Compared to the bank I have been using for many years, the personal banker conditions are slightly looser, and you can easily consult about finance and trust. Also, there are a few Japanese people working as personal bankers, so it's reassuring. Of course, I'm used to FHB, which I've been using right after I moved to Hawaii, so I want to use both banks in the future. What I like about Bank of Hawaii is the Hawaiian-like lobby atmosphere. You can pass waiting time without getting bored because you can enjoy the interesting exhibitions and videos on display. It is not uncommon to see bankers with hair accessories such as hibiscus. When they say "Aloha" after concluding my business, I can't help but smile and return Aloha. I hope that you will continue to provide services that are typical of a local bank in Hawaii. She then chose a huge folder and was able to find mine within seconds. Need to fill out a little form with name, date, box number and signature. Show ID and she asked if I needed a private room which I did not this time. Walked across tiny bridge into vault and did our double turnkey dance, then she asked if I wanted her to lift the box out for me and I happily said yes since it's kinda heavy. Maria set it on the table and told me to take my time. When pau, I replaced the box, took out my key and upon departure she asked if I needed parking validation. I asked how long was it for because I was going to run to Starbucks to get a coffee first and she said it's good for up to 2 hours max. There were two people ahead of me and I waited about 10 minutes. There was only one teller at the time. When it was my turn, I asked about opening up a checking account so that I could get a Hello Kitty debit card. She told me that she couldn't help me as she was the only teller at the moment. It would take too long to open up a new account and there were people in line after me. She directed me to their nearest full sized bank, which was the one in the Ala Moana Building. I told her ok and that I would go there. They did have mints, which I appreciated. I took two and headed to the Ala Moana location.

I opened a Hawaiiusa account a long time ago because they were doing a promotion for teachers. I like that they offer things for teachers. This branch particularly has very nice tellers. The line can sometimes get long, but the tellers are fast and they're so friendly. They all seem to enjoy working here. I like the parking lot. I've never had to wait for a space. I don't have to pull a ticket like at the other downtown Hawaiiusa location, and I don't have to walk so far from my car to get to the doors like at the Ward location. I've never had issues with keeping my money here. I use the online site to check balances and transfer to other accounts. It's been a 10/10 experience using this bank and I would prefer to come to this location as opposed to all the other locations any day. They even have popcorn sometimes. I love popcorn.

My wife and I would like to give a shout-out to Asia at the FHB Makiki branch for her assistance and determination in helping us resolve a Debit card PIN problem. Her professionalism was stellar. My wife and I received new Debit Cards and activated them over the phone which confirmed activation. When we tried using the cards at the Makiki FHB ATM, a PIN error occurred on one of the cards. We called Customer Service which said a PIN reset was needed. We reset the PIN. A few weeks later we tried the Debit card again at the same Makiki FHB ATM. Didn't Work. PIN error. Apparently, there are PIN resetting issues and glitches. We went into the FHB Makiki branch for help. Asia helped us resolve this issued with patience, great communication, and professionalism. Literally, 75% of the time they never even bother to reply. Why does the troubled banking institution even bother to provide a messaging system when nobody responds to my inquiries? It is no way to run a business, let alone a financial business. Shame! Calling First Hawaiian Bank is no better. When I called I was rudely hung up on, before I could say one word, after waiting 45 minutes for someone to answer. Then I called back and had to wait another hour and fifteen minutes for someone to finally answer, just to be told that they couldn't help me because the employee didn't have enough information. Their bank is pathetic. As Morgan Freeman says in the movie Transcendence, "RUN from this place!"

She said that it's good to belong to more than one credit union to have options in the future - like if I needed a loan or something. I joined... and enjoyed the benefits such as free calendars, dinners with great gifts and raffle prizes, discounted tickets on Family Movie Day, etc. The staff are so nice... I've been to almost every location and they all are so helpful! This particular location is across the street from Straub Clinic's Emergency Department. There's free parking and more stalls underground. This year, I forgot to go to the Kailua location where I usually get a free calendar. I realized that I really needed one for my wall at home, so, I went to this "downtown" location because it's closest to my dentist's office. Haha... Yup! I'm last minute! Luckily, this location still had some free calendars with members' contributions. I enjoy the creative local pictures! One year, there were food photos with recipes! Yay!
