of "rare" games (such as FF7, Old school Zelda games, Castlevania, etc.) at better prices than what you'd find on eBay, for example. Besides games, you can find consoles, accessories and gifts. They sell plushies of Pokemon and Nintendo characters. They sell candies and snacks and various novelty items as well. There's something for everyone here. Overall, if you're a huge video game fan you should come here because you will love it. Even if you're not a fan and you know someone who is, it's a great place to buy a gift for them here. I have no complaints, only that when you drive by it's easy to miss. The most abysmal customer service I've ever received. Period. The lady working what I imagine was Facebook on her phone when we came in with not a soul in sight did not look impressed to see us, almost like we were interrupting something. We told her the nature of our visit, hoping to sell a 6/7 games and she snarked at us! "Well are you actually going to trade this in? Because it's a waste of my time if you're not". Are you kidding me? Incredibly rude, would not recommend. Would rather give my games away then trade them to PNP. read more

These people have no sense of customer service. Apparently, they will happily take your money but if a customer has a problem. they don't seem to want to help rectify it. They're very quick to say "sorry" but it means nothing because they are not sorry. read more

Do not purchase from this company!!! This is truly the worst customer service department I have ever come in contact with. It is clear they have no customer service department. I purchased a game on amazon and paid about 11 dollars for guaranteed shipping on Christmas Eve. This was through the third party PNP. I will never buy from anyone besides amazon directly. Third party's can sometimes be small shops with no clue of how to run a business properly or keep customers happy. Long story short, my package was not delivered one time. My usps stated it would be available for pick up on the 26th which clearly is not Christmas Eve. My simple and obvious request for a refund turned into a simple answer of no. Haha how they are allowed to sell on amazon is beyond me. Save yourself from this overpriced, unreliable, petty, and clueless company! If you see them on amazon fulfilling orders... These guys are huge e-bay sellers and their customer service sucks when they screw up. They sent me the wrong game and then tried to claim they never received it when I sent it back, all so they didn't have to bother comming good on the sale. Scammers and filthy business practices. They do so much business though they don't care to make things right when they screw up. Thought they could burn me. If I lived in Winnipeg I'd be going into the store for some proper face to face resolution, but it's easy to ignore emial. Check their ebay feedback and it's littlered with the same complaints. The only way they maintain their rating is due to the volume of feedback their reciving. Most of the time it's good service, but when they do screw up, they give you the screw you! PNP is the best retro video game store I've ever been to, plain and simple. During my time living in Winnipeg, I went multiple times. Not only to buy games, but also to look at all the displays like if you were in a museum. The store is kept organized and tidy, so it's not hard to find what you want. The staff is very helpful and knowledgeable too. I wouldn't recommend selling your older stuff to them because you might get more by putting it on Craigslist or Kijiji. But if you're in a hurry, I would definitely go with them instead of EB Games. Recently, they implemented a rewards card as well as monthly deals so keep an eye on their FB page. If I were still living there they would totally get my business. read more

I saw these guys on Sunday at Fan Expo.Traffic was a bit light today on the main floor, therefore, I was able to finally check this booth out. They specialize in the classic systems such as Nintendo NES, Super Nintendo, Nintendo 64, PS1, Dreamcast, Genesis and many more (even Atari!). I like to collect old Nintendo cartridges and make them into portal drives. I bought some Mario titles for a reasonable cost. The Zelda ones were $$$. Guys were nice at the booth. read more

Awful customer service! Don't even bother going here if you're female. Being talked down to about why I wouldn't like certain products, "explained" to why the ones they sold me don't work and why after paying them and waiting months for my other games to be fixed they still didn't work. Not worth it! The employees I dealt with had zero understanding of customer service and clearly did not know very much about their products as well. These guys have the WORST retail customer service I have ever experienced. I've been an occasional customer since 2008 (I don't know why) and my string of bad experiences with this business has started ever since I tried to return a Wii Component Cable. They will happily take your money, and I always ask for return policy details with every purchase I make at any store just in case. Their return policy has always been store credit or exchange, and I understand that. They are a small business, they have to keep your money because if they keep making returns their income would probably drastically reduce, but I understand and that's fine. The problem is that over the years, when I purchase something like a cable, whether charging or for video, it sometimes isn't compatible even though I am reassured by an employee that even though it may be for a different console but has the same input it should work, and if it doesn't I can come back and exchange it. Sounds great and like a normal return policy, right? Not with PNP Games. I bought a micro USB cable for Xbox One and tried to exchange it for a PS4 micro USB cable, and pay the difference because it was a dollar more, but of course I was not allowed to return it because it would have to be defective for that. Why? There is nothing wrong with it, I came back three days later and I wanted to give them more money to get one that would actually work for me and have me strolling out of their store happy. Instead the employee proceeded to scan in the new one thinking I was just going to purchase the PS4 cable and still keep the Xbox One cable. I told him to forget it I would purchase it elsewhere. Personally, I have had these return/exchange problems for nearly ten years with them and I can't for the life of me tell you why I go back. In my opinion, this store is ONLY good if you plan on purchasing an item and not returning or exchanging it, but even then I would recommend buying it for the same price (or even a little more) elsewhere and have piece of mind knowing that if you do have any problems with your product you can always return it hassle-free. So unless you are okay with final sale on anything you buy (I know they have a "return policy" but trust me when I say walk in expecting a final sale), do not shop here. I am not normally the person to write bad reviews, but I felt like I had to inform some people about the practices of this business after dealing with them for nearly ten years and not having one good experience when it comes to returns.
