I have been banking with PNC since I was a pre-teen when my parents helped me open my first bank account about 35+ years ago at the former National City Bank branch (now PNC) in University Heights. Fast-forward to 2008, I even worked for NCB as a Licensed Investment Banker for a short time right before they changed their name to PNC.
Going to the bank for the routine transactions is usually a pretty mundane task for anyone, but I want to give a shoutout to 2 special people at the University Heights branch. In mid-December 2024, I came in to obtain a cashier's check as payment for a vehicle that I was purchasing from a dealership out of state. Donna helped me with this transaction and even kindly suggested to upgrade my account so that I could avoid having to pay a fee for the cashier's check (it's complimentary for certain account types). I was very grateful for this. I obtained the check and headed right to the post office to mail it priority. It was supposed to take 3 days. But 2 weeks later, the dealership still has not received the check and the tracking number doesn't show any movement. This was causing me a good deal of stress as I was worried that the dealership would release my vehicle to another buyer since they haven't received my payment in a timely manner.
So... I called the bank almost in a panic, but Donna was off that day. I spoke with Jason and I explained my predicament to him - that I needed to cancel the check and have it reissued immediately. Even though Jason was unfamiliar with canceling a cashier's check as he hadn't done it before, he invited me to come in and pledged to figure it out and get it done. While I was there, he figured out who to call and talked to whoever he needed to in order to get the process started. We figured out that it will take one business day for the cancellation to become official. He got it done! He had me sign an affidavit and asked me to return after one business day to request a reissue. Jason also advised me that he would be off when I returned, but that Donna would be back in. He notified Donna of everything that he did and what else we needed to do so that the transition would be seamless when I came back in for the reissue.
On the next business day, Donna asked me to come in at noon. She was able to confirm that the prior check had been cancelled and proceeded to redeposit the funds back into my account. Instead of reissuing a new check, we ended up transferring the funds by wire directly to the dealership's bank. This alleviated the necessity of mailing another check and the possibility of additional delays by the unreliable USPS. Donna was very instrumental in getting this transaction done quickly and the dealership confirmed their receipt of the funds within a couple of hours. Hallelujah!!!
The care and detailed attention that both Donna and Jason demonstrated during this entire process for me is truly exceptional! They helped to relieve a lot of anxiety for me and I truly appreciate their professionalism and customer focus!! I wish that all people in service-oriented roles are as caring. Thank you, Donna and Jason! read more
